"Roger, you can only die now!"

"Goodbye, young Demon Hunter, may you return to your holand in the world after death."

Boom!

Ophelia didn’t seem to exert much force, yet within Roger, it was as if a volcano had erupted.

His mighty body began to collapse from the inside out, blood oozed out, and countless cracks appeared on the surface of his body.

"Rest assured, my previous promise still stands. I will treat your friends well and make them believe you are still alive!"

Crackle, snap!

Roger’s eyes widened in shock, helplessly watching his own body’s disintegration, while his soul also suffered severe damage.

At the very last mont before his body was about to dissolve, Roger spat out a mouthful of foul blood, not in fear, but with a aningful sigh.

"Do you know how Nassero died?"

"Do you know he once made a bet with before he died?"

Ophelia’s expression changed slightly, but the flicker of curiosity was quickly replaced by indifference.

"I would like to know, but compared to that secret, your death holds more significance for !"

The next mont, she withdrew her palm, and Roger’s body simultaneously crumbled.

His flesh turned into the smallest particles, then surged into Ophelia’s palm, rging completely with her.

Her body trembled slightly, a blush flashed across Ophelia’s face, and then she opened her hand. A powerful force dispersed, and in an instant, she felt as if she was connected to the entire plane.

"I did it, this is the power a Controller should possess."

"Next, I will make this place more harmonious."

"Oh, Roger, your sacrifice is worthy of praise."

"But what a pity, you didn’t choose the path I left for you, because honestly, you did have a bit of charm."

Ophelia muttered softly.

But at this mont, a familiar voice suddenly sounded beside her ear.

"Should I feel no regret for dying with such an appraisal from you?"

"Roger!!"

Ophelia turned around abruptly, at the sa ti unleashing all her power, but what happened next left her astonished.

In her perception, there was no trace of Roger within the surrounding dozens of worlds. Suddenly, she seed to realize sothing and reached out to pat her own forehead.

Bang!

Her body transford into the smallest particles and then reassembled, yet despite this, Ophelia still couldn’t locate Roger.

"Impossible!?"

"Are you looking for ?"

A silhouette slowly erged in the void.

Ophelia closed her eyes and then opened them again.

To her surprise, Roger was indeed standing not far in front of her, yet in her perception, the place was completely empty.

She rarely broke into a cold sweat.

Because on Roger’s face, she saw calm and composure.

The next second, with the force of thunder, Ophelia launched her full power at the area where Roger was standing.

Such a large-scale invocation of the rules directly tore apart the entire space, affecting not only that but also impacting the stability of several surrounding worlds.

"Is this what you call stability?"

"To kill , are you willing to let countless ordinary people die with ?"

"Compared to them, you are the greatest disaster!" Ophelia replied coldly, though she didn’t launch another attack.

Unable to find Roger’s true form, launching similar attacks repeatedly was pointless.

Ophelia steadied herself, the panic on her face quickly disappeared.

"It’s truly surprising, is this the power of the soul? You’ve reached a realm Nassero never achieved."

"Indeed, you’ve beco the second Nassero!"

"I once imagined this situation, but I never thought it would actually happen. Fortunately, I have prepared accordingly."

Ophelia stepped back a few steps, heading once more to the stone table where the Gwent Card lay.

"Let’s talk."

"I for this plane, you for your friends, lovers, and daughter." Ophelia showed a aningful gaze.

"To be honest..." Roger’s gaze turned sinister.

"Although Nassero was a detestable madman, compared to him, you are even more repulsive."

"I am not like him." Ophelia shook her head.

"Emotions hold no aning for ; my existence is to maintain the stability of this plane. To achieve this goal, I am willing to do anything."

"If my disappearance could make this plane more stable, I would execute it without hesitation."

"Hmph!" Roger scoffed coldly.

"In my opinion, the best ending would be without you."

"You just ntioned Nassero’s death and a gamble?" Ophelia proactively shifted the topic.

Roger didn’t seem in a hurry to do anything and nodded along with Ophelia’s words.

"Nassero committed suicide. He willingly gave up his Soul Core because he told , in the Soul World, my strength would eventually consu him."

"He didn’t want to passively wait for death, so he set up a final gamble with his soul as the stake!"

"What did he gamble on?" Ophelia asked.

"He gambled that you would kill !"

Roger’s voice suddenly rose, his sharp gaze fixed on Ophelia.

"I was sowhat doubtful, but it beca very clear that he won."

"To be honest, in that situation, I had no other choice. Although I was getting stronger and he was weakening, it would take an extrely long ti to grow strong enough to kill him."

"If it really ca to that day, even if I could awaken, there would be nothing in this world worth holding onto for ."

"By then, I might indeed choose to leave..."

"So Nassero knew very well that this was a gamble I was destined to agree to."

Roger said slowly.

"Then why didn’t you try to kill after awakening?"

"After all, at that ti my weakness would have seed like a great opportunity to you."

"Of course I thought about it, but it was not the best timing. Even if I succeeded, there was a considerable chance that you would drag along those I care about to perish with you."

"That’s a gamble I couldn’t afford to take."

"You think it’s different now?" Ophelia suddenly spoke up.

"I’m called the Primordial Dragon, not just a Dragonborn, but the origin of many bloodlines in this plane cos from ." She slowly raised her hand.

"As long as I want, I can control your friends just like I control you."

"Want to try it?"

"Start with soone insignificant?"

Facing Ophelia’s threat, Roger remained calm.

"You can try."

His face showed no signs of anxiety from being threatened.

The ease on Ophelia’s face vanished. She waved her hand, but nothing happened after a while.

This ti, she could no longer hide the tension in her heart, trying to control sothing several tis, but just like before, nothing happened.

"You..."

"I used to suspect it." Roger interrupted Ophelia, "But I still made corresponding preparations."

"Even entrusted everything to ti, slowly waiting, waiting for the situation Nassero described not to occur. At that ti, we could have gotten along and perhaps beco friends, maintaining the stability of this plane together..."

Roger moved forward.

"Although I don’t know what you’ve done, even without them, you may not be able to kill when it cos to an actual fight!"

"Do you want the entire plane to descend into chaos, leaving your friends in a constant state of fear?"

"After all, you can protect them for a while, but not for a lifeti. If I wanted to kill a few ordinary Transcendents, even you couldn’t stop it, could you?"

"Indeed, you’re right about everything!"

Roger’s voice was heavy.

"So I hope none of this happens. I hope we can get along peacefully because killing you would really cost a great deal!"

Roger exhaled.

"It’s good you understand. Maybe maintaining the status quo is the best choice."

Ophelia composed herself.

But at that mont, she saw a look of determination in Roger’s eyes. Almost in the blink of an eye, Roger’s ethereal figure underwent a trendous transformation.

He slowly reached out his hand, and as the distance closed, Roger’s body beca solid from the fingertips.

Until it gently landed on Ophelia’s shoulder.

"Nassero really gave a tough problem."

"What?" Ophelia was slightly taken aback, an inexplicable panic rising in her heart.

"To kill you, I could only accept his power."

"And accepting his power..."

"That door would devour !"

"The door, what door?" Ophelia began to panic.

"It’s a deadlock. As I am now, I have no choice. Though Nassero is dead, his power can rge with mine."

"And then let him return... in another form."

"It’s ironic, he seed to lose, but he’s the biggest winner!"
