As Dartnerly initiated the first battle, the entirety of Tail Fin Town began to descend into chaos.
However, even before that, the Church had already fallen into disarray.
Dong He's report had officially reached the Judgnt Hall.
For nearly a year, the Judgnt Hall had been suppressed by Nemus. Recently, in his bid to compete for the position of bishop, Roman had challenged Nemus regarding the issue with Opper.
Even then, people were still worried that Nemus would retaliate later.
Right at this crucial mont, Dong He submitted a baffling report, producing a massive pile of evidence.
Much of it proved that Nemus was involved in the smuggling of whale products.
This included smuggling route maps, as well as detailed information on the involvent of Opper and others.
Through this, it could basically be proven indirectly that Nemus had close ties to the Ope rchant Guild.
By leveraging this to launch an attack, Nemus would be completely unable to escape sanctions. At the very least, according to the Judgnt Hall's special regulations, a Restriction Order could be placed on his position as Grand Knight.
At the sa ti, the Judgnt Hall could also enter a state of first-level alert.
When that happened, the scope of matters the Judgnt Hall could intervene in would skyrocket.
Therefore, imdiately after receiving the report letter, Roman notified Isabella.
Indeed, even though they were competitors, when it ca to matters of fairness and transparency, even Roman trusted Isabella.
This was the charm of Isabella; when it involved the common people and the fair exercise of power, she could always be trusted.
Isabella, having just declared war on Nemus, found Roman presenting this material right before her.
She did not hesitate for long. Her intention had always been to ally with the Governance Faction to investigate Nemus. Since Nemus was a Grand Knight, as long as he used his authority to interfere, she would be unable to access many relevant archives.
But once Nemus's power was restricted, investigating him would beco much simpler.
Over the past half a year, Nemus had absolutely done many things. It was impossible for him to have cleaned up completely after every single incident. With a thorough investigation, they would definitely uncover traces, and by following those traces, they could find additional evidence.
These pieces of evidence might seem like trivial matters, but countless major events were exposed through minor details.
As long as there was enough evidence, they could convict Nemus.
The most important point was that if Nemus was truly using his authority as Grand Knight to cover things up, then once this cover was removed, the secrets he was hiding would very likely be exposed.
Consequently, they acted imdiately, initiating the judgnt procedures of the Judgnt Hall.
Thus, just as Nemus observed Dartnerly charging in, personnel from the Judgnt Hall arrived at his door with an investigation Restriction Order, stripping him of his powers as Grand Knight.
At the sa ti, the Restriction Order explicitly stated that all actions taken today would be recorded by the Grid, sent to the Sky Spring City Grand Cathedral, and even filed at the Precept Church Headquarters.
If it was ultimately determined that Nemus was innocent, the Judgnt Hall would be penalized. Furthermore, if severe consequences arose during this process, and it was found to be a power struggle rather than a legitimate investigation, it would be classified as a false accusation, and the accusers would suffer the legal backlash of their false charges.
During this period, if Nemus engaged in any behavior that violated the Restriction Order, whatever issues were later uncovered would result in harsher punishnts. However, if no issues were found, and it could be proven that exceeding the restrictions was necessary to handle an ergency, he would be completely exonerated.
All in all, it was still a ga of high-stakes gambling.
The Restriction Order maximized the exclusion of a high-ranking official's power to interfere with an investigation, but it also ensured that the official wouldn't lose the authority to handle ergencies just because they were restricted.
If the individual was entirely guiltless, then it would be the Judgnt Squad who should be trembling in fear. Nemus looked at the Restriction Order and chuckled.
As expected, as soon as soone charged into the fray, others would naturally follow to join the assault.
Dong He, a man who already had no hope left, had only just delivered his report when Dartnerly simultaneously launched his own attack against Nemus.
One after the other, they executed a perfect coordinated assault.
Looking at Nemus, Roman took a deep breath, remaining vigilant in case Nemus, pushed to desperation, lashed out like a cornered beast.
It had been the sa back when Westbin was still a Grand Knight.
The Judgnt Hall had discovered irregularities, so they imdiately applied for an investigation Restriction Order. At the sa ti, because the matter concerning the old pastor was of grave importance, they called in reinforcents from Sky Spring City.
Gotthard, a Golden Rank entity, found the leader of the Floating World Society, killed him along with several elders who happened to be present, and left after retrieving a batch of evidence.
Among that batch was the majority of the evidence proving Westbin's guilt.
At that ti, there was far more evidence against Westbin than anticipated. So, when the Restriction Order ca down, Westbin went completely berserk, murdered people, and fled.
Roman couldn't help but worry at this mont. If Nemus suddenly went berserk, would he be able to defend against it?
However, it was clear that Nemus wasn't going to give him the chance to test that theory.
"I can accept the Restriction Order, but..." Nemus spoke words that sounded more like a threat. "It seems a large-scale battle is about to break out in Tail Fin Town. Are you truly certain you want to restrict right now?"
"You don't need to worry about that," Roman shot back forcefully. Although he felt a tinge of fear inwardly, he didn't want to lose face at this mont.
Yet, seeing the smile on Nemus's face, a sinister fire began to rise within his heart.
He could sense Nemus's absolute contempt for him.
It was as if Nemus was certain—certain that Roman couldn't bear the responsibility of the severe consequences that the Restriction Order might bring.
Being deed incompetent was exactly what pierced Roman to his very core.
"We will uncover your cris, and then step by step, we will force you into a corner. We will tear away your disguises layer by layer, drag you down from your current position, and turn you into a universally despised rat scurrying across the street!" Roman couldn't help but spit out harsh words.
"Heh... I hope you can actually manage that," Nemus offered a fake smile. Right then, the blaring sound of an alarm suddenly erupted outside.
Simultaneously, Isabella and Roman received information transmitted through the Grid—the Church prison was under attack.
At this mont, Nemus's Grid communicator, set up in his office, also received the ssage.
However, Nemus didn't quickly dispatch personnel as he normally would. Instead, he simply looked at Isabella with a hint of a smile.
Seeing this, Roman's blood instantly boiled. He wanted to interrogate Nemus right then and there to see if this attack was connected to him.
After all, how could there be such a coincidence? Nemus had just threatened them with the prospect of a large-scale battle, and imdiately a mob assault on a Church facility—a rare event not seen in decades—occurred.
However, Isabella, who hadn't spoken much from the sidelines, stopped Roman.
"The most important thing right now is to reinforce the prison!"
After finishing her sentence, Isabella looked toward Nemus. "Please head to the Confinent Room, Grand Knight, and temporarily suspend the exercise of your authority."
