Jianna’s smile widened slowly, like her face was stretching beyond what a human expression should allow. "Oh, Oliver..." she whispered, stepping even closer. "I killed my obstacles."

Her voice dropped into a chilling whisper.

"I killed my husband... Mr Ashbourne, I stabbed him in the stomach countless tis."

She giggled, like the happiest woman in the world.

"... and guess what, he kept breathing, kept choking on his own blood... so I stabbed and stabbed until he finally stopped."

Her fingers mimicked the stabbing motions, her grin widening with each imaginary thrust.

"And your father?"Her breath hitched in excitent, her pupils dilating.

Oliver’s twisted expression dropped harder at the ntion of his father.

" I took so much ti planning his death... that man was too powerful, and I couldn’t kill him to easily." She smiled, savouring the mont. "

"I sneaked into his room... and I went straight for the throat." She laughed like a maniac.

Oliver shut his eyes.

"They were in my way... baby, I did it for us... our future." Jianna whispered sweetly.

Oliver opened his eyes and scoffed, a broken sound tearing from his throat as he dragged a trembling hand through his hair. Tears blurred his vision, hot and hopeless. "Jianna..." he whispered, her na broken and confused.

But she moaned. She actually moaned.

Her eyes fluttered closed in bliss. "Say it again," she breathed. "Call my na again, baby."

Oliver’s breath shattered. He squeezed his eyes shut, letting the tears spill down freely. "I was seventeen at that ti..." His voice cracked, raw. "And Athena was just... seven."

His chest heaved. "Just... seven, Jianna."

For a mont... just ones... he hoped she would flinch. Freeze. Realize sothing. But Jianna only tilted her head, her lips curling into a dreamy smile. Like she didn’t give a damn.

"So what?" she whispered.

Oliver’s eyes snapped open.

Jianna stepped closer, stepping lazily over a streak of blood, her bare foot saring it like paint.

Her tone was casual and insane. "Age... society... morality..." She waved a hand dismissively. "All these little human-made rules. They never mattered to ."

She tapped her chest lightly. "My heart chose you. That’s all that matters." She smiled softly, unbothered.

"You’re the reason I breathe, Oliver. The reason I wake up. The reason I kill." She giggled, low and sweet. "Isn’t that romantic?"

Oliver stared at her like she was a nightmare wearing a woman’s skin.

"I killed for you," she continued breezily. "Fixed everything for us. Removed every inconvenience. My husband, your dad... all of them."

She shrugged, casual as if listing groceries.

"And now... all that’s left is you."

Her gaze sharpened, suddenly vicious. "It’s a do or die now, Oliver."

Her voice dropped, deadly calm. "You either love ... or you die with everyone else who got in my way."

Sothing in Oliver snapped. Fear, grief and fury ignited into one.

He stepped back, jaw clenched, voice shaking but firm. "No." Jianna’s smile faltered...only for a heartbeat. "I will never have anything to do with you."

His voice cracked like thunder. "Over my dead body, Jianna."

Jianna blinked slowly... then smiled. A smile that belonged nowhere near humanity. "Then," she whispered, voice sugar-sweet, "I guess we’re finally on the sa page."

Her eyes glead with lethal excitent. "Because dead or alive..." She took another step toward him. "...you’re mine either way."

Oliver’s breath hitched, a cold, violent shiver ripping through his spine, but he refused to retreat.

If this was his last night on earth, then so be it... he wasn’t going to bend to a psychopath.

Jianna finally pulled back, rolling her neck like she was savoring the tension. She began pacing the house with a twisted grace, her fingers trailing across furniture like she owned the entire world.

"My plan..." she said lightly, almost singing, "my actual plan was to kill you. That’s why I ca here in the first place." She paused, turning her head slowly.

"But when I saw you..." Her gaze raked down his bare torso. "All shirtless... and sexy..." She giggled. "I knew it would be a waste."

She spread her arms dramatically. "What’s the point of such a gorgeous man if I just kill him? When I can have fun with him... play with him... ruin him... or have him do everything willingly."

She laughed loudly. It echoed through the room.

Oliver’s jaw clenched, disgust twisting his face.

"You’re disgusting, Jianna. Athena would’ve been better off without a mother."

Jianna blinked once. Then she scoffed, amused. "Oh, that girl was always alone, my dear."

Oliver’s eyes widened. "What?"

Jianna gasped mockingly, pressing a hand to her chest as if shocked. "Don’t tell ... you haven’t figured it out yet?"

She clicked her tongue in disappointnt. "Okay then... let satisfy your curiosity." She leaned forward, smiling like she wanted to eat him alive.

"Oliiiiive darling... I and Athena are kinda similar. She’s alone. I was alone. She had no parents... I had none."

Jianna shrugged, like she didn’t care. "So I took her. Simple."

Oliver felt his entire body go cold... dead cold.

What kind of woman... no, wait... what kind of creature stands there and says that with a smile?

His chest tightened painfully. "Athena didn’t deserve that... She’s this fragile... doll... that...

Jianna sliced through his words sharply. "Stop it. You’re making jealous."

Oliver scoffed, breath shaking.

Athena was right all along. She had been right every single ti. And now he was standing here... trapped with the proof.

Jianna lifted her hands like she was bored.

"Enough of the Athena talk... let’s talk about us, baby."

She moved. Before Oliver could fully process it, she was inches from his face again.

Sothing broke in him. He snapped and shoved her hard on the chest. "Don’t you get it?" he yelled, voice cracking with rage.

"There’s no us, Jianna. Get that into your damn skull... I love Athena, and I’ll ONLY love her."

Jianna’s face twisted with explosive rage. Her hand moved to the back of her trousers, took out a gun and...
