In front, Lucas Lowell hadn’t realized it yet, and kept babbling: "It was—an accident. But you know how Assistant Woods is, insisted on aborting. Damn it! That’s my seed! I never said I wouldn’t take responsibility... Natalie Kendall, where are you looking?"
Finally, Lucas Lowell noticed that Natalie Kendall’s attention was drifting.
He turned around and looked behind himself, raising an eyebrow.
"Isaac Vaughn?"
Isaac Vaughn slowly walked over.
Lucas Lowell saw he didn’t look well and was still wearing hospital scrubs.
"What’s going on?" he asked Natalie Kendall.
Natalie Kendall replied lightly: "You go up first."
As she finished speaking, Isaac Vaughn had already co up to them, his eyes scanning Natalie Kendall from top to bottom, full of concern: "Are you alright physically?"
"What do you an?" Lucas Lowell was completely puzzled and asked Natalie Kendall again: "What’s wrong with you?"
Natalie Kendall said it was nothing and told him to go upstairs and wait.
Lucas Lowell sensed sothing unusual between her and Isaac Vaughn and confird again with Natalie Kendall: "You really don’t need here?"
"No."
Lucas Lowell took the elevator upstairs.
Natalie Kendall and Isaac Vaughn stood face to face in the hallway.
Their marriage was over.
She had also received his resignation letter.
From now on, if not never eting again, they should go their separate ways.
Natalie Kendall didn’t understand why Isaac Vaughn would be here.
"You have sothing?" she asked.
Isaac Vaughn spoke huskily: "I’m worried about you. I heard you were sick over the phone, and I was worried about you."
Natalie Kendall looked at him quietly, her gaze calm and unwavering, without a hint of being touched.
Isaac Vaughn let out a self-deprecating laugh, knowing it was pointless, but he wasn’t saying it to be effective, so he still said: "I called you because I missed you, knowing you wouldn’t co to see voluntarily, so I just wanted to hear your voice anyway."
"I didn’t an to disturb you."
Natalie Kendall said: "But you already have."
She spoke emotionlessly, without a trace of rcy.
Isaac Vaughn could only murmur a low "Sorry."
Suddenly, Natalie Kendall didn’t want to stay any longer, she turned and pressed the elevator button, "Don’t do anything you feel sorry for again."
With a "ding," the elevator door opened.
She stepped inside, pressed the door-close button. Soon the elevator door closed.
*
In the living room.
Lucas Lowell was talking to Jordan Rivers, and upon hearing the door open, Jordan Rivers imdiately left Lucas Lowell and ran towards the entrance.
"Sis, you’re back!"
"Mm." Natalie Kendall opened the shoe cabinet and changed shoes.
She looked up to see Lucas Lowell, arms crossed, looking at her gossipingly.
"What’s up with you and Isaac Vaughn? Fighting?"
"Divorced."
"Wha, what?!" Lucas Lowell’s arms dropped, his eyes almost popped out, "Divorced? Really?"
Natalie Kendall walked to the island and poured a glass of water: "Do you need to see the divorce papers?"
Lucas Lowell looked conflicted.
After two or three minutes, after fully absorbing the bombshell, he said gravely to Natalie Kendall: "Sorry Natalie, forget the thing about taking your place after you divorced, as if I never said it."
After a pause, he added, very apologetically: "Just think I’ve let you down."
Natalie Kendall found it funny, "Mm, is it for Assistant Woods?"
Lucas Lowell nodded.
Natalie Kendall reached out and patted his arm: "Treat Assistant Woods well, really. She’s a good girl, if you don’t cherish her, you’ll regret it."
As she finished, she turned around to see Jordan Rivers with red eyes standing in front of her.
"Sis, you and brother-in-law divorced? So I won’t have a brother-in-law anymore? But, but..." But he really liked brother-in-law.
Lucas Lowell thought this kid was really funny, bent over to wipe Jordan Rivers’ tears, teasing him: "You like Second Master Vaughn so much? What’s so good about him?"
And then said: "He’s downstairs right now."
As Lucas Lowell finished speaking, Jordan Rivers turned around and dashed towards the door.
