Chapter 24: Joint Statent

This is not a world filled only with light. Where there is light, there must be darkness; the two exist inseparably.

ng Chao’s intentions were clear to Lin Qin. He wanted to tell him not to be fixated on the darkness of the past. People should look forward, look toward the light, rather than confining themselves to the shadows of their history.

As long as we keep chasing the light, darkness will eventually fade away.

Lin Qin understood the reasoning, but so things cannot be resolved just because you understand them. There was still a wall in his heart, tall and unyielding, as solid and unbreakable as ever.

Seeing the difficulty etched on Lin Qin’s face, ng Chao let out a light sigh and ruffled his hair gently. "It’s okay. We’ll take it slow."

Lin Qin murmured an acknowledgent before blurting out a sentence without thinking, "Brother Chao, will you always stay with ?"

The mont the words left his mouth, Lin Qin realized he had crossed a line. He had only known ng Chao for just over half a month, and saying sothing like this was utterly inappropriate.

He quickly tried to explain himself, "I..."

But before he could finish, ng Chao’s voice interrupted, "Okay, I will always stay with you."

ng Chao was famous for his rich, deep voice in the industry. Whenever his synchronized audio played in a film, fans would swoon, claiming to feel their ears "getting pregnant." At this mont, however, he wasn’t just reciting dreamy movie lines. His voice carried deep emotion, a steadfast tenderness, with a trace of indulgence.

It was like a whisper erging from a misty dawn, landing directly in the depths of one’s heart, stirring up a storm.

Lin Qin felt as though he had been electrified. Every inch of his skin tingled, his mind went completely blank. When he looked up, his gaze fell right into ng Chao’s dark, intense eyes, which seed to brim with an emotion that made Lin Qin’s heart race.

For a fleeting mont, Lin Qin mistook it for a confession. He even struggled to keep his composure.

Under the cara lens, their current interaction could only be described as sparks flying, with bubbles of pink romance practically floating in the air.

A few staff mbers, interns who had recently joined the TV station and were also ng Chao’s fans, stood not far away watching the scene. Although they couldn’t hear what ng Chao and Lin Qin were saying, they clutched their chests and fought a near-imnse urge to jump and scream.

Inside, they were positively wild—

[ng, ahhh, what are you waiting for?! Just push Lin Xiaotu’s head down and kiss him already!!!]

[Why do they have such great chemistry as a couple?! If I get to see them together in this lifeti, it’ll all be worth it! Ahhh, hurry up and kiss him!!!]

They were already spinning countless romantic scenarios in their minds, completely forgetting how resistant they initially felt toward Lin Qin when they first heard he’d be recording this show with ng. Now, they secretly found the pairing irresistible.

Whatever the outside world might think, Lin Qin and ng Chao had no way of knowing. In that mont of eye contact, Lin Qin found himself utterly captivated by ng Chao’s gaze, frozen in place.

Only after a long ti did Lin Qin snap out of it, realizing he had been staring blankly at ng Chao. His face flushed visibly red, as if it had been set on fire. If special effects were added, billowing steam would certainly accompany the image.

Lin Qin quickly averted his gaze, standing up as if to escape. "I... I’ll go make breakfast."

As he walked away, he could still hear ng Chao chuckling, a low and velvety sound, like a feather brushing harmlessly but maddeningly across his chest, leaving his heart itching uncontrollably.

Once he reached the kitchen, Lin Qin leaned against the counter and let out a long breath. His still-pounding heart and noticeably overheated cheeks confird that this incident would not pass so easily.

That gentle and weighty "I will always stay with you," coupled with yesterday’s warm embrace, seed to etch themselves into Lin Qin’s soul. Even in the future, if he and ng Chao went their separate ways and rarely saw each other, these monts would remain in Lin Qin’s bones and blood—sothing he would cherish for a lifeti.

...

On the other hand, while Lin Qin and ng Chao enjoyed a relatively lighthearted atmosphere, Jin Feiyun’s situation was notably more somber.

Jin Feiyun appeared calm, casually reapplying her lipstick, but her manager stood fuming. "How many tis did I warn you before the recording? Don’t you know what you should or shouldn’t do?! Now you’ve really outdone yourself—sneaking into ng’s room in the middle of the night! ng has been in this industry for years and not once had a single scandal. Do you think that’s just for show? He’s known for keeping himself squeaky clean! Think carefully about what to do next. If you’ve truly pissed him off, do you think those patrons you’ve climbed into bed with will co to your rescue?"

The manager’s contempt bled through every word.

Jin Feiyun sneered. "Oh, please. Like you’re better than ? If you hadn’t been the one playing matchmaker from the start, would I have landed those old n in the first place? So now you’re the pure lotus above the mud while I’m the filthy swamp? Give a break."

Once, she too harbored passion and ideals for this career, and she had once looked down on those who traded their bodies for opportunities.

But one misstep was all it took, and she found herself sinking deeper and deeper, unable to climb out. If she was going to sleep with n anyway, why not choose soone handso, fit, and capable of bringing her greater fa and fortune?

In her eyes, all n were the sa—thinking with their lower halves, turning spineless at the sight of a woman.

In fact, she thought that if she hadn’t knocked on the wrong door last night, she might have already landed ng. Squeaky clean? Hah, just another persona shaped by his power and PR machine.

Seeing Jin Feiyun’s utter indifference and being mocked by her comnts, the manager trembled with anger, her chest tight and words unable to escape. In the end, she slapped Jin Feiyun hard across the face, spitting the word, "Slut!"

Jin Feiyun didn’t react angrily. Stroking her cheek, she smirked. "Go ahead, hit again. Let’s see who else will earn money for you and the company."

No sooner had she spoken than the office door was flung open. An assistant rushed in hurriedly, handing a phone to the manager.

Looking at the ssage on the phone, the manager’s already dark expression turned even more grim. Letting out a sharp breath, she flung the phone into Jin Feiyun’s lap, seething with rage. "Read it carefully. Let’s see how much value you’ll have left after this."

Jin Feiyun picked up the phone. As her eyes fell on the screen and the content beca clear, her face turned ashen with shock.

It was a joint statent.

The issuing parties of the statent were ng Chao’s Studio and Chutian Entertainnt.

The statent was brief. In summary, it declared that from now on, any events involving Jin Feiyun would not include ng Chao or any artists from Chutian Entertainnt.

Putting aside ng Chao’s standing in the industry, just Chutian Entertainnt alone was enough to make Jin Feiyun panic.

Chutian Entertainnt was a legendary mainstay in the industry. Its roster included nurous A-list actors and actresses, award-winning veterans, and half of the "Four Kings of Traffic"—the most sought-after young male stars.

This statent, in effect, marked Jin Feiyun’s blacklist from Chutian Entertainnt!
