A big white expensive looking car pulled over at a hilltop estate, where a fleet of equally luxurious cars were parked.

The driver stepped down, and opened the backseat door, allowing the awaiting staff to escort Matthew and Tara into the estate.

"Welco ho, young master Grayson." A man no younger than fifty greeted, taking a slight bow.

Matthew ignored his and the other staff’s greeting and marched briskly towards the centre mansion, which was brightly illuminated.

"Matthew," Tara called out, following strictly behind him. "Do you think it’s a good idea to leave Thane alone with that wench? Maybe I should’ve stayed back." She voiced out her fears.

But Matthew laughed it off. "You couldn’t charm my brother even if he had a blindfold on. Forget it, right now you should work on forcing mother’s hand."

Tara rolled her eyes, "And what makes you think she’ll give another chance? She nearly chewed my head off after I got fired."

Matthew halted his steps right in front of the main entrance, which was swarming with n in black, the security for the ambiance of the birthday dinner.

He shouldered a nasty glare, "Are you having cold feet?" He gritted his teeth.

"No, never!"

"Then stop moving your lips and move that ass into the house. Don’t put my-" his words fell to the wind when a woman, in her mid thirties stepped out of the mansion, holding two glasses of white wine in each hand.

"You may leave." Matthew hurriedly dismissed her, and turned his focus to his aunt, Cressida.

The woman, whose slender legs peeked out of the thigh length slit of her body hug white dress, strutted over to Matthew.

She looked over his shoulder at Tara and asked, "Isn’t that Tara? Why is she doing here?"

Matthew took her arm and locked it in his, leading her towards the party he responded, "She’s co to discuss with mother, about her engagent to Thane."

Cressida frowned, "I heard she was rejected by your brother. Speaking of which, I don’t see my favorite nephew anywhere."

The wide grin on Matthew’s face twitched, "You hurt my pride with your jokes."

But his aunt did not take her words back, "I an it, with you, it’s always the sa thing. The proverbial prodigal son, destined to squander his inheritance. But with Thane, he sohow manages to keep the family entertained." She emptied one of her glasses and passed the glass to the nearest person, not caring who they were.

Everyone’s attention was drawn to Matthew and Cressida as they waltzed into a room filled of the finest networking strings imaginable.

Matthew hardened his tone, "I too am full of surprises myself aunt-"

"I highly doubt that." She cut him off, her gaze strict on the high table, which had a particular seat empty.

"But it’s true. I know how much you love to be entertained, so trust when I say that I have sothing to leave the family in awe." He promised, earning a raised brow from Cressida.

She unhooked her arm from his and extended it to the hand of a large scale oil rchant, who had proposed to her ti without number.

"I’ll take your word for it, nephew." She said, then left to chat with the next patron of her ti.

Matthew balled his fists as he watched his aunt walk away. He marched furiously over to the high table, where about four people sat, observing the party.

An older woman, with striking blonde hair and deep brown eyes crossed her legs, and folded her arms, her face stark with disappointnt. "Matthew, I don’t see your brother around, don’t tell you weren’t able to convince him into coming?" She asked right off the bat.

Matthew stifled a hiss, "I’m not his caretaker now am I? Grandmother?"

The old woman scoffed, "Thank heavens for that."

Matthew averted his gaze to his uncles who sat on both her sides, the one of the right, clearly older, had his uninterested gaze pointed at Matthew.

Whilst the less hostile and younger looking uncle, gestured Matthew to sit next to him. "You must be tired from your trip, co over."

Matthew rolled his eyes at him, "I don’t need your false sympathy, Uncle."

Rowan nervously cracked a grin at his nephew’s edgy personality, he hadn’t seen him in about a year and a half and had hoped he had grown out of it.

"If you’ll excuse , I have to greet my parents." He announced, then turned to leave.

His grandmother, Sophia, clicked her tongue, "Just sit down, they’re with your grandfather, seeing to important guests. I don’t want you screwing it up."

Important guests?

Matthew couldn’t help but wonder who his grandmother would refer to as important.

At least, important enough for his grandfather to et with them.

Defeated, he sat at one of the lower seats, reserved for his cousins which were almost completely empty. Of course, while everyone got to mingle, he was babysat by his grandmother and uncles.

The picture of what the guests saw infuriated him.

He looked to his left, where he noticed an unfamiliar face sitting where his cousin ought to sit.

The woman didn’t look much older than him, and she had her hands dug deeply in-between her thighs, nervousness drawn all over her freckled face.

Matthew knew almost all the won around his age in his circle, hell, he had fucked with almost all of them.

But he hadn’t ever once laid eyes on the ginger haired lady, who looked as pale as a ghost.

Naturally, he would be attracted to any woman, but with this woman, who dressed like a grandma from the eighties, he had no attraction towards her whatsoever.

"H-Hey, could you stop it?" She croaked.

Matthew blinked twice. Was she talking to him?

He stole a glance at his grandma to see if she was watching, but her attention was pointed at sothing his uncle was showing her on his tablet.

Matthew reclined into his seat and asked, "Stop what?"

She replied, "Stop staring at ."

"And when did I stare at you, kitten?" He shot her a wink, just like he did other won.

But, Mallory did not fold, she reached into her bag, pulled out her spectacles, a green book and so pens, then proceeded to draw into the pages, ignoring Matthew’s advance towards her.

An act that did not sit in well with Matthew...
