Chapter 674: Chapter 570 Qualifications Chapter 674: Chapter 570 Qualifications Yatagarasu iryu stood there, his stalwart thighs seemingly one with the ground, this mountain of a man appearing as docile as a child next to Sword Master Cold Crow.

“Let’s go,” he said.

Sword Master Cold Crow was still wearing a wide long robe, the dark spots on his face increasing in number, creating the impression that he could reach the end of his life at any mont.

Roger followed behind the two, taking a step forward, the scenery around him flipping upside down.

The dim and narrow room vanished, cool air rushing into his nostrils, the sunlight above warm but not scorching, igniting a hint of warmth at the bottom of his heart.

The group was probably at the summit of Hankawa, and contrary to expectations, the perennially snow-covered Hankawa was bursting with the spirit of spring at its peak.

Like a patch of green amidst the snow mountain, Roger could see the unique vista where spring and winter rged.

Below his feet lay the snowy ridges, yet he could breathe in the fragrance of the green grass at his side.

In the center of the mountain’s top, a Cherry Blossom Tree with thick branches was slowly budding, with isolated limbs even bearing the hint of budding blossoms.

“Draw your weapon, let see what you’ve got?”

Sword Master Cold Crow sat next to a small dais on the grass, with only a pot of wine on the table, seemingly not intending to personally engage in the instruction.

A thought crossed Roger’s mind as he looked towards the robust figure not far away.

“iryu, although you are my adopted child, in essence, you are also a student I have personally taught, so be mindful of your force,” Cold Crow advised while he filled his cup with wine.

“Huh, this could be my last student in my life.”

“Adoptive father, you will succeed,” iryu said.

Yatagarasu iryu bowed respectfully, then turned to look at Roger.

“I can’t tell what’s special about you, but since it’s my adoptive father’s wish, from today onwards, you are my junior brother.”

“Co, show all your skills!”

Yatagarasu iryu crossed his arms, his Spiritual Power surging like waves. Shortly after, Roger heard a familiar cry of a bird, and in a flash, Yatagarasu iryu had a Great Tachi in his hands, almost two palms wide.

The blade was slender, and the handle nearly the length of a normal dagger, wrapped in the hide of so unknown beast. Even from a distance, Roger could sll the blood emanating from the handle.

The sword was exceptionally long; Yatagarasu iryu stood over two ters tall, and the weapon in his hands was almost as tall as he was.

The body of the sword was pitch-black, with only the edge of the blade seeping a ghastly white. Roger was unsure whether that was the natural hue of the blade or if it had lost its original color due to excessive killing.

“You attack first, if I take action, you won’t stand a chance,” iryu said with an indifferent look on his face.

He held the sword with both hands, the tip of the Great Tachi resting on the ground; he held the weapon at an angle, blade downwards, spine facing Roger—a completely defensive stance.

Indeed, Roger could feel an overwhelming pressure bearing down on him even without the movent of iryu’s weapon, a testant to his formidable strength.

Yatagarasu iryu was much stronger than Roger had anticipated.

His lips a bit dry, Roger swallowed quietly. Even before striking, his heart contracted vehently, a fear instinctively triggered by facing a formidable opponent.

If Sword Master Cold Crow’s presence embodied an intimidating might that could conquer foes without a fight, Yatagarasu iryu’s was a display of sheer aggressiveness.

“Be careful!”

Roger barely uttered a word and in the next second, he shot out like a cannonball, the cold wind slicing across his cheeks, appearing instantaneously at Yatagarasu iryu’s side.

His angle of attack was from the right front of Yatagarasu iryu, who’s defensive stance at that mont would stifle any attempts to dodge or attack.

[Single Stroke Slash]

He picked this technique from the Autumn Water Fraction not because it was the strongest attack, but because it was fast.

The Single Stroke Slash was a move evolved from techniques similar to iaijutsu, emphasizing a build-up and sudden release. Roger skipped the build-up phase but could still perfectly unleash the swift essence of the swordsmanship.

The Sword of Destiny cut through the air; before the sound of it cleaving the wind could be heard, Roger’s attack had already reached the underarm of Yatagarasu iryu.

From this angle, to defend against Roger’s strike, iryu would have to step back or move sideways; regardless of which option he chose, Roger could adjust his sword technique accordingly.

Several potential variations already ford in his mind, but to his surprise, iryu, in a defensive position, did not choose to move at all.

The sword scraped against the ground, making a grating sound, and in the next instant, iryu rotated the sword with both hands. The Great Tachi, previously slanted on the ground, began to spin rapidly—almost instantly, he adapted his grip on the weapon.

The pulsing Great Tachi shifted slightly.

Clang!

Then ca a jarring sound of tal clashing.

Roger felt a continuous gyrating force like that of a spinning top hit the Sword of Destiny in his hands.

The strength wasn’t too great, but the changes within it were bizarre; he had to increase his grip strength just to barely stabilize the trembling Sword of Destiny.

In the blink of an eye, he caught a glimpse of iryu’s disdain hidden beneath the blade.
