Chapter 137: Chapter 137: Hunter’s Bar
“Heh.”
Arlo sneered, not even bothering to answer Roger’s thoughts.
At that mont, Linda sighed.
“Mr. Roger, you may not be aware, but it is extrely necessary to proceed in this way. So curses and influences are so deeply hidden that no abnormalities can be detected initially.”
“However, these issues might suddenly erupt when certain specific conditions are t, and the damage caused by then will far exceed any imagination—so severe that it might even result in the deaths of dozens or hundreds!”
“Therefore, from a procedural standpoint, such an investigation is absolutely necessary.”
Uttering this statent signified that Linda had made a compromise.
In fact, what she had always been defending wasn’t Roger and Henrik but the Hunters Sub-guild.
Upon hearing her words, Roger just smiled.
“I understand what you an. When I said there was no need, I wasn’t suggesting we shouldn’t accept the investigation, but rather that we do not need to accept Ms. Arlo and the Voodoo Association’s involvent.”
“Amanda has already been investigated by soone else.”
“Humph!”
Arlo didn’t hide the scorn on her face, “Do you think just anyone can intercede in this matter?”
“Do you think you can evade the investigation with such tricks?”
“Evade ?”
Her face unmasked its malice.
Her fierce gaze seed to declare to everyone,
That girl is mine!
“Tell , who do you plan to have examine her?”
“You? Or a pastor from the neighborhood?”
“No!”
Roger shook his head, then uttered a na.
“Margaret!”
“Margaret from the Female Sorceress Association!”
He stepped forward, fixing his gaze on Arlo.
“Not long ago, Amanda passed an inspection conducted by Ms. Margaret and was taken on as her student.”
“Is this reason enough?”
“Is Margaret’s identity sufficient?”
Roger pressed for an answer.
Arlo was initially stunned, but then her face twisted, “Impossible!”
“Ms. Margaret is one of the most powerful female sorceresses in the vicinity of Bordeaux. How could she take an interest in just an ordinary girl?”
“Amanda is not just any ordinary girl.”
Roger eyed Arlo.
“Haven’t you seen the relevant reports?”
“During the ritual, Amanda awakened her powers, which seem to be quite potent, and that’s why Ms. Margaret took notice of her!”
Arlo’s chest heaved violently, but the remnants of her rationality told her that this claim was very likely to be true.
“I will look into it!”
After declaring this, she gave everyone present a cold glance and stord off.
Once Arlo had left, Linda’s expression turned ugly, “Henrik, stay, everyone else, out.”
Roger exchanged a glance with Henrik, who gave him a consoling look and nodded.
With no other option, Roger had to follow the others out of the room. As soon as the door closed behind them, an intense argunt erupted inside.
“Let’s go, I’ll lead you out of here.”
Peter erged from the hallway.
“My ntor is, in a way, a spellcaster, and has a sowhat awkward relationship with the Voodoo Queen, so I’m sorry, it’s inconvenient for to appear in…”
“It’s fine.”
Roger smiled, interrupting Peter mid-sentence.
Everyone has their own stance, and that cannot be coerced.
“I’m just a bit worried about Henrik.”
Clearly, Henrik had barged into the room entirely to take so of the pressure off Roger. He had deliberately infuriated Arlo with vehent words, aiming to direct the hatred toward himself.
This guy…
Roger helplessly shook his head.
“Hmm… You need to be careful, I’ve heard so rumors that Arlo, among the Voodoo Queen’s students, has the worst temper.”
“Years ago, she was backlash by a mysterious ceremony, and since then, her personality has beco extrely quirky and overbearing. If it were not for the Voodoo Queen’s care, she would have run into big trouble long ago.”
“Although she might not really go as far as to kill you after today’s conflict, there are many strange abilities within the Voodoo Skill.”
“Anyway, be careful.”
Then, Peter warned Roger about many things to pay attention to, and Roger took them all to heart.
After leaving the Hunters Sub-guild, Peter had sothing else to do and left first, leaving Roger alone in the car waiting for Henrik.
It was a long ti before Roger saw the familiar figure of Henrik appear.
“How did it go?”
“What else could it be?” Henrik said indifferently.
“I’ve just handled a big problem, and now I can relax a bit and rest for a few days. You have no idea, without around, a lot of girls’ business has beco sluggish.”
Henrik held his head with both hands, looking utterly unconcerned as he spoke.
“A holiday?”
Roger was slightly stunned.
Yeah, right! I’ll believe that when pigs fly!
“Linda, the one who expelled you from the Hunters Guild?” Roger quickly grasped the seriousness of the situation.
“Expelled from the Guild, how could that be?”
A flicker of discomfort crossed Henrik’s face.
“I told you it’s just a holiday.”
“How long?” Roger pressed.
“Err…”
Henrik hesitated.
“She didn’t say.”
WTF!
Roger couldn’t help but slap the steering wheel, “No, this can’t be right; the whole ss started because of , I can’t…”
“It’s nothing to do with you.”
Henrik waved his hand to interrupt Roger.
“It’s a problem within the Hunters Guild itself.”
He sighed.
“We’re too weak, weak enough that anyone feels they can co and step on us!”
“Linda is a Dream Diviner, and although she’s the Guild’s local head, she actually only handles administrative tasks.”
“Because of her, many missions’ safety levels are given a rough estimate ahead of ti, which helps to avoid unnecessary injuries to the greatest extent.”
“The president of the Sub-guild here is from another person, hailing from the Blood Hunter Family, but unfortunately, he has no interest in managing the Guild, which is why we ended up in such a state.”
Henrik patted Roger on the shoulder.
“This has nothing to do with you; it’s the Voodoo Association that’s been too arrogant, and by coincidence, the one who ca to investigate was Arlo, that madman.”
“Damn it!”
“I just couldn’t stand it; I really wanted to shoot her mouth off!”
“So what should we do now, just wait?”
“Are you in a lot of trouble and need money? If you’re really in a hurry, you could take my share…”
“No need!”
Henrik waved his hand dismissively.
“Apart from the Hunters Guild, we can find missions elsewhere, and moreover, this isn’t a permanent expulsion.”
“Let drive, I’ll take you to a new place!”
Henrik said mysteriously.
“Right, about that Advent of the Saint Heir you asked about last ti, I don’t know why you’re so curious about it, but luckily I know soone. I’ll take you there on the way.”
The two swapped places, with Henrik starting the car and driving Roger away from the city center. After a series of turns, they arrived at a well-known entertainnt center in Bordeaux City.
“It’s here.”
Henrik pointed to a sign that read Hunter’s Bar.
“Are you sure you’re just bringing to ask about stuff and not just for fun?”
Roger was sowhat skeptical of Henrik’s character.
