While coloring, no one realized when ti had even slipped out of their hands. The task was not easy for anyone.
Even if they were masters at drawing before, coloring on this special canvas was ten tis more difficult.
Jinn was even more so.
Much to his despair, despite how outstanding his control was, he sucked at coloring as well.
Whenever he reached the outlines of a shape, so intrusive thought would make his hand slip out of the line, and just like that, a grotesque drawing was complete.
"Hch..." Upon hearing a suppressed snicker, Jinn turned to see Evelyn looking away. Her shoulders were shaking as she tried her best to stop herself from laughing.
’Tch, this woman... I wonder how she—’ he was silent the mont he laid eyes on her creation. The perfect symphony of colors.
Not a single stroke outline.
’Life is unfair.’ Grumbling in his heart, the deflated devil accepted the humiliation.
Soon, the class ca to an end.
The lecture of an hour was finally over.
"The first three pages of the booklet I gave you should be readable. There are different thods to enhance your control over dragon Energy step by step."
Much to everyone’s surprise, professor Olivia, who usually wasted not a single second to run out of the class, was dragging the lecture for so reason.
"Those who have ancient language class will stay; the rest of you can go."
After ten minutes of useless talk, she finally stopped when the door of the classroom finally opened.
"Apologies, I lost track of ti while working on one of the projects."
A slightly hunched man with a haggard appearance, ssy hair, and an unshaved beard walked into the room with an apologetic smile on his face.
He was wearing long robes that almost touched the ground. In his hand was a stack of thick books and sheets that looked like they would fall out at any mont.
Was he really a professor?
Everyone had the sa thoughts. They could not help.
but wondered if the man had even showered in days.
But it seed like he was the professor who would be teaching them about the ancient languages.
"Ah, Professor Skinner, you are here? Did the class not finish? I can co back later." The man with a shabby appearance looked a bit surprised upon seeing Olivia still standing in the room.
A faint blush appeared on his face as he tried to look her in the eye.
"No, no. I was just waiting for you, Prof. Wyatt."
For the first ti, the cold mask on Olivia’s face faded away, replaced by a pure, maiden-like smile.
Jinn watched with interest as she picked up her stuff and approached the man.
With a wave of her hand, she made it all disappear and said, "I knew you would be late."
She paused before continuing, "but I hope you do not keep waiting in the evening. You should get freshened up after the classes end as well."
Saying that, Olivia walked out of the room, leaving a shy professor with his students.
It took Prof. Wyatt a minute to calm himself and walk up to the podium.
Thud!
He placed the stack of papers and books on the stand and finally gathered confidence to look the students in the eye.
"Only four students..." he whispered to himself, trying to ignore the knowing smirks on the students’ faces.
Besides Jinn and Evelyn, there were two more students, both girls.
"Pleased to et you, students. I am Prof. Ray Wyatt. I will be the one guiding you through Ruin explorations. I am also a professor of technology, so you might see in that class as well.
After a quick look, it seed like Mr. Wyatt had already resigned due to the small number of students.
"Why don’t you all start introducing yourselves and tell why you chose this course?"
He whispered softly but loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Let’s start with you." He pointed at Evelyn, who started to rise from his seat, and interjected, "Ah, please, sit and speak. No need to get uncomfortable."
Evelyn paused before stiffly sitting down.
"Evelyn Little. I like to dig up old corpses and the stories they tell. So this class might just be my favorite one."
Her introduction was short and concise, but the professor seed to be impressed by her words.
"That is indeed one way to look at Ruin exploration. The corpses and the artifacts we explore tell us their own stories."
Then he looked at Jinn as if asking him to continue.
"Jinn Alcott. I must say Prof. Skinner had so nice things to say about you." Jinn casually shifted the topic away from himself while making the professor look shy.
The three girls looked at Jinn in surprise. They did not expect him to butter up to the teacher.
But at the sa ti, they also morized his na. ’So his na is Jinn. I must tell the others.’
"She told us you were one of the best in creating artifacts and technology." Jinn, unaware of the thoughts of the girls in the room, continued speaking with a mild tone of admiration.
"The maze test she gave us was really sothing special."
"Ah, you flatter ." Prof. Wyatt waved his hands with an embarrassed smile on his face. "Prof. Skinner is one of the few who appreciates technology."
’Nah, she just appreciates you.’ Everyone, except for Evelyn, had the sa thought at that mont.
"I was wondering if there is so small version that the students can get to practice after classes?"
’So this was his true motive.’ Evelyn finally understood what Jinn had been after with his flattering words. ’But I don’t think a professor would fall for a cheap trick like that.’
"Indeed, students should have sothing like this, and I have been working on sothing like this for a while now."
’He fell for it?!!!’
The man glanced at the huge stack on the table and said, "but sadly, it is still not complete yet, so there is nothing I can do."
"What a pity." Jinn spoke with a sigh before turning silent.
Professor glanced at the next student, completely forgetting that Jinn had told him nothing else besides his na.
"I am Katerina Noble." The introductions went on, and after that, the class finally started.
