Rean looked at Lukay, and even though he was a Spirit, he could still tell that the other party wasn’t exactly happy about the situation. The expression on Lukay’s face, or rather the way his energy fluctuated, made it obvious that he was regretting something.
"Senior Lukay, is everything okay?"
Lukay looked pletely deflated. "Whatever... I’ll have that idiot pay me back some other time."
Only then did he finally focus properly on the twins’ group. "Alright, Clasou sent me here. It seems like you need a babysitter."
Rean immediately raised a finger. "Actually, we don’t. It’s just that the Godly Subjugation Guild doesn’t want to leave us to do an exploration mission on our own. Clasou insisted that he would only let us go into the uncharted areas if we brought a Zone God of his choice... which is you, I believe."
Lukay felt even more helpless after hearing that. If even the people he was supposed to protect didn’t think they needed protection, then why exactly had he been dragged here?
"That piece of shit..." Lukay muttered. "They must really be afraid of losing your Arrays and Pills expertise from the looks of it. Yes, I obviously had Clasou tell me about you. Are the things you’re doing really that important?"
Roan finally joined the conversation at that point. He had been silently observing Lukay until then, trying to understand what kind of Spirit he was. "Did he tell you the most important quality if you are to e with us?"
"Something about not speaking of what I see or whatever?" Lukay answered casually. "Don’t worry. Clasou seems very interested in your bunch, which is already a very good reason for me to never tell that guy a single word. Hmph!"
Roan nodded slightly. Then, he exchanged a glance with Rean, Celis, and Kentucky. They immediately understood what he meant and nodded back.
It was time to test his theory.
"You are correct," Roan said. "What we will be using this time around must never be shared with the Besgol Region. And trust me, you will want to share it with everyone. You will feel pelled to."
That statement immediately caught Lukay’s attention. "Aren’t you being a little presumptuous there? The entire Besgol Region? You’re getting ahead of yourself."
Roan calmly placed his hands behind his back as he walked around the room. "Let’s just say... what if we could neglect the weakening effect of the Godly Pressure out in the Godly Creatures’ Territories? I’m not saying we can do it. Consider it nothing more than an assumption, an example."
While speaking, Roan glanced at Rean.
Among the four of them, Rean was the only one who could sense the existence of the pink-winged spirit inside their bodies. If it showed any signs of awakening, then it meant the spirit had recognized that what Roan was saying could lead to the spread of forbidden information.
That would mean their attempt had failed, and they would stop this conversation there.
Lukay would be lying if he said he wasn’t surprised. "Block the Godly Pressure Weakening Effect?" he repeated. "Oh, I see. You said it was just an example of how important you think your secrets are. It’s not like you can actually do something like that."
Lukay shook his head before continuing. "Alright, let’s say you really could do such a thing. Why would you want me to stay quiet? Something like that would be incredibly important to the entire Besgol Region, and all the other Regions we can municate with as well."
"I’m not giving you any reasons," Roan answered bluntly. "You are simply not allowed to speak about it. What you see will never be shared with the Besgol Region, period. It doesn’t matter how useful it would be."
Lukay remained silent for a moment. He was obviously skeptical about the twins’ claims, but for the sake of the discussion, he decided to pretend they were telling the truth.
"Very well. Let’s say you really will show me something that heaven-defying." His tone became more serious. "I’ll be straightforward with you. I’m being paid to stay silent, so regardless of whether it is Clasou, Tobao, Arcis, or even that new Law God from my race, Aurundi, I won’t say a single word."
Roan immediately looked toward Rean.
Rean smiled faintly. ’No reaction from the spirit. Try to force it a little more. If nothing happens, then we are probably safe.’
Roan nodded slightly before turning his attention back to Lukay. "Are you certain? You are a Middle Stage Zone God. You have lived in Besgol long enough to know that unity and mutual help are the only reasons this Region has survived for so long. Whenever someone discovers something new that can help everyone, they usually share it. They can obviously profit from it, but they also ensure the Region remains stronger."
He looked directly at Lukay. "I’m not joking when I say this is something you will have to keep secret, regardless of how helpful it might be now or in the future."
