Chapter 246: 246. Madness, Money and Family

His words nauseated Song Qinghuan so much that she almost retched up her dinner from the previous night.

But she didn’t show it. Without uttering a word, she continued to chanically spoon rice into her mouth, completely devoid of any appetite.

Lu iyan spoke up again: “Qinghuan, the economy isn’t doing so well right now. Business at our small shop has been declining. This month we’re not even making over ten thousand. That’s just barely enough to cover the cost of our family’s living expenses and property managent fees!”

Song Qinghuan still kept quiet: “…”

Lu iyan continued: “Everything costs money these days. Xiaotao’s school is always charging fees for this and that. Your father and I were thinking of moving him to a better school, but getting the necessary permissions is very difficult.”

Song Qiliang quickly chid in, “Yes, to get into good schools, we would first need to buy a school district house. With our current financial state, there’s no way we can afford that.”

Lu iyan picked up where the conversation was left: “Qinghuan, could you possibly lend us so money to help your younger brother out?”

Song Qinghuan looked her in the eye and flatly refused, “I don’t have the money!”

Lu iyan’s face darkened radically: “If we had any money, do you think we’d resort to asking you? Xiaotao is your younger brother too. As the elder sister, naturally, you should be helping your brother!”

Song Qinghuan placed her chopsticks down: “This is not about buying clothes or toys. We’re talking about buying a school district house. I just graduated and started working. How could I possibly help you?”

Lu iyan slamd her chopsticks down onto the table: “Huanhuan, are you trying to intentionally spite your mother?”

“How would that be antagonizing you?” Song Qinghuan was at a loss for words: “Why did you automatically assu that I had money to spare? Do you believe I should be the one helping you buy houses?”

Song Qiliang tried to sound logical, “Huanhuan, if you don’t have the money, doesn’t your brother have so? He’s pretty well-off. I’m sure he wouldn’t mind sparing a bit to buy us a house, right?”

She knew it. She knew this was what they were getting at all along.

Song Qinghuan was frustrated beyond belief, suddenly stood up: “My brother is missing! I have no idea where he’d gone or whether he’s dead or alive. Who the hell knows where his money is?”

Song Qiliang chuckled: “He’s your brother after all. He ca back from Arica for you. Surely, he must have left sothing for you?”

Song Qinghuan scoffed: “If I had the money, do you think I’d be working right now?”

Song Qiliang lit a cigarette, blew smoke circles in the air, and then glanced at Lu iyan aningfully.

Lu iyan also suddenly stood up like a shrew: “You think I didn’t know? You are currently working in the sa company your brother used to work for. He must have contacted you and given you money. Not only has he given you money, he also arranged a job for you in his previous company. Huanhuan, it wasn’t easy for

to raise you, and your younger brother still needs support. You should think of

too.”

Song Qinghuan was speechless: “Mum, do you really need to do this?”

Lu iyan planted her hands on her hips, her face red with anger: “It’s not

who is doing this, it’s you. You prioritize money more than your family!”

Song Qinghuan was about to lose her mind, laughing hysterically. The notion that money was not her priority coming from Lu iyan’s mouth was, ironically, the biggest joke in the world.

She picked up her bag, ready to leave: “I don’t have the money, believe it or not!”

Lu iyan glared at her retreating figure, gritting her silver teeth before blurring out: “If you don’t have it, we’ll go find your boss and tell him you are Yan Pingdan’s younger sister!”
