Sure enough.

It seems there is more between the Lord of the Mist and the Primordial Dragon than just simple hatred and opposing stances.

Now it appears they, like myself, co from the sa place. So perhaps many years ago, they had a special experience together.

Partners or lovers?

"Why does he want to kill you? I think he should have also seen through your identity." Ophelia asked again.

Roger shrugged, completely relaxed now, knowing he had no chance to resist against either of them.

"Maybe because I won against him in a card ga." Roger said with a smile.

"Just because of that?" Ophelia’s smooth actions suddenly halted, giving Roger a strange look.

"So we’re just having an ordinary card ga?" Roger gestured, "You wouldn’t want to kill like he does just because you lost, would you?"

Ophelia clearly couldn’t yet connect the outcos of Gwent Card gas with life and death, holding the cards in her hand, frozen for a mont.

"Just a little joke." Roger explained, "But at that ti, my life was indeed linked to the outco of a Gwent Card ga."

Then Roger simply retold the events that had transpired.

"Though we co from the sa place, our views on returning ho diverged." Roger stared into Ophelia’s eyes, seemingly trying to capture a trace of emotion in her amber pupils.

But he was disappointed.

"You don’t want to go ho?" Ophelia retorted.

"Here is my ho."

"I don’t have many mories of that world, and I’m not even sure if those mories truly happened."

"So what about you? What’s your stance?" Roger quickly countered.

"Like Nassero, we ca here with the sole purpose of saving a world on the brink of collapse, and in fact, we ca close to succeeding."

"Having grasped the essence of the entire Plane, if we could take it back, maybe we could barely keep that world running."

"What happened then?" Roger asked.

"I’m not like Nassero; the life of the Dragonkin is long and solitary, and in fact, I’m not particularly concerned with the survival of the entire race."

"Though I have a noble status, at first I also wanted to save my kind and that world, but you know, young Demon Hunter."

"Ti is our greatest enemy, the most terrifying weapon."

Ophelia sighed.

"In the long pursuit and battles, I beca increasingly weary. What scared more was that the faces in my mory began to blur. Gradually, the thought of going ho faded in my mind."

"Similar things happened to Nassero as well, although his personal emotions were more intense, and the mission he bore was far more daunting, naturally making his desire to return ho more urgent."

"The world ant nothing to him, but he desired to save his kin, family, and kingdom."

"It was at that ti that we ca together."

Ophelia smiled, but there was no nostalgia in her smile, "The fact proved that by then, there was no so-called affection between us, even the faces, stories, and images in mory were rely obsessions."

"Two equally lonely souls leaned on each other, trying to find support in one another, but unfortunately, I was the first to give up at that ti."

"I made the most important decision to stay here, preserving the strength I had mastered to maintain the normal operation of this Plane."

"At the sa ti, I hoped that Nassero would do the sa. After all, without him, the entire Plane would be less complete, and the flaw sown at that ti would inevitably fernt soday in the future."

"I betrayed my world."

"Since it was no longer suitable for survival there, and I had the chance to leave, why shouldn’t I make a selfish choice?"

Roger saw the change of emotions in Ophelia’s eyes; this sentence wasn’t ant for Roger.

But rather for herself.

"So disagreents arose between you, leading to wars thereafter?" Roger was still a bit puzzled.

He could imagine the feelings of the Lord of the Mist at that ti, but it didn’t seem enough of a reason for both sides to go to war. Taking a step back, the most pressing matter before him should have been returning to the original world to nd its fractures with the power gained here.

But the Lord of the Mist chose to stay here, an apparently extrely abnormal action.

"Things were not that simple."

Ophelia put down the cards in her hand, clearly, no one was focusing on the Gwent cards on the table anymore.

"He told he needed ti to think."

Ophelia continued.

"In fact, I was also wavering and struggling, so I agreed because the longer it dragged on, the more likely Nassero would change his mind."

"Until one day, he ca to find again and told that he still couldn’t abandon his obsession, yet he also felt guilty for his erging desire to escape."

"I understood his feelings because that was equivalent to betraying his past and abandoning everyone and everything he loved."

"So he told he hoped I could help him rid of these emotions, forget everything about the past, and start anew here."

Regret flickered in Ophelia’s eyes.

"And that decision was the beginning of everything."

"What happened?" Roger asked curiously.

"You’ve been to his personal world and seen that dead silent city. I don’t know if you noticed, in the backyard of the castle, there’s an unnoticeable cetery..."
