For the first ti in her life, Raven made spaghetti and atballs for Alara, using fresh ground beef from the system-raised cows in Sanctuary. Raven set the plate of spaghetti down in front of Alara, then moved to her own seat across the table from her. A single red wax candle burned faintly between them, casting a warm glow over the white tablecloth covered table. Above them, the night sky of Sanctuary was filled with beautiful stars.
Alara looked around at the scene in front of her the wine, the candle, the supper table being setting set up all fancy and then she at Raven saying. “Raven, are you trying to have a romantic candlelight dinner with under the stars? If you want a date, all you had to do was ask. You didn’t have to hide behind the excuse of making a homade al, especially one this elaborate.”
A deep red color crept onto Raven’s face. She picked up her fork, twirling spaghetti on the end of it, and bit into a atball, saying through a mouthful of food, “Shut up and just eat your al already, Alara. If I want to have a romantic date with you, that’s my prerogative.”
Alara smiled, taking her first bite of spaghetti. The taste hit her instantly a rich tomato sauce made from system-grown tomatoes, tender beef, and perfectly seasoned pasta. It was divine. In her mind, Alara thought it is almost as good as raw beef, but she wisely chose to keep this thought to herself.
Between bites, Alara glanced at Raven saying. “It’s already April in the outside world Raven. The apocalypse has been going on for four months already. Do you have any thoughts about the state New York is in now? What do you want to do long term here?”
Raven set down her fork and leaned back slightly. “I want to humiliate those who took advantage of my kindness in my last life. To help those who helped . And to kill those who offended . But that’s just a side hobby. My true goal is to live happily with you, Alara. This alone brings my previously lonely life aning. As for long-term goals? Let the world explode into a million pieces for all I care as long as I have you with , everything else is aningless.”
Alara’s lips curved faintly into a smile as she finished another atball. “I think the sa Raven. Let the world be destroyed no matter what happens, I only need you by my side. All other people are only pawns who serve to further our goals and happiness together.”
Raven’s expression softened, pleased as she said. “That’s a great attitude to have Alara. Always rember everyone but is expendable in your life, and I’m the only one who is always right, no matter what other people say to you.”
Alara nodded her head slowly, smiling. “You’re right, Raven. I can only ever believe you and rely on you in this life. Everyone else can’t be trusted.”
Alara held her nieave expression, but behind it, she was fully aware of Raven’s tendency to reinforce her own authority. Alara has long since recognized Raven's brainwashing tactics, but she likes to play her naive role. It makes Raven feel more secure, and in truth, Alara finds it attractive.
