Chapter 345: Chapter 344 Bullying the Badit People
Wang Junpeng wore a sullen expression. “By the way, Captain, I have one more thing to say. The lives of the Badit people move at such a slow pace. They love to indulge in pleasures like drinking, singing, dancing, and engaging in cultural rituals… The vast majority of their ti is wasted on such trivial matters.”
“Living in prison, their work efficiency is extrely poor all day long. This habit, ford over a long period, can’t be overco by sheer willpower. They need a better living environnt, otherwise they’re ntally scattered all day, as if they are suffering from depression… It’s not an act, it’s really happening.”
“Give them a smile, and they puff themselves up!” Zhang Yuan scoffed with a chuckle. “Anyway, the five-year term won’t change. If they aren’t afraid of dying themselves, worst case we give them a bullet… But that’s not right, since they’re already in the Virtual World, death has no aning. They’ll be used for experints, and that will be worse than death.”
Almost all of the Badit people had their consciousness uploaded into the Virtual World, busy writing papers, making any risk of a jailbreak impossible.
After bidding farewell from his office, Zhang Yuan contemplated a while longer. “The knowledge brought by the Badit people is really not bad, especially their understanding of the universe, which can help avoid so risks in upcoming interstellar travels… We still need to study it carefully.”
“If only we could get more… especially in terms of technology.” He smiled silently, feeling that he was indeed too greedy.
As he pondered, as if good things co in pairs, a report popped up on his computer screen.
“What, a portion of the mory decrypted?! Are you kidding ? Weren’t we told that decoding these mories was extrely difficult? How could it be done in just a few days?”
Upon learning this news, Zhang Yuan leapt up from his chair in surprise and quickly dialed another phone number.
Following that, a holographic image screen popped up on the display, and sitting in front of him was Professor Yamamoto from the Unreal Laboratory.
The man looked utterly haggard. Ever since he had taken on this task, he had been burning the midnight oil in research almost every day.
The mory storage thod of life is extrely complicated, stored in a distributed fashion in the neural network, and different life forms store mories very differently. Even human mory storage thods are still under continuous study, let alone that of aliens with completely different brain structures.
Yamamoto explained, “So, at most, we can only decode so superficial mories…”
“What does that an? You an to decode their mories based on their external behaviors, like their actions?” Faced with Zhang Yuan’s skepticism, Yamamoto tiredly took a sip of water, looking like he could fall asleep at any mont.
Or perhaps he was just too overworked to even manage an excited expression.
The screen was showing the latest activities of these Badit people.
These guys had been thrown into a two-dinsional prison and the weirdest part was they didn’t know they had entered a Virtual World, living out normal daily routines.
The environnt of this Virtual World was identical to that of the real-life Kunlun Mountain.
In the mories of the Badit people, they had just passed out for a while and then were thrown back into their prison; they had no idea that they were in a virtual world.
“…Damn it, what do those humans want to do? It’s been so many days… What else is there to write papers about? Is there so sort of surveillance here? I need to look for it. Even surveillance as small as the eye of a needle should leave traces.” Prince Bart was muttering in frustration.
“How are we supposed to get a way out?”
He yelled at a subordinate, “That’s right, AmiBa Points, I’m willing to pay 12 AmiBa Points! 12 AmiBa Points are all I have, it should be enough to pardon us from the death penalty!”
“Your Highness, our Mother Ship has been destroyed, and the AmiBa Points have turned to ashes… at most, only the Black Box could have survived. Without the password for the Black Box, they can only read part of the information.”
“Right, the password, the password is also a big bargaining chip. But what if those damn humans don’t acknowledge the deal after I give them the password? They might even claim they didn’t retrieve the Black Box…”
All the Badit people remained silent.
Prince Bart was silent for a long while, keenly aware that the loyalty of his subordinates was mostly secured by mutual interest. How could there be absolute loyalty in the world? But as long as he managed this, pardoning the entire clan from the death penalty, he should be able to retain his position.
Even as a captive, being the leader among prisoners isn’t so bad.
The group huddled together, whispering about the details of negotiation. On one hand, they definitely couldn’t give the humans all the advantages, ensuring their own high value; on the other hand, they had to resolve the imdiate risk to their lives. Tough indeed.
So scientists were contemplating suicide, no longer wanting to write papers, and Prince Bart was so distressed it was killing him.
As the conversation continued, more and more data streams appeared on the screen, and a lot of mory passwords were being decrypted through these conversations.
“So that’s how it is, these guys are quite calculating… What have you decrypted?” Zhang Yuan could not help but ask. He wasn’t worried about what the Badit people were planning at all. “Are you kidding ? They’re already locked in a two-dinsional prison; everything is under control. Could they even make a splash?”
Even the other side’s bottom line was known to humanity.
Surveillance? Not possible!
Yamamoto said a bit wearily, “These aliens have a multitude of mory formats, so textual, so pictorial, and the sample size we have is simply insufficient…”
“But from the mass of data, we have extracted so potential passwords! Do you know what this Prince Bart thinks about the most?”
“What?”
“I believe it’s a few key words, Mother Star, his own life, dealings with humans, and… those few passwords! It’s because these topics frequently resurface that we managed to capture them.”
“Passwords?” Zhang Yuan finally understood. “So he keeps repeating them in his mind, wanting to use them as a bargaining chip, and then we deciphered them?”
“Exactly, I think these strange codes that often co to mind must be the passwords for the secret files in the Black Box! Of course, it’s just a possibility… I can’t guarantee it a hundred percent.”
Zhang Yuan almost laughed out loud. Indeed, so very important negotiation chips would definitely keep recurring in the Badit people’s minds, an unavoidable physiological phenonon.
Complex language is hard to decipher, but a string of data is so much simpler…
Good news, definitely good news!
This was completely taking advantage—no, taking advantage of the Badit people!
