The ntion of "couple appearance" made Hector Chaucer’s lips curl slightly.
David Grant said that he and Tiana Linden increasingly resembled a married couple.
No matter the reason behind David Grant’s words.
Hector Chaucer felt delighted.
Such an iron-blooded man, when he smiled, his originally sharp and firm features were suddenly softened by the smile in his eyes.
As if a jar of honey had been carelessly spilled.
The sweetness spread lightly along his relaxed thin lips.
The lighting swirled at the banquet.
Hector Chaucer’s features seed to be coated in a warm layer of soft light.
Just then, Christopher Grant and Jane Sumrs approached.
The two of them greeted Hector Chaucer, Tiana Linden, and Daisy.
Finally, Jane Sumrs’ gaze landed on Hector Chaucer.
For a mont, Jane Sumrs was lost in thought.
Wow!
Could this man actually smile?
His expression, usually numb, aloof, and iron-blooded, surprisingly showed tenderness akin to lting ice and snow.
Such tenderness stirred ripples in Jane Sumrs’ heart.
Suddenly, she had a shaless thought.
To spend a night with a man like Hector Chaucer who was both iron-blooded and tender.
The experience must be exhilarating!
Imrsed in her fantasy, Jane Sumrs nearly forgot she was Christopher Grant’s wife.
She stared at Hector Chaucer.
This unusual gaze was noticed by Tiana Linden.
He looked at Hector Chaucer, then at Christopher Grant, and lastly at Jane Sumrs, but by then she had stopped observing Hector Chaucer.
Tiana Linden, who once mingled in high society, knew that those elite debutantes harbored inappropriate thoughts about Hector Chaucer.
Each wanted to spend a night with Hector Chaucer.
She hoped she’d rely been mistaken just now.
Jane Sumrs had been lovingly married to Christopher for years; she should know her limits.
However, a woman’s intuition is sharp, and there was definitely sothing wrong with how Jane Sumrs looked at Hector Chaucer.
Feeling Tiana Linden’s straightforward stare, Jane Sumrs felt guilty.
She lowered her head.
Hector Chaucer was Christopher Grant’s good buddy since childhood.
When Christopher Grant was away, she could ss around with other n, but she shouldn’t set her sights on Hector Chaucer.
A sense of sha crept up her heart.
The more ashad she felt, the more sweetly she clutched Christopher Grant’s hand.
As if to conceal sothing.
At this mont, Hector Chaucer smiled and asked David Grant:
"I recall that Uncle Grant has quite a bit of knowledge about The Book of Changes and Sinology?"
Under the lights, David Grant smiled and responded:
"I know a thing or two."
"Aiden, Tiana, next ti when you’re free, I’ll give you both a thorough reading."
"You two are really comrades through adversity, and should you marry, it would be a lovely match."
"By then, I, this old man, will have another wedding to attend."
Saying this, David Grant’s smile deepened.
Opposite him, Tiana Linden felt a bit awkward.
But she still graciously replied:
"Uncle Grant, I’ve known Hector Chaucer since childhood, over twenty years now."
"I think you might have gotten it wrong this ti."
After the elders finished speaking, Daisy turned to Christopher Grant.
"Uncle Christopher, where’s Joshua?"
The little girl had been clamoring to play with Joshua on the way here.
Jane Sumrs seized the opportunity to step forward and took Daisy’s hand, "Daisy, Aunt Jane will take you to find Joshua."
Tiana Linden followed them.
From afar, a pair of intense eyes kept watching the backs of Tiana Linden and her daughter.
Until they were out of sight, the gaze remained like a thread.
Aiden rembered many years ago when David Grant casually ntioned to him: Aiden, I can’t see why you and Tiana don’t look like a couple?
At that ti, he’d been adamant: Impossible. Tiana Linden was destined to be my wife.
But just now David Grant casually ntioned that Hector Chaucer and Tiana Linden looked like a married couple.
He was utterly panicked.
As people were toasted and glasses clinked, Aiden took two glasses of red wine and walked up to Hector Chaucer.
He handed a glass to Hector Chaucer, "Does Tiana Linden know you like her?"
Hector Chaucer didn’t take the glass.
He even disdained speaking with Aiden, "What are you trying to say?"
Aiden: "Aiden, I have never begged anyone before. But this ti, can you let go, consider it a favor for . You should know, I’ve loved Tiana Linden since we were kids; I can’t live without her."
Hmph!
Hector Chaucer snorted.
This was the biggest joke he’d ever heard.
"Aiden, if you don’t have to choose her."
Hector Chaucer’s eyes gradually turned cold, sharp.
Gazing at Aiden, as if he were about to slice him up.
"How do you know I haven’t chosen her and can’t help it?"
His entire life was shadowed by gloom.
His brothers wanted him dead.
His biological father treated him as a discardable chess piece on a board.
Even the mother who gave birth to him offered him no affection.
When he was nine, and Tiana Linden jumped into the water with a worn-out swim ring to save him without hesitation, he was determined she was the one.
Yet the love buried deep in his heart hadn’t had the chance to be expressed.
Tiana Linden had already beco the little girl tagging along behind Aiden, clamoring to marry him when she grew up.
"Aiden, Tiana won’t turn back."
"If you don’t believe , try it."
He deliberately remained composed, provoking Aiden.
Indeed, Aiden’s fists clenched tightly, his anger evident on his face.
Aiden left, taking with him the two glasses of red wine and his fury.
He drank heavily at David Grant’s birthday banquet.
At the banquet, Joshua and Daisy had so food and played together.
Tiana Linden and Jane Sumrs watched over them.
Jane Sumrs asked, "Tiana, you’ve been staying at Hector Chaucer’s villa; are you interested in him?"
Under the night sky, Tiana Linden stared into Jane Sumrs’ eyes, not answering, but instead asked, "When we arrived just now, your gaze at Hector Chaucer seed off."
"No way," Jane Sumrs nervously denied, quickly averting her eyes, "I am sweetly married to Christopher. How could I spare a glance for another man? You must have seen wrong."
Tiana Linden didn’t say another word.
She watched the two children play.
After a while, Jane Sumrs advised, "Tiana, Aiden is still Daisy’s biological father, and he knows he was wrong. Why not give him another chance? I think he’s quite pitiful."
Tiana Linden coldly replied: "It’s not your concern. Sitting with you is just for Joshua’s sake."
When Christopher Grant ca over, Tiana went to the restroom.
On her way back, she walked through blotches of moonlit flowers.
Suddenly, soone behind her grabbed her wrist.
Before realizing, a strong sll of alcohol hit her.
In the moonlight, she clearly saw Aiden’s drunken eyes.
His whole person was filled with sorrow.
"Let go!"
She tried to pull away.
But the grip on her wrist only tightened, "Tiana, don’t ignore , okay?"
Aiden pointed to his chest with another hand, "It hurts, it hurts!"
It had been so long since he last held her.
His strong arms enveloped her.
A drunken kiss landed on her hair, descended to her most sensitive ear, "Tiana, you haven’t called Aiden in so long..."
He loved it most when she called him Aiden, clinging to his waist, climbing onto his back, never wanting to leave his blurred figure.
The next mont.
Slap!
Tiana slapped Aiden across the face.
"Aiden, can’t you have so decency?"
"Are you sober yet?"
If not, she didn’t mind slapping him again.
Not far away, under the tree, two people watched everything happening in the flower bushes.
