Chapter 772: Chapter 770: A Breakthrough

Zhang Yuan sighed deeply, recalling the long and tortuous research process into the Black Box issue.

First, the strangest point was that people couldn’t observe the specific operating function of the Virtual World; they could only copy it through so special thods.

Through this operation, a Virtual World would diverge into two “parallel universes.”

This special way of copying required avoiding the possibility of the running function being observed from a logical level. It had to be a logical evasion; whether soone was present on-site or a cara was there, it would not be permitted. As long as there was any thod that could record the running function, allowing it to be analyzed by intelligent life, then the copy would fail, and the original version would be destroyed.

Second, humans also couldn’t observe Self-awareness, but they could copy it in certain ways.

The thod of operation was similar to copying a Virtual World.

Of course, the copied version’s Self-awareness was different from the original. The two were vastly different; thus, copying Self-awareness didn’t an much.

After pondering so much, Zhang Yuan suddenly had an odd thought: humanity might have gotten cause and effect backwards!

Humans have always believed that the Pangu Brain, with its sufficient computing power, could carry a large number of intelligent life forms. The calculation power of the Bozeman Quantum Consciousness Converter seed endless, able to accommodate billions or even trillions of people.

Where in the world was there such a powerful computer?

Even calculating a single function that required more computing power per second than the number of atoms in the Universe, such computational power was still not enough.

“Perhaps the Self-awareness of intelligent life is itself a series of true quantum computers!”

So, humanity might have gotten cause and effect backwards.

Because Self-awareness didn’t need a computer to deliberately simulate it; it existed inherently and would operate in its own inherent way.

Just like cells exist in reality, simulating any cell with a computer required enormous computational power, higher precision models demanded even more power, and one might even need to use quantum computers.

But what about reality? Cells exist on their own.

The movent of cells, the motion of proteins, was mandated by the rules of the Universe — naturally occurring and requiring no computation.

It was as if all the structures within this cell ca with their own computational power.

“If the self-awareness of life cos with computational power, then there’s no problem fitting any number of people into the Virtual World.”

“It might even be possible that the more people there are, the greater the computational power.”

“The Virtual World is a Universe artificially created by a Level 6 Civilization; Self-awareness is a part of the natural Universe, the two can be compatible, at least partially.”

Zhang Yuan’s mind suddenly cleared, and he seed to have stumbled upon a peculiar point — just like so science fiction novels described, the human brain was an incredibly brilliant computer!

Self-awareness was a precious treasure!

If this hypothesis was correct, and the quantum entangled state of human Self-awareness was naturally occurring and an extrely powerful computer, then past ideas and research might have been backward from a causal perspective, making it difficult to progress.

This train of thought opened a new idea. Otherwise, relying only on current technology, plus a bit of luck and experience, it would be very hard to approach a 100% completion rate; one might get stuck at a certain stage. No matter how many more lives the Half-sphere people sacrificed, it would be difficult to advance further.

“So… let’s do it this way!”

His idea was very direct: use one Black Box technology to solve another Black Box problem. Since the “Virtual World” was an artificial randomness created by a Level 6 Civilization, and Self-awareness was part of the natural Universe’s randomness.

Why not use the technology of the Virtual World, extract a Half-sphere person’s Self-awareness and mories, and use that as a foundation to attempt building a Virtual World. Combine the randomness created by a Level 6 Civilization with the natural randomness of the Universe.

This was sowhat similar to the No. 13 Virtual World, which was built using the Self-awareness and mories of a large number of intelligent life forms to make the world more stable.

“But if it’s just a single life’s Self-awareness and mories, it’s basically just one person’s ntal world… The probability of such a world collapsing is very high.”

“If, after injecting a large amount of mory, the ntal world collapses, it equates to an experintal failure. But if the ntal world doesn’t collapse, it ans Self-awareness and mories are completely matched…”

“Either way, using this thod to construct a Virtual World has a much higher success rate than the random infusion of mory!”

“Taking one person’s mory and forcibly constructing a Virtual World… I’ll na it, an individual’s Information Universe!”

Although the explanation was a bit complex, Zhang Yuan felt increasingly that this plan was highly feasible!

Building a Virtual World, humans had a lot of experience, data, and so mathematical models, and they were concrete. Turning an abstract issue into one that was visible and tangible reduced the level of difficulty substantially.

Otherwise, relying only on human intelligence to explore the relationship between mory and Self-awareness would be too difficult.

This was not an issue that a Fourth-level Civilization should concern itself with; the shortcuts weren’t so easy to take.

“What’s wrong?” Lin Xuanyuan saw him scratching his head and ear, his face flushed with excitent, and couldn’t help but ask.

“I’ve co up with a new approach; the failure rate is high, but at least it’s a new idea!”

Zhang Yuan cald down; he wasn’t as excited as he’d imagined. In his anticipation, because of this new experintal plan, many more Half-sphere people would be sacrificed.

Sotis, he felt a bit lost; did these guys really not fear death?

They must fear dying. Once, a Half-sphere person over 3000 years old of grade A entered the laboratory, and they had a lengthy conversation.

To this Half-sphere person, he was already a high-ranking leader of the Half-sphere Civilization. He had power, status, honor, everything; the only thing he had left was the grand dream of “replicating the ancestors,” but he still feared death. The fear of death was an instinct of life.

It was a contradiction, yet he still ca; such a spirit was admirable.

After the experint, this leader beca an idiot, having lost everything.

Then a second one ca in, and a third… The fear of death did not hinder the ambitious spirit of the Half-sphere Civilization.

This presented a significant psychological burden for all human workers.

A shortcut to a Level 5 Civilization was just a shortcut, yet so difficult, it couldn’t help but make one sigh.
