"Ahem," Hannah dry coughed, "Miss Brooke, not to place a damper on your plans, but I hope you realize that Master Grayson now has four new guests staying in the mansion. You won’t be cooking for just one." She inford Brooke, when she looked at the ingredients laid out on the counter.

Brooke’s initial excitent died down, she had completely forgotten she was the one who advocated for these people to stay.

"That isn’t an issue," she psyched herself, "We still have a lot of ti on our hands till breakfast ti. We can do it!" She announced, already enlisting Hannah to help in the kitchen.

Hannah sighed, ’What a troubleso mistress I’ve picked up.’ she thought, but once she saw the excitent beaming from Brooke’s face, she dismissed the thought.

Rolling up her sleeves, she flexed her invisible biceps. "Of course! There’s nothing we can’t do!"

Brooke sighed in relief, at least with Hannah’s help, she was sure to finish up.

Last night she stayed up all night practicing her lines, and lost track of the ti. She barely got a wink of sleep, but nonetheless still got up early to prep for breakfast.

Truth be told, she still felt a bit sleep deprived, but the excitent from finally being useful overshadowed her fatigue.

"Thank you Hannah." She said, styling her hair into a high ponytail. With determined eyes she picked up the knives and announced. "Now, let’s get to it!"

*********

Hannah was amazed by how well Brooke adapted to the situation, she planned out a three course balanced breakfast in a short ti and gave Hannah the required asurents.

However, she noticed Brooke was acting strange. "Miss Brooke, your hand keeps falling asleep, are you sick?" Hannah asked, squatting in front of Brooke.

Brooke imdiately blinked twice, "What?" She drew her gaze to the salt holster, "I’m fine." She tried to douse it into the pot, fortunately Hannah stopped her.

"Miss Brooke!" She held her wrist, "This isn’t salt, it’s sugar!"

"What?" Brooke widened her eyes at the labelling on the holster. "I’m so sorry!" Her expression was grim, "I-I wasn’t thinking!" She panicked.

Hannah set the holster down, "It’s fine, thankfully I caught it before it beca a big mistake." It was the final and most elaborate dish, if it was ssed up, all Brooke’s efforts would’ve gone to waste.

Brooke still frowned as she watched Hannah pour the salt into the dish and stir it.’What is wrong with ? Is there anything I can do right?!’ she felt like hitting herself.

"I’ll take over from here, you should go freshen up in the anti. Master Grayson and his team will be down for breakfast any second." Hannah gently told her.

But Brooke declined, cracking a fake smile she said, "I’m fully awake now, I’ll see things through to the end."

Hannah sighed, "Miss Brooke I’m saying you’ve done more than enough-" Halfway through her sentence her phone rang. She took it out of her apron and frowned when she saw the caller ID.

It was one of her freelancing clients. One she had forgotten to cut off.

"That call seems important, you should go answer it. I’m fine on my own." Brooke insisted, resting a hand on Hannah’s shoulder.

Hannah protested, "But-" her words were cut off by the caller who was now flooding her phone with angry text ssages and emails. Defeated, she let out a groan and rushed out to settle things with the client.

Once she was gone, Brooke let out the yawn she had been holding back.

Realizing she was nearly falling asleep again, she slapped her face harshly, then took out her phone to keep her mind sharp.

She went online and watched videos teaching acting, trying to stay awake.

But ultimately, after watching about three, she ended up closing her eyes and falling asleep, resting her head on the counter!

Next to the large pot of broth which was still boiling on the stove!

Thane’s team went downstairs first for breakfast, whilst Thane stayed in the workshop a while to overlook the modification designs one last ti.

As soon as they stepped out of the elevator, the first one to pick up on the scent of sothing burning was Tara!

"Do you sll that?!" She questioned, walking briskly towards the source.

"Sll what?" Danny asked, trotting behind her.

She raised her nose, inhaling the scent, "Sothing’s burning!" She announced, then ran straight for the kitchen.

Danny looked over his shoulder at Jessica and Lance, who were equally just as stunned.

"A fire? Why hasn’t the smoke signal gone off?!" Jessica asked aloud, as they ran after their vice leader.

Tara’s heart pounded heavily as she ran head first into the kitchen. The smoke was minimal, and not enough to trigger the alarm.

She quickly turned off the stove, only to notice Brooke, sleeping next to the burning al, unbothered!

"Hey! You! Wake up!" She yelled, shaking Brooke’s shoulders, forcing her into waking up.

Brooke jolted out of her sleep, the mont she did, her nose picked up on the sll of smoke.

"Oh no! The food!" She gasped, realizing her mistake. But she had no ti to reflect on them, when all of a sudden, Tara’s hand ca cracking down on her face!

The mont she slapped her, the rest of the team assembled at the door, witnessing the whole thing.

"You idiot! Do you realize how much danger you could’ve caused by being so careless?!" She spat out, glaring daggers at Brooke.

The sting in Brooke’s face reminded her bitterly of Ethan’s abuse. She reflexively started to apologize, her tears filled with tears, while guarding her face from getting hit again.

"I’m sorry! I’m sorry! I’m sorry!" She begged in a panic.

Jessica imdiately rushed to the scene and stood in-between them. She crouched down and started to check Brooke if she was hard from being so close to the source.

"Tch." Tara hissed, "What an over-reactor! I barely even smacked you!"

Jessica inhaled sharply, finding it in her not to yell at Tara for not noticing the woman was having a panic attack.

"Co on, let’s get you out of here-" Jessica tried to touch Brooke, but her body shifted into survival mode and resisted her touch.

"Please, don’t-" she tried begging, but Tara rolled her eyes and reached for her elbow.

"Stop faking it already and co with !" She yelled angrily, stunning Brooke into covering her ears and closing her eyes.

"Please! No! Don’t co any closer! I beg you!"

Jessica was horrified, "Tara, that’s enough-"

But Tara wasn’t through, she raised her hand to ’smack so sense’ into Brooke, wearing a satisfied smirk.

However, her plan was thwarted, when a hand held back her wrist...
