The icy water flowed around Raven and Alara, steam floating upwards as Raven held Alara in her arms, witb their bodies pressed together in the center of the pool. The heat radiating from Alara is enough to lt the surrounding ice, each breath between them turned into vapor in the sumr air of Sanctuary.
The shared pain of their simultaneous breakthroughs dulled with their contact in each other's arm's. For Raven, this is her level two awakening, the growth of everything her body and powers will now be able to do. For Alara, it is an evolution, the transformation of her undead body into a stronger, faster, and more resilient body than ever before.
Alara’s body seed to radiate fire, the glow under her pale skin shimring like embers in the water. Steam exploded around them, as the edges of the pool beca obscured by steam. Beneath her bodies physical strain, Alara could feel the shift in her zombie nucleus core, as her energy beca richer, denser, and far more abundant than before. Alara could almost sense her future evolutionary path ahead of her. Each evolution promised more refined control of her mind and body with even greater levels of power than ever before.
Raven’s own transformation moved in perfect parallel to Alara’s. Her own dual nucleus core pulsed with steadily increasing power, each pulse of her core forced impurities out of it refining her energy to a stronger level. Raven could feel the change in her plant manipulation powers with her connection to living things growing stronger, while her technomancer abilities, grew stronger and more outrageous than ever before.
The steam thickened into a white cloud above them. Raven leaned in to Alara, pressing her lips to Alara’s in a slow kiss, the heat between them mingled with the icy water of the pool. Their kiss is not just for comfort it was grounding them as endured this together. Alara returned Raven’s kiss, as her fingers tightened around Raven’s back. No matter how much pain surged through their bodies holding each other, they felt invincible.
mories surged through Alara’s mind fragnts of the day she and Raven t. The stale air of the mall, the hunger that gnawed at her, as those two n tried to assault her. Then Raven appeared, killing those torntors for her as she feasted for the first ti on them. Her mory started from that mont, but the absence of any mories before this event worried Alara. She has no mories of a childhood, or family, or the monts of how she beca infected. It's as if her life began in that mall. Was she placed there on purpose? Was her mory erased intentionally? And if so, by who, and why?
Alara pressed her forehead to Raven’s shoulder, letting the questions echo quietly in the back of her mind. Answers could wait, but Alara knew one thing with certainty she would find the truth, and she would do it at Raven’s side.
Hours passed. The pool once filled water is now gone. The heat pouring from them boiled it away entirely. Raven’s breathing steadied first, as her eyes opened to take in the sight of Alara, the faint, golden glow still fading from under her skin. Alara t her gaze with a faint but tired smile, as they both knew they succeeded in another step of their journey together.
