Eryx was still worried about everything going on when the door opened abruptly.

"Eryx, you have a visitor," a teacher announced, barely hiding their curiosity.

Laila walked in, radiant as ever with energy sparkling off her. She waved playfully at the class.

"Hi! class!" she called out then turned. "What’s up, brother?"

Whispers imdiately rippled through the classroom.

Whoa... is that Eryx’s sister? She’s... wow. Hot. They look alike... Finally seen who Eryx took over.

Eryx rolled his eyes so hard it was audible, rose to his feet, and strode over to her, his hand reaching for hers. "What are you doing?" he asked sharply.

Laila leaned in, voice playful and low.

"I ca to check if I’d see my prince charming again."

Eryx’s jaw clenched. Without hesitation, he grabbed her hand to drag her out before anyone else could comnt. But then, a voice ca from the back, like he was joking but couldn’t help the tease.

"Uh... Laila, is that your outfit? Cute and all... but are you sure this is school-appropriate? Kinda... eye-catching."

Laila blinked, caught off guard. She forced a smile, cheeks warming. She is literally only wearing a mid-thigh jumpsuit and nothing demanding attention.

Eryx’s grip on her hand tightened as he turned, his eyes narrowing. "You’ve got a lot of nerve,"

The guy tried to shrug it off like it was nothing, smirking as if daring him.

Eryx didn’t even blink. He let go of Laila’s hand and stepped forward, before anyone could react, his hand shot out and grabbed the guy’s collar. The classroom went silent, every student frozen in shock.

Then, with a single controlled motion, Eryx’s fist connected squarely with the guy’s face.

A sharp thud echoed, the smirk wiped clean out of the guy’s face, replaced by stunned pain.

The teacher’s voice echoed. "Stop that Mr Eryx."

Eryx turned towards the man, sharply. "You shut the fuck up."

He turned to the guy and shoved him back on his chair hard.

"Try that again," Eryx said, voice low and deadly. "And it won’t just be a punch."

Laila blinked, both horrified and impressed, as Eryx turned back toward her, grabbed her hand tightly. "Co on," he muttered. "Let’s get out of here."

The guy held his jaw in pain, and the rest of the class dared not breathe.

Once they were in the hallway, Laila’s laughter bubbled up. "You’re so overprotective, you know that?" she teased, trying to lighten the tension.

Eryx’s jaw tightened, his eyes flashing dangerously. "Shut the fuck up," he snapped as he turned to look at her.

The words hit Laila like a slap. She froze, her smile faltering as a small frown tugged at her lips. The teasing energy drained out of her instantly.

"I... I was just joking," she whispered, softly.

Eryx kept on walking, ignoring her. "Not joking. Don’t ever make feel like I have to protect you from idiots again," he said angrily as he tightened his hold on her hand.

Laila’s lip quivered. Tears welled in her eyes and she couldn’t hold them back any longer. Hot, silent tears slid down her cheeks as she tried to pull her hand free. "I... I’m sorry," she whispered between sobs, her voice cracking. "I didn’t an to—"

Eryx stopped and looked back at her and froze for a fraction of a second, seeing the tears streaking down her cheeks. Then he groaned in pure frustration.

Why the fuck are girls like this?

"Co on... stop being a crybaby," he muttered, his voice rough but not unkind.

But Laila’s sobs only grew, he sighed sharply and pulled her closer, one arm wrapping securely around her shoulders. His other hand ca up, careful and brush away her tears.

"Hey... shhh," he murmured, his voice low. "Stop crying. Big brother is sorry."

Laila’s shoulders shook against him. "You... you scared ," she whispered, muffled against his chest, "seeing you snap like that..."

Eryx tightened his hold for a mont, before muttering almost under his breath. "Good. You should know I don’t ss around when it cos to you."

She let out a shaky laugh through her tears, the sobs softening. Even as she cried, there was relief in the knowledge that beneath that anger was soone who would move mountains to protect her.

Eryx held her tighter for a mont, then pulled back slightly to look at her, eyes still a little sharp but softer than before. "Why are you even here in the first place?" he asked.

Laila sniffled, wiping at her tears with the back of her hand. She managed a small, shy smile.

"I... ca to see my prince charming," she whispered.

Eryx rolled his eyes so hard it could have been audible. "He’s not your prince charming, okay?"

Her eyes sparkled, teasing despite the tears still clinging to her cheeks. "He’ll be," she shot back, her voice playful.

Eryx blinked, then mimicked her. "He’ll be." A small smirk tugging at his lips despite the tension. "What are you gonna do? Ask him out?"

She shrugged, a hint of mischief breaking through her tears. "Yeah... is that a bad thing?"

Eryx stared at her for a mont with a tight jaw, fighting the mixture of frustration and protectiveness rising in him.

"You really don’t make anything easy for , do you?"

Laila just smiled. "I like to keep you on your toes, big brother."

Eryx groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose with one finger. "Yeah... yeah, you definitely do that."

Suddenly, Armand ca into view as they walked down the corridor.

The mont Eryx saw him, he cursed under his breath. He leaned closer to Laila and whispered sharply, "You better not do anything stupid."

Laila just smiled innocently and nodded, like she absolutely planned to do sothing stupid.

Armand got closer, and Eryx stepped in his path, stopping him. Armand raised a brow. "Did Athena call you?" Eryx asked.

Armand shook his head. "No. I haven’t seen her today."

Eryx nodded once. "Alright. Thanks."

Armand was about to walk past them when Laila suddenly spoke up. "Wait—um." She cleared her throat dramatically. "That other guy... he’s your brother, right... the one with black hair?"

Armand paused, then nodded. "Alaric?"

Laila’s eyes lit up instantly. "Ohhh, that’s his na."

Armand slowly turned his head toward Eryx.

Eryx’s expression was dark...murderously dark.

Bro looked like he was two seconds away from committing a felony on his own sister.

"Why?" Armand asked cautiously.

Laila laughed, waving a hand. "Nothing! He’s just... cute, that’s all."

Armand nodded slowly, like he was accepting this information for the sake of peace.

"I see."
