The mont Ethan laid eyes on his team of lawyers, he barked harshly at them. "What’s taking so long? Why haven’t I been granted bail yet?!"

His head lawyer dropped his briefcase on the only table in the visitation room. "Sir, we’ve applied for bail, but unfortunately, it’s been denied. The victim is demanding $2.5 million in damages."

Ethan’s eyes widened in shock, "What?! You can’t be serious!"

The head lawyer went on, "His lawyer has made it clear: if we don’t pay the damages, they won’t drop the charges. Our only option now is to take this to court."

Ethan had to sit down and catch his breath, "What the hell?! This is extortion! Why is the amount so large?"

One of his lawyers replied, "Sir the car that you crashed into was a limited edition, with it’s starting price at $45M."

Forty five million? Ethan cracked a nervous sweat.

His head lawyer swiftly inserted. "I understand your frustration, but we need to consider our next move carefully. We can contest the damages or negotiate a settlent..."

"No! If I do that it’ll make look like the loser. Get the damned bail and get out of here!" Ethan raised his voice and slamd his palm against the table.

His lawyers exchanged exasperated glances with each other, wondering how best to explain the situation to him.

Just as they held that thought, an officer ca in to announce the arrival of the victim and his defense team.

"What?" His lawyers were stunned to hear the victim had co all the way here to see Ethan.

Ethan as well was stunned, but he composed himself, "Let’s see what this bastard has to say."

The officers led them to a dium sized room with minimal furniture. Ethan scowled when he saw the Grayson heir, seated legs crossed, with about three n standing behind him.

"Captain." The officers saluted to an older looking man, standing in the middle of the room.

’So he got the Captain to arrange this eting?’ Ethan raised a brow, as he sat down across Thane.

One of Thane’s lawyers broke the silence, "My client here has drafted a settlent agreent, and if you agree to the terms stated he has agreed to drop the charges."

Ethan laughed, "You finally ca to your senses? Who would pay two million for a small scratch?" Ethan asked, a cocky grin on his face.

Thane remained stoic.

His lawyer passed a copy of the settlent agreent to one of Ethan’s lawyers. His legal team swiftly scanned through the docunts, searching for anything incriminating.

After a few reads, they bead with smiles and passed the docunt to Ethan.

"So? What’s he asking?" Ethan asked, his gaze fixed on Thane while he spoke.

"Mr Halton, he’s ready to drop all charges against you and is willing to waver the damages fee as well. In exchange, you have to sign a seperate docunt." His head lawyer explained.

Ethan frowned. "What docunt?" This deal sounded too good to be true, there had to be a catch.

Thane exchanged glances with the captain, giving him orders. On cue, the captain cleared his throat and asked everyone out of the room, save for Ethan and Thane.

His lawyers were reluctant, but Ethan insisted they leave, trying to show off how unafraid of Thane he was.

’The Grayson family? Humph! They’re living off of Old glory, there’s no way my wealth does not upscale this foolish heir’s.’ he scoffed as he watched everyone file out of the room.

Once they were gone, Thane uncrossed his legs and reached for the blue file on the table, which rested on the black one.

He slid it to Ethan, without saying a single word to him.

’Is this guy mute?’ Ethan wondered as he opened the docunts. ’Even when our cars collided, this bastard didn’t say a word to . Or is he just looking down on too much?’ the thought of the latter being the case made Ethan angrier.

However his anger doubled when he read through the docunt in his hands.

"Divorce papers?!" He imdiately recognized the divorce papers Brooke had sent him.

"You-!" He dropped the papers on the table and got up. "Why do you have these?! What’s your connection to my wife?! Answer !"

Thane exhaled sharply before responding, "Sign the divorce papers and I’ll drop all charges-"

"Bullshit!" He charged towards Thane, his eyes filled with rage. "I asked you a question, damn it! Where is my wife?!" He reached to grab Thane, but was intercepted by the black file Thane held up.

"Before you act, I suggest you look at this." Thane calmly said, showing off how unshaken he was by Ethan’s sudden charge.

Ethan angrily snatched the file out of Thane’s hands to see what it was.

His anger dissolved in seconds when his gaze fell on the list Thane had compiled. "T-This is..." Ethan was too stunned to speak.

Thane completed his sentence, "The list of all your board mbers, previous investors and future investors, as well as all the figures you’ve been eyeing."

"How did you get this?!" Ethan spat out, this was information that Thane couldn’t get off the internet.

’To get a list this accurate and detailed must’ve taken days, maybe even weeks of research on . But we only just t, so how is this possible? And what is his connection to Brooke?’ Ethan was panicking inwardly, trying to get a read on Thane.

He tried to play off his anxiety and flipped to the next page, laughing off his fear, "So? You did a little howork on , that doesn’t-" he cut himself off when he found himself staring at Brooke’s dical reports.

He gasped, "It was you..."

Thane lifted the corners of his mouth into a satisfied grin. "If you’ve noticed, I have the personal and work contact information of all the nas on that list." He explained, over Ethan’s panicked panting.

Retaining his calm deanor, he stole a glance at his watch, then said to Ethan.

"I’ll give you five minutes to make a choice. You either sign the divorce papers, or I forward these dical reports to every na on that list."
