Raven continued firing her Barrett MRAD MK22 from the retractable rooftop of the Ironhowl X4. Every headshot an explosive kill. tal Mouse charged into the hoard beyond the SUV, an unstoppable monstrosity of steel. His tail impaled a group of zombies with a single thrust, while both his shoulder-mounted machine guns laid cut down zombies like a chainsaw cut down trees strait down the middle. The battlefield turned into a slaughterhouse of shredded limbs and explosive torsos.

Inside the Ironhowl, Alara tugged at Raven’s shirt. Raven turned to look down at her and, through their shared ntal link, felt her curiosity and urge to help sohow. She wants to help. Raven blinked, then smiled with pride, sliding back down into her seat and storing the sniper rifle back into the system space.

“Alara,” Raven said softly, looking over at girlfriend, “Do you want to help take down the horde too?”

Alara gave a small nod, unsure of the question but certain about wanting to help. Raven reached forward and pressed a dashboard button in front of her. The rooftop closed seamlessly above them, and the rear of the vehicle groaned as a heavy tal gernade launcher rose into position behind the back seats as they split down the middle and the grenade launcher rose out of the Ironhowl's floorboards. Between the front seats, a circular hole opened with a silent hiss.

“See this hole?” Raven gestured to the hole between them. “Do what I do.”

With a ntal command, she summoned a box of grenades from the system space, setting it down in front of them. She pulled one out, and said, “Pull the pin and drop it into the hole. The launcher does the rest. So have fun.”

Raven demonstrated, dropping the grenade into the chute. A mont later, a distant explosion shook the street, as several dismbered zombie chests flew into the air like broken dolls. A shower of legs and bones rained down around the vehicle.

Alara's eyes lit up with sothing joy. tal Mouse, ever the showman, leaped up into the air, his jaws wide open. When he caught a spinning zombie torso in mid-air and bit down with a crunch, turning it into an explosion of blood and guts between his jaws.

Alara reached into the box and copied Raven's actions, pulling the pin out, and dropping the grenade into the hole. Another explosion ca from the road, As Alara's laughter filled the vehicle.

tal Mouse sprinted into view again, blasting a barrage of mini-missiles from his back that flew into the oncoming horde. The resulting cascade of explosions lit up the ruined street and successfully pulled aggro from the Ironhowl X4 back to tal Mouse.

Raven leaned forward slightly, watching through the windshield.

“Huh,” she said confused. “Is tal Mouse... zombie surfing?”

There he was, gliding over the tidal wave of zombies, riding the shockwaves, landing foot-first on a cluster of zombies, and smashing another ruined corpse into the asphalt with his front paw.

Raven exhaled lips tight. “I might have made that AI a little too much of a show off. He is going to destroy my whole stoic-loner image.”

Alara, oblivious to the comntary, dropped another grenade with her hand like it was a treasured offering. A third explosion echoed across the battlefield. This ti, tal Mouse caught the edge of the blast and used it to launch himself even higher, flipping midair and catching another zombie torso in his tal jaws.

Raven opened her mouth to speak and paused when suddenly.

tal Mouse, mid-run, intercepted a flying grenade and, without hesitation, swallowed it.

Boom.

His entire body trembled, smoke rising from the his mouth. For a mont, he stumbled. Then, as if nothing happened, he straightened up and resud his rampage, tearing apart the next zombie he found.

Raven placed a hand over her face in sha.

“Never mind. tal Mouse is just stupid.” She sighed. “At least I know he’s durable. Worst-case scenario, I will just put him back together. Again.”

Raven loooked at Alara, who was now giggling uncontrollably while dropping yet another grenade into the hole.

Despite tal Mouse fooling around, Raven felt the pride of watching her creations do what they are made for killing.
