Isaac Vaughn tried to organize his words, but he found that no matter how he put it, he couldn’t lessen the impact.

In the end, he could only tell Natalie Kendall the truth: "Your grandfather is critically ill, and we must return to Janton imdiately to see him one last ti."

——

Janton.

Sebastian Beckett is in the ICU.

Matthew Beckett, Julian Beckett, and Cynthia Kendall are all at the hospital.

The doctor has issued three critical condition notices.

As the third one was just issued, two middle-aged n in suits approached.

Matthew recognized them as the lawyers who had been with his father for over a decade, and his heart was stirred.

Their arrival most likely concerned the will.

"Mr. Beckett, how is Old Mr. Beckett doing?"

Matthew shook his head, covering his face with a sigh.

The two lawyers exchanged a glance, their expressions equally sorrowful.

"Mr. Beckett, do you know if Miss Kendall is here?"

Matthew was taken aback.

"Nat... Sothing happened, and she can’t co over for now."

As he spoke, he glanced at Cynthia Kendall.

Cynthia’s expression was indifferent.

"This—"

"Mr. Beckett, to be frank, we’re here because of Old Mr. Beckett’s will, and without Miss Kendall present..."

"But Nat really can’t co."

No sooner had Matthew spoken than footsteps echoed at the end of the corridor, accompanied by a low male voice: "She’s here."

"Nat!"

Julian Beckett was the first to stride up, gripping Natalie’s shoulders, checking her from head to toe with delight in his voice: "You’re okay! That’s great!"

Natalie called softly, "Brother."

"Nat!" Matthew also ca forward.

Pulling Natalie before him, "It’s truly wonderful that you’re okay! You don’t know how worried Dad was!"

Worried?

If he was really worried, why didn’t he keep looking for her?

Natalie concealed her emotions and said:

"Dad."

Then, her gaze fell on Cynthia Kendall not far away.

Cynthia t her gaze coldly, showing no intention of approaching.

Of course.

Her mother must be quite disappointed that her wish for Natalie’s death didn’t co true.

Natalie withdrew her gaze and asked, "Grandfather, how is he?"

Matthew held her hand, patting the back of it, "Grandfather is old; this day would co sooner or later. When you weren’t around, he thought of you often. If he knew you were fine, he could rest easy."

Natalie lowered her eyes, heart aching.

No matter how many tis one encounters death, it is a parting that can never be calmly accepted.

At this ti, the lawyer said, "Mr. Beckett, now that everyone is here, we can disclose Old Mr. Beckett’s will."

*

They borrowed a comrcial eting room at the hospital.

Matthew saw Isaac Vaughn had also co and frowned, blocking him: "Second Master Vaughn, this is a personal matter of The Beckett family, it’s inappropriate for you to be present."

He felt that Isaac lacked understanding and had ulterior motives.

Before Isaac could speak, Natalie walked over and took his hand right in front of Matthew.

Matthew’s face turned cold, scolding: "Nat, haven’t you made enough trouble?"

"Go ahead, I’ll wait for you at the door."

Isaac withdrew his hand from Natalie’s.

Natalie looked at him.

Isaac gave her a reassuring smile.

Only then did she nod and step into the eting room.

Matthew gave Isaac a cold look and then closed the eting room door with a "bang."

Ten minutes later.

The sound of things being smashed ca from the eting room.

Outside.

Isaac leaned against the wall, expression cold, eyes fixed on a spot, lost in thought.

Inside.

"Are you certain this is the old man’s will?!" Matthew asked through gritted teeth.

anwhile, Julian and Cynthia’s faces were not looking good.

Cynthia was glaring at Natalie with hatred, longing to strangle her.

She truly was trouble!

As long as she’s around, there will never be a good day!

The lawyer nodded, solemnly saying, "Yes. Old Mr. Beckett’s will is indeed like this."

But Matthew still couldn’t believe it.

He looked at Natalie, his gaze extrely complex.

And Natalie was genuinely stunned.

Unable to believe what she had just heard.

Grandfather would occasionally take her to Mount Corvix and have her sign so docunts.

He said those things were her reward.

Because when she was little, she saved his life once by delivering dicine.

She had said it didn’t need a reward.

But Grandfather had only replied that everything in this world cos with a reward.

She had never imagined that one day, that reward would beco an unbearable burden, crushing her.

"If I give it up..."

Natalie heard her own voice.

Upon hearing this, Matthew, Julian, and Cynthia all looked at her, seemingly unable to believe she would choose to give up.

Matthew’s eyes lit up again.

"Yes, Nat is still young, such a heavy burden on a girl is truly..."

Before he could finish, the lawyer interrupted.

"Miss Kendall, Old Mr. Beckett’s will states that you cannot refuse the inheritance unless..."

Hearing the lawyer’s words, Matthew’s face turned thoroughly dark.

His father had completely excluded him!

He was his father’s own son!

And Julian!

Julian, this true grandson was also completely ignored!

His father had given everything to a Natalie!

A bastard!

Had his father lost his mind?

Wait!

Suddenly, Matthew thought of sothing, a dark look flashing in his eyes.

——

Old Mr. Grant was in poor health himself, but every day he insisted on visiting his son, Jason Grant, spending an hour or more talking to him.

Though doctors and specialists all said the chances of his son waking were slim, Old Mr. Grant refused to believe it.

He prayed daily, pleading for a miracle to bring his son back.

The nurse wheeled Old Mr. Grant back from Jason’s room, eting Matthew coming their way.

In the hospital room, Old Mr. Grant asked the nurse to leave.

"No one visits the pavilion for no reason. Besides, The Grant family has no value to offer now."

He then looked at Matthew, expression sardonic.

Matthew stepped forward, saying, "I ca today to discuss sothing significant with you."

Old Mr. Grant did not speak, quietly waiting for Matthew to continue.

"About Nat and Jason’s marriage..."

Before he could finish, Old Mr. Grant interrupted with a cold laugh, anger mixed within.

"At this point, is there even a marriage? Are you joking with this old man?"

Matthew was serious: "I’m not joking at all. What I want to discuss with you is indeed a big matter."

Old Mr. Grant’s expression turned shocked.

"Let Nat and Jason continue the engagent, and the cooperation between The Grant and Beckett families remains. What do you think?"

——

On the night the fourth critical condition notice was issued.

Matthew called Natalie over.

"Nat, there’s sothing Dad wants to discuss with you."

"Your engagent with Jason, continue with it."

Natalie heard this and looked at Matthew in astonishnt.

Did he know what he was talking about?

"I’ve already talked to Old Mr. Grant. You and Second Master Vaughn, let’s pretend it never happened. You and Jason will marry imdiately."
