Norton’s hand trembled in shock, almost dropping Morrison to the ground.

Lilian? Lilian!

If he heard correctly, wasn’t she the sister of Dave, the lord of Washington co, who was Morrison’s close friend?

Morrison was actually dating Lilian...

Norton had a vague impression of Lilian. Morrison and Dave were close friends and often t for als, and Norton often accompanied Morrison on those occasions, so he had occasionally heard so things about Lilian from Dave. From what Dave said, she was a very simple and pure young girl. As for their boss...

Norton wasn’t trying to be petty, but he really didn’t think this relationship between Morrison and Lilian would work. And he believed he wasn’t the only one who felt this way.

The only thing they had in common was their family background—and their looks were quite compatible too.

But in terms of temperant, personality, age difference, and their environnts, they were completely from two different worlds.

Morrison was already frustrated by the gap between him and Lilian. Seeing Norton’s shocked reaction made him even more annoyed. He pushed Norton away and got into the car, leaving.

Norton went back to the KTV, sitting quietly in the waiting area, trying to digest the shocking news that his boss was dating Lilian.

Maybe Lilian saw Morrison hugging Monna earlier among those students, which was why Morrison hurriedly left Monna to co explain?

When did Morrison start caring so much about what those won thought?

Based on his usual style, he would have just ignored them, letting them be angry if they wanted, while he did his own thing.

His phone rang again. Norton opened it—it was a ssage from Morrison, sending Lilian’s number so Norton could contact her.

Norton thought to himself: Could this Miss Burg Eltz really be the one to bring down the boss?

anwhile, Lilian was having fun with her classmates until late. Everyone was really enjoying themselves. This would probably be the last ti the whole class gathered like this before graduation. Starting tomorrow, everyone would go their separate ways, and who knew when they’d et again.

When it ended, the group waited outside to hail rides. Lilian suddenly saw the car Morrison had driven to school with her before pull up.

From a distance, Angela sneered,

"Look, that’s her boyfriend’s car. Just a regular car worth twenty-sothing thousand. How could he afford to treat us to all this food and drinks? Hope he doesn’t blow all his money tonight and end up eating instant noodles for a month."

Angela’s close friends laughed along.

Lilian ignored Angela’s sneering remarks. She only worried that Morrison wouldn’t just show up in front of her classmates like that. Angela didn’t know his identity, but so others might. There were a few people from notable Burg Eltz families in her class. If they recognized him, it would be a disaster.

Luckily, when the car door opened, it wasn’t Morrison who got out, but a man she didn’t know. He looked quite impressive in appearance and deanor—he was probably the assistant Morrison had ntioned.

Norton got out of the car and walked toward Lilian. Although Norton had never t Lilian before, with Dave’s looks as a reference, Norton recognized Lilian imdiately among the crowd.

Just as Norton stepped forward, he was imdiately surrounded by Lilian’s enthusiastic classmates.

"You must be Lilian’s boyfriend, right? Wow, so handso!"

"Thanks for treating us to karaoke tonight!"

Norton was utterly confused and quickly tried to explain,

"You’ve got the wrong idea—I’m not—"

He wanted to say he wasn’t her boyfriend, that he was only here on the boss’s orders to pick her up.

But the girls were way too excited to give him a chance to speak. Beads of sweat ford on his forehead. If the boss found out they all thought he was her boyfriend, he’d probably get fired on the spot!

Angela, who had t Morrison before, froze for a mont when she saw that the man who got out of the car wasn’t Morrison, but then shrugged and decided to just watch the scene unfold.

Seeing the chaos, Lilian quickly said goodbye to her classmates and got into the car with Norton. Norton sped off as fast as he could.

At a red light at an intersection, Norton took several deep breaths to calm his pounding heart. Then he glanced at the young girl beside him.

"Just don’t let the boss know they all think I’m your boyfriend. If he finds out, I’m dood."

)

Lilian smiled softly,

"Are you really that scared of him?"

Norton gave a low hum. He wasn’t afraid of much, but this... this was serious.

His gut told him the boss cared about this girl a lot, and if he was mistaken for her boyfriend, the boss definitely wouldn’t tolerate it.

It had been so chaotic earlier that Norton forgot to introduce himself, so now he hurried to say,

"Hi, I’m Morrison’s assistant. My na’s Norton."

"Nice to et you," Lilian replied politely.

"I’m Lilian."

Then the conversation died down. Norton wasn’t the chatty type. If it were Sean, he probably would’ve talked Lilian’s ear off by now.

Lilian felt a bit embarrassed that soone had co all the way to pick her up so late.

"Thank you for coming to get so late," she said shyly.

She hadn’t expected Morrison to send soone to pick her up. She had planned to just call a cab ho.

Norton smiled politely and said,

"You don’t need to thank . This is all my boss’s arrangent. I’m just doing my job, getting paid to handle these things for him."

He quickly shifted all the credit—and bla—to his boss. Norton wasn’t sure why he found himself defending Morrison like this, but sohow he felt the boss was at a bit of a disadvantage around this girl.

Lilian didn’t say much in response. After telling him her address, she smiled and looked down at her phone.

Norton hesitated a mont, then added,

"Our boss actually wanted to send you himself—"

Before he could finish, Lilian suddenly gasped,

"Good thing he didn’t co personally. If my classmates saw him, that would’ve been such a problem!"

She thought back to how enthusiastic her classmates had been just now and felt relieved it was Norton who ca instead.

Norton was speechless.

So the boss got rejected, huh?

He had been trying to say sothing nice about Morrison... but now he just had to grit his teeth and keep going.

"But he drank too much and couldn’t drive, so he sent . He seed kind of down..."

Norton figured Morrison’s moodiness probably had sothing to do with the girl. Work was going smoothly lately—nothing at all to stress Morrison out—so he thought maybe this was a subtle hint for Lilian to check in on the boss, maybe give him a call or sothing.

Lilian looked up from her phone, thought for a mont, then said,

"Yeah, I think he does seem a bit off... but I don’t think it’s because of ."

She was pretty sure she hadn’t done anything to upset Morrison, so she didn’t believe his mood was her fault.

Then she thought to herself that she probably always made him angry and wasn’t good at saying comforting things. So, when he was in a bad mood, it was better for her to just stay silent and not provoke him.

Norton was speechless again.

Are they really a couple? Why was the girl acting so... cold toward the boss?

He’d heard the boss was feeling down, yet she didn’t seem to care at all.

If it had been any of the boss’s previous girlfriends, they would’ve been worried sick by now, itching to rush over and comfort him.

Glancing at the girl still glued to her phone, Norton couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. These young girls and their complicated ways—he just didn’t get them.
