Chapter 731: Chapter 728: The 6th Preparation Plan

Zhang Yuan took a deep breath, put those distracting thoughts behind him, and loudly said, “Let’s begin, everyone. Quickly, first cut off part of the power supply, just keeping a small portion of the electronic equipnt operational, and cut off all external communication!”

Imdiately following, several soldiers behind him, after a check, directly disconnected the main cables inside the spaceship as well as six backup cables. The spaceship was powered down; then, with a “click”, the backup batteries reconnected to the power supply. These original safety designs ironically beca a problem.

“Report! We expect that within 3 minutes, we can remove all the backup batteries and stop most of the equipnt from functioning!”

“Understood.”

Besides cutting the power, another thod of resisting the digital virus was internet isolation, cutting off communications to prevent spread. This was also a double-edged sword that killed one hundred enemies but hard a thousand of ourselves. To prevent the virus intrusion, all communication devices such as earphones and Bluetooth within Power Armor were dismantled, which made communication extrely difficult. Fortunately, there was air inside the spaceship, so sound could barely travel, and they had to rely on shouting or primitive thods like telegrams to communicate.

Without high-tech communication, mankind’s war technology regressed to the era of World War I.

Now, people used multi-layered technology to defend against the digital virus, including so physical isolation. Forward scouting robots would first send communication signals to Signal Station A, which then relayed to SpaceShip B, from B to C, with several checks in between. Each link had different audit thods and security chanisms, so if one was infected, it wouldn’t affect the whole system.

Moreover, whether the digital virus could transmit over astronomical units of distance was also a question.

According to the Ten-thousand-year Worm virus’s test data, it could only transmit a few light-seconds at most. The universe was full of electromagnetic noise; the farther the distance, the greater the interference, weakening its transmission capabilities.

As for other thods, naturally, the best were various technical protective asures.

Take, for example, the “Protection Lock”, developed by the Unreal Laboratory. It consisted of a biological brain and seventeen types of physical inspection devices, and virtually every supercomputer had this hardware installed.

People only knew that it could easily crack the Ten-thousand-year Worm, but whether it worked against other digital viruses, no one was sure.

There was also the “Overload Calculation System”, a technology that consud all of a computer’s processing power instantly, killing the Ten-thousand-year Worm by hogging the computational capability, a technical approach of fighting poison with poison.

These technologies were related to the Virtual World, and basically were not traded externally. Whether or not the Half-sphere people had adequate defense asures, Zhang Yuan could not be certain.

A few minutes later, seeing that the power was mostly disconnected, Zhang Yuan said, “Begin.”

A staff mber took out a specialized computer from the carried backup box, connected it to the Signal Station, took a deep breath, and pressed one of the buttons.

The screen instantly shifted.

No check would have been better, but upon examining, it was a shock!

Many “Protection Lock” programs had strange complex codes inside them, and these codes were very unusual digital signals…

These automatically generated numbers jumped densely, seemingly not affecting the operation of the Signal Station itself.

Seeing this, Zhang Yuan’s face turned green with both shock and fear, and several young people following behind imdiately leaped up, crashing onto the deck of the spaceship!

“Digital virus, it’s really the digital virus!”

At first, they felt it was a bit sensational and thought it was an overreaction by the civilization’s higher-ups because of a slight suspicion, but now…

Thinking that this thing might wreak havoc within the civilization, everyone felt chills on their scalps and cold sweat breaking out on their backs.

Now, the scale of the New Human Civilization was not just one or two spaceships as before but included two War Stars!

If the digital virus really spread wildly through the internet, truly eradicating the virus would be too difficult. And humanity was still in the dark about this virus; nobody knew its characteristics or when it might fully manifest…

“Let’s not panic just yet.”

Zhang Yuan swallowed hard, conducted a small experint, and then reconnected another Signal Station’s power.

This supercomputer started operating normally.

After reconnecting the power, the auto-generation function of the codes inside the “Protection Lock” disappeared, turning into a series of rigid data…

This showed that these things still followed the basics of a digital virus, “dead” ant it couldn’t co back to “life” again.

He turned his head around and loudly said, “Shut down all communication devices inside the spaceship, use light signals…”

“Notify the rear, implent Protocol Six for battle preparation!”

Protocol Six for battle preparation?!

A nearby soldier paused for a mont, then promptly saluted and responded, “Yes!”

Protocol Six was the highest level contingency plan during military exercises, specifically designed to combat both digital and biological viruses, entailing the total isolation of all populations, communication blackouts, power shutdowns, and nearly a complete halt of all industrial activities, retaining only the bare essentials for survival!

This was exceedingly risky for any civilization, akin to being in the universe without communication was like a normal person losing their eyes, ears, and mouth, aning they could only take hits without being able to strike back.

Who knew if there were enemies in this forsaken place!

But there was no alternative, they had to race against ti, a delay of even a minute could indeed be too late!

The lights of the small spaceship flickered a few tis.

Subsequently, the rear personnel received the information, sent out one last ssage, and then cut off all contact between them.

A Half-sphere scientist at another base was completely dumbfounded. They recognized what the light signals ant, and just when they wanted to ask more questions, the New Human Civilization directly shut down the power. The lights on The Kyushu began to go out.

In reality, they hadn’t detected anything unusual; all machinery seed normal to them…

Due to the differing technological systems, the human experts dispatched there were also of no help.

“What’s going on?”

“Commander? We haven’t received any signals from our scientists yet.”

These Half-sphere people gathered together were all in a state of shock.

The economic loss from shutting down power was trendous. Many automated industries would have entire batches of products scrapped if power was cut, necessitating trendous manpower and resources to restart. There were also people trapped in elevators, potentially causing societal chaos.

The Half-sphere Leader, Promis, shook his head vigorously—now was not the ti to consider the economy. Since the New Human Civilization had begun to shrink back, they had to do the sa. If sothing really went wrong, the Half-sphere Civilization wouldn’t withstand it.

“Shut down the power, let’s do it too! And have The Karena at the rear War Star power down as well!”

“Proceed, do it fast!”

“Yes!”

After much chaos, The Karena, a War Star at the rear of the Half-sphere Civilization, also entered a state of darkness.

The three massive War Stars, one in the front and two in the rear, floated in the outer region of the planet system, turning bustling places eerily quiet.

Various weapons lost their gleam, and all the muscle couldn’t be of any use.

Inside the War Star, naturally, there was chaos.

“Ergency evacuation notice, this is not a drill! This is not a drill!”

“Ergency evacuation notice, all personnel retreat to their respective shelters! Those trapped in elevator shafts, please do not panic, rescue teams are on their way!”

“Ergency evacuation notice, this is not a drill!”

“What happened?”

“Just do as told, for now!”

The public, clueless about what was happening, scattered and began to evacuate urgently. Fortunately, similar drills had been conducted many tis, so not much chaos ensued. This was considered the standard quality of an interstellar citizen.

anwhile, at the communications spaceship at the front line, Zhang Yuan and others were also continuously checking the characteristics of this new type of digital virus.

Strangely, its contagious power didn’t seem potent; it was far weaker than the once-dreaded “Ten-thousand-year Worm” virus. Nearby electronic devices weren’t infected on a large scale. In the past, any encounter with the Ten-thousand-year Worm would result in imdiate paralysis, but this new one seed not too contagious.
