Even though they didn’t get a clear answer from Zhang Yuan, the Half-sphere people were quite satisfied despite their anxiety. Because the first successful case had been born! The quality of their entire civilization’s population could be boosted significantly, becoming even more sanctified!
In summary, this was a groundbreaking step.
Facing the head of the Unreal Laboratory, Professor Zhang Yuan, they had to show respect. When they first started cooperating, they might have shown distrust and had so doubts, but now, after so many years of collaboration, all the scientists from the Half-sphere Civilization were convinced, and they just wanted to latch onto his coattails.
If anyone really dared to question the scientists at the Unreal Laboratory, they would be the first to rush up and rebut.
99.999% mory completion, they could now proceed to the next step!
Zhang Yuan rubbed his tired eyes and said to a bunch of Half-sphere people, "All right, that’s enough for today. You go back first and observe to see if any small-probability complications arise, keep a good record of the relevant data, and don’t be careless. In a few days... before completing the final puzzle, co back to check the status."
"Yes!"
"Applause!"
A round of applause crackled and popped.
The teams from both sides parted ways at an underground junction, with Zhang Yuan and a group of human scientists going to the restaurant to finish their al while the Half-sphere people remained caught up in their frenetic mood, turning heads, wriggling hips, and clapping hands.
Suddenly, the high-ranking leaders of the Half-sphere Civilization began to discuss quietly among themselves.
"A completion rate of 99.999%, we can proceed with our plan now, right?"
"Yes, indeed we can begin. There’s no need to hesitate over the completion rate anymore."
"But..."
The group fell suddenly silent, as if these Half-sphere people were facing a historic fork in the road, and the previously exuberant atmosphere slowly faded away.
After a mont of silence, their leader spoke up, "Lord Karma, are you... ready?"
This Half-sphere person nad Karma was overco with an uncontrollable sadness, as mories surged in his mind like the tide...
After more than two thousand years of diligent work, through mory infusion, he had achieved a 99.999% completion rate and had beco part of the highest echelon of the civilization!
After receiving the infused mories, he learned of his ultimate mission: not to continue with his original work, not to beco a leader directing the entire civilization, but to sacrifice himself, using his two thousand years of work experience to create a more perfect mory template that was better adapted to the tis!
The entire civilization... the 367th mory template!
When this task had begun to take shape in his mind vaguely, Karma quivered with excitent, a flood of complex emotions overwhelming him.
What a magnificent, yet daunting task!
In fact, there was no need for the mory to be restored to 99.999999% completion or higher—99.999% was essentially considered eting the standard.
His thoughts had beco highly purified, willing to sacrifice his everything for the entire civilization.
But to complete this new mory template, so preparation was still needed.
First, Karma had to beco a true Saint, abandoning his personal preferences and all that was unreasonable, striving for moderation as far as possible; if he couldn’t achieve moderation, the many successors to follow would inherit his preferences, which would be detrintal to the whole civilization.
Second, he needed to sort through thousands of years of mories, extract the essence, discard the dross, delete most of the content, and pass on mories that conford to the future developnt of the era.
After completing this mory template, the next generation of newborns would be able to inherit vast amounts of his legacy, even if only 20% of the mory transfer would be enough to surpass the current generation!
Seeing Karma lost in thought, the leader of the Half-sphere Civilization continued, "If you have any unfulfilled wishes, we are willing to help you... You know, a perfect mory template cos at a price."
The so-called cost refers to... the life of a Saint.
All the Half-sphere people in the team looked at this newly born "Saint" with sorrowful eyes. They were a bit nervous and didn’t know what to say. Life is priceless, even for the sake of an entire civilization, it is still priceless.
"I understand, please don’t worry about anything," Karma said. "Three days will be enough for ."
"We trust you."
After returning to his residence, Karma entered a ditative state. As a true intelligent being, he was naturally afraid of dying. These next few days could very well be his last, and thereafter, he would belong to the entire civilization, transforming from an ordinary individual into the civilization’s Saint.
The first thing he did was play his favorite ga, "Glory of the Dominator," for half a day, with both wins and losses.
A ga he once greatly enjoyed no longer seed as fun as he had imagined. This showed that so of his internal behavior patterns had already changed after this round of mory transcription.
Then he turned off the computer...
The second thing was to have one final reunion with his friends and family.
The atmosphere of the gathering was lively, as everyone played gas and engaged in the ancient Kunka Card, with applause bursting out now and then.
"99.999% mory restoration degree, congratulations!"
"Applause!"
But within this, there seed to be an undeniably desolate and sorrowful undertone.
"Karma, you’re going to leave us soon, right?"
"Yes, a total of a three-day holiday," Karma replied.
"I’ve heard so strange rumors; after reaching a 99.999% completion of mory, the 367th mory template will be born."
"Yes, you should congratulate , shouldn’t you?"
The sparse applause that followed, by this point, no one even felt like playing cards anymore. Karma was about to transform from an ordinary worker into an absolute Saint, such an emotive change.
These ordinary workers didn’t know whether to be envious or sad. They just felt a sense of lancholy in the other person.
The third thing was to deal with his estate, as Karma donated every item in his room to people in need.
While doing this, he found it to be much more interesting than playing gas...
At this point, the entire Half-sphere Civilization had heard about this event and was celebrating for the ergence of a Saint with a 99.999% mory restoration degree. So celebrated joyfully, while others mourned; these feelings were as personal as the temperature of the water one drank, known only to the drinker.
Karma did not partake in this jubilation. He pondered, fell silent, observed the multitude of living beings around him, and hesitated...
This was a grand plan of the whole civilization, a project that had continued for tens of thousands of years, a new mory template. Now, the weight of this pressure fell entirely on him.
Karma began to sort out his emotions and mories. His current ideology had already beco very much saint-like, embodying the absolute justice identified by the Half-sphere Civilization, but the instinct for genetic survival and the fear of death incessantly haunted him, preventing him from fully concentrating.
He was afraid, afraid of abandoning everything he possessed; he feared becoming the civilization’s 367th mory template.
Once dead, there would be nothing left.
Even as a Saint, one cannot overco this fear of death.
But this fear beca an obstacle to the entire plan. A Saint should not harbor such emotions. Even if he was willing to sacrifice himself, he shouldn’t have such feelings, as they could potentially be transferred into the mory template.