Lukay didn’t seem pleased with where the conversation was going. "What is all this bullshit? Let me make one thing clear. Even if the Besgol Region were to go to hell, I wouldn’t say a thing. And I’ll tell you why."
He pointed at himself. "Because that is directly related to my own business."
"I’m the kind of guy Clasou and others with similar status e to when they need things done ’unofficially’ for them," Lukay continued. "If I told you even a little of what I know, you probably wouldn’t see the light of day tomorrow."
He also explained something else. "Yes, killing inside the Besgol Region is prohibited. Doing so would immediately be discovered because of the Sacred Relic. However, there are other channels to get things done if you understand what I mean."
"Now, whether you believe me or not is up to you. I didn’t want to take this job in the first place. I still don’t want to take it now. Nothing would make me happier than if you refused me so I could go back home."
He looked at the twins’ group with a strangely hopeful expression. "So, please. Please dismiss me. You’d be doing me a great favor."
Roan was very good at detecting lies, and he had to admit he couldn’t sense any deception from Lukay. Above all, Rean confirmed once again that there were still no reactions from the pink spirits inside their bodies.
That was enough for Roan. This burden of being forced to bring someone with them might actually turn into a great advantage instead. "Very well. We will trust that you will keep your mouth..."
He stopped for a moment and looked at Lukay.
"Actually, you don’t have a mouth."
Roan shook his head slightly.
"Regardless, you will not say anything."
"Tch..." Strangely enough, Lukay looked much more disappointed that they trusted him than if they had doubted his words. He really, really just wanted to go home. "Whatever. So, how about you tell me why the hell you want to go for an Elite Exploration Mission into the uncharted areas?"
Rean answered with a bright smile. "Taxes!"
Lukay froze.
If he had blood, he was certain he would have vomited it right there. "Are you fucking with me?"
He stared at Rean in disbelief. "Do you have any idea how much Clasou is paying me to be your babysitter? If profit is your aim, then you would be much better off asking him directly for the value of this protection and staying here instead of going out on an Elite Exploration Mission just to avoid taxes."
Roan merely snorted. "Is he paying you with Godly Predator Crystals?"
That question made Lukay pause. "The pay is good," he admitted, "but you aren’t worth that much, alright? First of all, what kind of parison is that? As if you could earn something like that. What exactly are you planning to do?"
"Hunt Godly Predators," Roan answered immediately.
Lukay stared at him. Then, his frustration returned. "Like hell you are! Do you seriously expect me to believe this? Even I would only be asking to die if I tried to kill Godly Predators outside the Sacred Relic’s influence."
"That’s because the Godly Pressure of the environment, and especially the Godly Pressure of the Predator itself, would hugely weaken you," Rean explained. "That will not be a problem this time."
Lukay froze. "Wait, wait, wait... That nonsense you were talking about earlier, about being able to neglect the weakening effect of Godly Pressure... that was true?"
"I thought that was just an example of how important you thought your secrets were."
Rean felt even more confident. The pink spirits continued to remain asleep inside their bodies.
"We can do it," Rean admitted. "We have one sure-fire method of achieving that."
"Two." Roan corrected him immediately.
That answer made everyone else turn toward him.
Rean, Celis, and Kentucky all looked surprised. "Two? What are you talking about?"
Roan didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he began walking toward the exit. "It won’t work in here." Then he opened the door. "Let’s go."
Everyone followed after him, curiosity now pletely taking over. Clasou had already assigned their mission, meaning they could leave the Besgol Region and officially begin their exploration.
"There is no point in demonstrating it inside the Sacred Relic’s influence anyway," Roan explained. "There is no Godly Pressure here, so the effect wouldn’t be visible."
Lukay followed behind them, still trying to process everything he had heard.
The four Middle Stage Aura Gods in front of him were apparently planning to leave the safety of the Besgol Region, ignore the Godly Pressure weakening effect, and hunt Godly Predators outside the Sacred Relic’s influence, deep into the uncharted areas.
It sounded absurd.
’It can’t really be true... right?’
