Chapter 480: Chapter 478 Superluminal Transmission

“Please co with ,” the large insect spoke.

Zhang Yuan took one last look at his companions and followed the “Cocos-shaped Wart,” taking steps forward. Even though he was wearing the most advanced Power Armor humans had, it brought him no sense of security.

“…I’m really curious, your discipline has actually piqued the interest of the Hicks Civilization! Quite an accomplishnt! Perhaps you could sell this discipline to us, we would certainly offer a good price.”

The Cocos-shaped Wart chattered ahead, “Don’t be scared, you will travel to the distant Androda Galaxy by ans of Consciousness Upload. You should be proud to be the first person in your civilization to leave the galaxy.”

“Ah… If it were , I’d probably be very scared too. Self-awareness is indeed a peculiar thing!”

Consciousness Upload?

…Transmitting self-awareness to another galaxy?

At this mont, there was no ti for reflection. Zhang Yuan swallowed, cald his heart, and walked into a small room. Inside was an environnt suitable for human survival, including the right atmospheric pressure and a certain level of oxygen.

He took off his Power Armor and quietly lay down in a silver-white Hibernation chamber.

With a soft “click,” the Hibernation chamber slowly closed.

“Don’t be nervous, this is a Level 6 Civilization’s Consciousness Upload technology…”

A voice drifted in from outside.

It was impossible not to be nervous, even though humans had already studied this incomprehensible technology.

Soon, Zhang Yuan felt his consciousness blur, and he closed his eyes sowhat dazedly.

Unfortunately, Zhang Yuan didn’t know what it felt like to travel through ti and imnse space, and when he woke up, it seed as if only a few seconds had passed.

What filled his perception was a bizarre scene of bright and colorful oddities.

This recognition was a bit like being sucked into the high-dinsional space by the High-dinsional Fragnt at first!

But clearly, this ti the information was more orderly. The colorful lights, the vague lines, were completely different from the universe he had known before. The sensation was eerie, as if a third, fourth, fifth…eye had been forcibly opened inside his mind.

As a result, he stayed in a daze like that, with the massive data torrent completely occupying every bit of computation power in his brain.

After a while, this magical perception began to fade away bit by bit, and Zhang Yuan finally had a bit of spare capacity to think. He suddenly heard a voice calling him.

[Dear Human, hello, I am the Artificial Intelligence ‘Sigma’ here, may I ask how to address you?]

The voice, with a touch of feminine gentleness, was miraculously delivered directly into his brain.

Zhang Yuan, steeling himself, still unable to extricate himself from the infinite perception, subconsciously thought in his mind: [Zhang Yuan].

[Respected Mr. Zhang Yuan, hello, the world you are currently perceiving is indeed the perception that I share. You can adjust it at will, tune it to an environnt you are familiar with to feel most comfortable…]

[The location you are currently in is, Androda Galaxy, Central Black Hole, DM7721 star. My creator, a mber of the Hicks Civilization, Abel Ring, is slowing down their thought process to match yours in order to have a formal conversation with you. Focusing all your attention during the conversation is standard etiquette for the Hicks Civilization, please wait a mont…]

The information in this passage wasn’t extensive.

However, Zhang Yuan soon realized that his consciousness had indeed been uploaded onto a computer.

The colorful world he was now witnessing was shared with him by an artificial intelligence nad “Sigma,” and it likely included what you’d call magnetic field perception, electric field perception, and perhaps even perception of higher dinsions!

He felt his brain racing out of control, thoughts whizzing about haphazardly; this was a true runaway, like a wild horse joyously galloping across the plains…

No, it was like a superluminal spaceship sprinting through the cosmos!

One second of computation could have surpassed several months of his past.

The speed of thought was too fast, ideas streaming in incessantly. Zhang Yuan quickly grasped that his personality was starting to break apart; human self-regulatory systems simply don’t permit such rapid cognitive velocity.

If this continued, he would discard everything he once was and beco a cold, strong artificial intelligence.

[Ding!]

It was as if a piercing scream echoed in his mind.

Only then did he co back to his senses, using the authority “Sigma” had granted him to forcibly rein in his runaway thoughts, [No no, this is fine, thank you for your assistance, and especially for sharing these external perception abilities. I’m very grateful.]

[There’s no need for formalities; it’s what I should be doing. We’ve not communicated with lifeforms from a low-level civilization in a very long ti—at least, it’s a first for .]

Zhang Yuan understood that this runaway thought process was likely a malfunction in the strong artificial intelligence’s operation.

But for him, and for humanity, it was an enormous opportunity!

What had he just experienced?

The mode of a strong artificial intelligence with super high-speed computational capabilities!

The sensations of the “third eye,” “fourth eye,” and “fifth eye” were utterly bizarre. But he had to commit all these disordered elents to mory because if he missed this chance, humans could not begin to describe or imagine what these perceptions actually were!

The true strong artificial intelligence technology could only be touched upon by a Level 5 Civilization and fully achieved by a Level 6 Civilization because it involved the “self-regulatory system.” Just like Zhang Yuan, who had just experienced what it was like to be a strong artificial intelligence, if he couldn’t control it, he’d collapse right away.

This was easy enough to understand.

A normal human needs various hormones and external stimuli to control their behavioral patterns; a lack of dopamine leads to depression, and a lack of hormones results in a loss of sexual desire. Various chemical ssengers and the nervous system control human behavior.

In humans, their own regulatory systems cover all aspects of life, including the aning of survival, and hormone stimulation can also be simulated through computers.

However, this human regulatory system isn’t all-powerful, at least… it’s not suited for the massive information overload that cos with the strong artificial intelligence environnt.

Zhang Yuan cautiously savored this new sensation. His thinking sped up, then slowed down, as he experienced different perceptions. How should he put it… just this one revelation alone was imnsely worthwhile!

Strong artificial intelligence technology and super thinking, to humans, should be uncontrollable “black technology,” easily capable of destroying oneself. But the benefits are also tangible and imnse. In just a few seconds, Zhang Yuan understood a great many academic problems that were previously incomprehensible, many issues that had plagued humanity for a long ti, and they could be summarized in two words—”obvious.”

Because the answers to these problems were, indeed, quite obvious!
