Silas Cheney got straight to the point: "Don’t worry about Sarah Sullivan. I’ll contact the Sullivan Family to take her away. If they don’t step in, I’ll contact the police directly. In any case, I won’t let her bother you again. There’s no need for you to pay her any attention."
Thea Lynch was concerned he might be too busy. "It’s fine. You and our brother are abroad, just focus on your work. No need to worry about this. She hasn’t done anything too extre, just asked a few questions."
"Even so, that’s not acceptable." Silas responded, "This all started because of . It’s a ss I created, so I have to clean it up."
He really needed to handle this properly.
Although Sarah found Thea, it was most likely because of Ian Preston. But if it weren’t for him, Sarah wouldn’t have suddenly noticed Ian.
A chain reaction.
Ultimately, he was the catalyst.
There was no way to let Thea handle this issue.
"Alright. You contact the Sullivan Family first. Let know the outco."
Thea went along with him, and took the opportunity to talk about the assistant matter.
Due to the ti zone difference, Thea didn’t chat with him for long, just a few minutes before ending the call.
In the afternoon, since Thea arrived earlier in the morning, she left work a bit earlier than usual.
As she exited the lobby, Thea saw the driver from the Preston Family.
Worried she might not notice, he vigorously waved his hand.
"Miss Lynch, the car is over here."
Once in the car, Thea casually glanced around her surroundings.
She didn’t see Sarah, but she did spot Leo Shaw being stopped by security. His gaze was fixed on her car, face filled with resentnt.
Thea took one look before withdrawing her gaze, telling the driver, "Please take back to the estate."
"Sure," the driver replied.
——
The next morning, just as Thea arrived at the company, she spotted a stranger’s back at the office door.
"Who are you?" she asked aloud.
The person was startled, quickly turned around, and bowed, "Hello, Foreman Lynch! I’m Diana Dawson."
Thea’s gaze swept over her face, realizing this was her new assistant.
"Why so early? I thought you wouldn’t be starting for a few more days."
She opened the office door, gesturing for the other to co in.
Foreman Chandler and the others hadn’t arrived yet, so it was just the two of them in the office.
Thea sat down, turned on her computer, and heard her say, "I hadn’t been gone from the company long yesterday when I received a call from HR asking when I could start. It happened to be quite convenient for ... so I ca today."
Thea nodded, asking, "Has HR briefed you on everything?"
"Yes, yes!" HR manager personally ca over early and repeatedly gave reminders and a few of Thea’s daily habits and taboos.
At first glance, it seed terribly cumberso. But once the manager left, she stood there thinking it over carefully and realized Foreman Lynch’s rules weren’t as daunting as they sounded.
Basically, as long as the work was error-free, Foreman wouldn’t mind other matters. Quite friendly to subordinates.
"Alright."
Seeing her standing there unsure of what to do, Thea opened a docunt and casually asked, "Have you had breakfast?"
"Uh, not yet."
She arrived very early, so there was no ti to eat.
"Go grab sothing from the cafeteria, and after you’re done, bring back an order of soup dumplings."
Thea handed her own card, "Use mine."
"Got it! I’ll be right back!"
"No rush. Finish your al first. I’m not hungry yet," Thea checked the ti, "Just bring it back in twenty minutes."
Diana paused for a mont.
Thea waved her off, "You still have nineteen minutes. Aren’t you going?"
"Right! I’ll go, I’ll go!"
——
The usual folks from Foreman Chandler’s group brought Thea her coffee.
The knocks on the door halted their chatting as they turned around.
Soon enough, Diana cautiously pushed open the door. Seeing so many people in the office caused her heart to skip a beat.
Foreman Chandler raised an eyebrow, "Oh, which departnt’s little girl is this? She seems unfamiliar."
Thea glanced at her, "Just leave it on the table."
"Ah... okay!" Diana snapped back, quickly stepping forward to place the card and breakfast on Thea’s desk.
Her eyes caught Thea’s iced Aricano by her hand, then she looked at the hot soy milk she had brought...
For a mont, unsure of what to do.
"Who’s it for?" Thea noticed too.
She had only asked for the soup dumplings, not soy milk.
Diana beca instantly flustered, worried Thea might be angry at her presumption. Tentatively, she explained, "I brought it for you. I tasted it and it was quite good, thought you might need a drink since you only asked for the soup dumplings..."
"I’m sorry, I’m so sorry!"
The people around Foreman Chandler were startled by her behavior.
They quickly stepped in to defuse things, "This little girl must be Foreman Lynch’s... new assistant?"
Smart people could see the situation at a glance.
Thea acknowledged it, and then told her assistant, "I didn’t an to bla you."
"Thank you." She took the soy milk but reminded her: "I don’t drink soy milk, so no need to bring it next ti."
Diana let out a breath of relief, "Okay."
She then saw Thea standing and gesturing for her to co over. Diana walked over, feeling sowhat bewildered.
"This is my assistant, Diana Dawson."
Then, Thea introduced her to Foreman Chandler and the rest.
Diana was on tenterhooks, greeting everyone one by one.
Foreman Chandler noticed her nervousness and made a teasing comnt to ease the atmosphere: "Don’t worry, little Dawson, in the developnt departnt, the folks in this office have good tempers."
"Old Chandler’s right. We don’t bite, no need to worry haha."
Thea had a call coming in, "I need to answer a call outside. You all chat."
Once she left, Foreman Chandler lowered his voice, addressing Diana, "I’m telling you, little Dawson, you’re in the right place with Foreman Lynch!"
"Foreman Lynch just doesn’t show much emotion, looks stern. But she’s a good person."
"If there’s sothing you’re unsure about regarding her preferences, you can secretly ask us next ti. No need to worry about making decisions on your own."
"Got it, got it!"
Diana felt flattered and surprised that an experienced coworker was giving her advice.
"But you’re really fortunate. I rember you just interviewed yesterday, right? And you’re starting today. Seems like Foreman Lynch has high expectations for you."
Hearing that, Diana began to sweat nervously, "No, no..."
She was just a little assistant.
Foreman Chandler chuckled, "Since you’re new, why don’t you ask Foreman Lynch if she’d like to treat everyone to a al to celebrate a bit later?"
"Ah." Diana caught on, "I’ll treat, I’ll treat! Can’t let Foreman Lynch pay."
Just as she finished speaking, Thea’s voice ca from the door, "What does everyone feel like eating? Pick a place. Dinner’s on tonight."
Diana turned quickly, shaking her head, "No, let treat."
Foreman Chandler interjected in her favor, "You’re Foreman Lynch’s assistant, which ans you’re essentially hers now. So the al, of course, has to be on her! That’s how we do things around here. If you don’t let Foreman treat, it ans your heart isn’t really with her."
"What’s up, little Dawson, thinking of jumping ship already? Or you want to join my team instead?"
