Miss Crane? Brooke’s tone was clearly taunting, Cassie would’ve raised her hand and cracked a slap on her face, had the board mbers not been around. She straightened her back, keeping her composure enough to ask, "What are you doing at my company? This is a private eting, outsiders are not allowed."

Before Brooke could answer, Ethan sharply inserted, "Cassie sit down, the eting is starting." he then gestured Brooke towards the oval shaped table.

Cassie watched in awe as her worthless half sister followed her fiance, the rest of the board shared the sa confused expression as Cassie, they were told they were eting with the new president of the company, so why was Brooke Larson here.

One of the n stepped forward and placed a tablet on the screen, then tapped on a video call request. The call went through in seconds, revealing a blonde woman seated on a black office chair, their back turned to the cara.

"I assu you’re all here? Then the eting can start." The woman said, her voice soothing.

Cassie watched Ethan sit next to Brooke and balled her fists tightly, "What the hell is going on?!" she charged towards her sister, and gripped her shoulder.

The security rushed to remove her, but Brooke raised her hand, stopping them. Her tone, slow and concise, she asked, "Cassie, is this how you treat your co-worker?"

Cassie scoffed, "Don’t be ridiculous! You already quit working at the company, why would you be a co-worker?"

Ethan got up, grabbed her wrist and forcefully pried her hand off. He sent her a sharp glare, as though warning her not to cross the line, sothing he had not done since his early days in his marriage to Brooke.

Slicing through the tension, the woman on the screen said, "Thank you Brooke, for saving the trouble of having to introduce you to everyone. As you all have heard, our agency will be having Brooke Larson join us." she announced.

Cassie’s jaw dropped to the ground, she turned to the tablet, "And who the hell are you-"

"I advise you watch your tone when speaking to , I’m not as accommodating of your excesses like the forr president." B.G said, alerting the confused board of her presence.

Brooke plastered a smile, "Thank you madam president for offering a contract, I promise to take this agency to greater heights."

"Of course, I only recruit the best." B.G. replied, fanning Cassie’s anger.

"Oh, but I must also comnd Mr Halton for recomnding you in the first place, he certainly has a good eye." the president said, reaching for a cigar.

Cassie ran her fingers through her hair, her face flushed from stress, "Ethan what is she saying? You recomnded this woman?"

Ethan proudly answered, "And what of it? Do I need to report my every decision to you?" his retort was a warning, but Cassie decided to ignore it. Thankfully, another board mber was on her side and spoke up.

"Madam president, we’re all glad to have you, but don’t you think that this decision should’ve been discussed with us beforehand? This woman does not have a good reputation, taking her in would damage-" their speech was cut off by B.G.

"Brooke is the number one trending topic, we would be foolish not to utilize her, and besides, she was recently involved in a scandal involving a major shareholder of this agency. It’s only smart we cut our loses, if I didn’t take her in, who knows what she would’ve posted online." the president defended.

Brooke smiled, "Please don’t tease madam president, I don’t have such ambitions, and Mr Halton and I are just friends." she turned her attention to the rest of the board.

"I used to work here as a staff mber, so trust when I say, that if I wanted to run this company to the ground, I would’ve done it a long ti ago." she gave a teasing smile that sent shivers down their spines. Her words were like a looming threat, that forced whatever doubts the board mbers had to dissipate.

Seeing as they were being swayed, Cassie stomped her foot, "This is absurd! Are we going to let this woman join? She clearly has a grudge against ! She’s a ticking ti bomb-" midway through, the president cut her off.

Her tone harsh, the president scolded, "At least she’s bringing in money! Ever since you got knocked up, how much have you contributed to this agency? We still haven’t talked about the pile of debt your father left behind. Do you honestly think I’m stupid?!"

Cassie’s eyes went wide, who the hell was this bitch to raise her voice to her?

"Do you really think Brooke can make more money than ? Are you forgetting just who the hell I am?" she scoffed at the thought. One movie as a side character ant nothing when placed next to her nurous achievents.

The president chuckled, "About that, it’s good you brought it up. Because, Brooke has landed a role in Mr Lee’s new drama." the president announced, raising brows across the table.

Mr Lee? Had they heard that right?

Wasn’t he the director for...

Cassie looked at Brooke in disbelief.

Brooke tossed her an all knowing look, "Mr Lee reached out to that he was seeking a female lead for his new drama series." she looked at Cassie, "Considering his usual lead was indisposed."

"And it’s a good thing you took the role, it’ll surely garner the public’s attention. We can’t afford to let your na wear out." the president went on.

Cassie was so stunned she held onto the table for support. "Mr Lee knows where his loyalty lies, he wouldn’t give my slot to a no-na actress like you!" she argued, but Brooke kept her cool.

"Don’t be so offended, after all it doesn’t really matter which one of us gets the role." she got up and placed a hand on Cassie’s shoulder, staring softly into her eyes, Brooke went on, "After all, as long as we keep this within the agency, everything checks out, right?" she looked over Cassie’s shoulder at the tablet.

"Right boss?" she tossed her a reckless grin.

"Of course. Cassie, don’t get too worked up, shouldn’t you congratulate Brooke for landing this role?"

Cassie was flabbergasted!

Thank the bitch for stealing a role from her?!

How dare her?!

How dare all of them sit at the table and act like this was normal?!
