"Outdated, outdated," Dubian Che exaggeratedly shook his head as if he were performing.

"Oh?" Jiutiao’s mother asked curiously, "So, how did you express your feelings to iji?"

"...Nothing special."

Dubian Che hesitated, making Jiutiao’s mother even more curious, "What is it? iji, you tell us."

Jiutiao ijie wore a disinterested expression and said, "During the exam, he suddenly ran to the courtyard and shouted sothing like ’swearing to Goda, to Shibuya Station, to everyone, that I like you the most.’"

"Hahaha," Jiutiao’s mother couldn’t help but laugh, "Indeed, there were no springti or cherry blossoms!"

"Hey, iji, why bring that up? There’s no need to rember it so clearly!" That mory, no matter how much he steeled himself, was too embarrassing for Dubian Che.

Kiyono Lin’s cherry-pink lips moved slightly, but ultimately she said nothing.

When they reached Class 1-4, the classmates were busy in a flurry, making the final preparations for the play.

"What’s going on! Why hasn’t everyone’s makeup been done yet?"

"Where’s the Tools Group? Quickly, go check the props again, we can’t miss anything!"

"Those people over there! If you’ve got nothing to do, go outside and bring in guests, don’t cause trouble here!"

"Have the promotional posters been put up?"

Dubian Che felt this was what the high school Cultural Festival was supposed to feel like; their Human Observation Departnt’s orderly manner—excluding the typhoon and the outstandingly above-standard results—seed out of place.

He looked around and couldn’t find Kunii Shuichi and Saito Huijie, unsure if they had slipped away to play or had been sent to distribute flyers by the girls.

After he picked up the oboe, the four of them walked towards the gymnasium.

The Goda High School gymnasium was huge, fit for a formal basketball court.

Kiyono Lin and Dubian Che went backstage to prepare.

Jiutiao mother and daughter took their seats added specially by the principal.

That old man, usually sowhat restrained towards Jiutiao iji, showed his full colors as a capitalist lackey blatantly favoring Jiutiao’s mother.

Had it not been for his allegiance to the Jiutiao Family, once Dubian Che beca pri minister and ford his cabinet, this man would be the first he would take care of.

However, practically speaking, if all went as expected and Dubian Che married Jiutiao iji, it was more likely that this old man would be promoted.

As they waited for the performance, Jiutiao’s mother and daughter discussed the recent events.

"Mr. Dubian said in front of Lin that he’d only be your leading man, they must be just friends."

"Just friends?" Jiutiao ijie focused her gaze on the gym’s spotlessly reflective floor, "Mother, Kiyono Lin has never had friends her whole life, so why did she beco friends with Dubian?"

"Isn’t that girl Lin opposed to lying? Could it be that Mr. Dubian doesn’t lie?"

Jiutiao ijie rarely showed a helpless expression, "Does he look like it?"

Seeing her daughter’s expression, Jiutiao’s mother laughed joyously, "Then what’s special about him? Lin befriended him, and even you chose him to be your husband."

"He has many secrets that I find intriguing."

"There are many ways to uncover secrets; there must be other reasons."

"It’s his looks."

"Hmm," Jiutiao’s mother nodded in agreent, "but that’s still not enough."

Jiutiao ijie shifted her gaze back to her mother, "Whatever reason you’re looking for, that’s my reason for choosing him."

"What reason do I want?" Jiutiao’s mother looked at her daughter playfully, "The only reason I hope for you choosing a husband is because of love."

"Then, I love him," Jiutiao ijie looked away, and on stage, the Wind Instrunt Club mbers were taking their places.

Jiutiao’s mother watched, focusing on Dubian Che holding an oboe.

Unlike the other nervous mbers, he yawned with boredom, appearing as if he hadn’t slept a wink last night.

He was a truly beautiful young man, every move he made captured the hearts of the girls. Plus, according to what she knew, he was extrely diligent and naturally talented beyond ordinary people.

He was impeccable in character.

When poverty struck, he endured hard work under the scorching sun; when wealthy, he neither flaunted nor deprived himself unnecessarily.

Jiutiao’s mother thought, except for not carrying the Jiutiao surna, young Dubian Che had no other faults.

"iji, those things are indeed important, but for us mother and daughter, not getting them isn’t a big deal. As a mother, I feel our family is enough now. What I truly wish is for you to be happy."

"... Mother, I haven’t lied."

At last, Jiutiao’s mother showed a genuine smile, "That’s good."

"Hello everyone, next is the Wind Instrunt Club’s performance ti." It was probably the Minister of the Wind Instrunt Club who spoke loudly into the microphone.

A roaring applause broke out in the gymnasium.

The fact that Goda High School’s Wind Instrunt Club had beco the representative of Kantou and would participate in the nationals in late October was already posted on the school’s official website.

It was also specifically ntioned in the "Goda High School Cultural Festival Guide" manual.

"First is the piece, ’March for the Endless Dreams.’ This story-rich composition invites everyone to guess the kind of story it tells through our music."

Amid the announcent, Kiyono Lin with her long hair tied up took the conductor’s stand.

As she raised her baton, the gymnasium fell silent, and one could faintly hear the Wind Instrunt Club mbers inhaling sharply into their lungs.

The next mont, the white baton traced elegant lines in the air as Kiyono Lin’s slender fingers flowed like water.

In sync with her movents, the neat brass music perated the walls of the gymnasium, wandering throughout all of Goda High School.

"The second piece, ’Prosperous Four Seasons.’ The highlight of this composition is the oboe solo. In the Tokyo tropolitan and Kantou competitions, Dubian Che, who perford the oboe for our club, received unanimous approval from the judges, and even received a direct admission invitation from Tokyo Art University."

The crowd erupted into noise.

Tokyo Art University, the only national art university in the island nation, located near Ueno Park in Tokyo’s Taito District, is widely recognized dostically as the top institution for nurturing artists.

"Is that true?" Jiutiao’s mother asked.

She had heard from Jiutiao iji that Dubian Che’s oboe performance was exceptional, but she didn’t expect it to be to this extent.

"He didn’t ntion this to ."

"Trying to surprise you?"

"I think he just forgot," Jiutiao iji casually remarked, guessing the truth.

"How could he forget to display such a talent that impresses you?"

"He prefers to show off his daily workout results in bed."

"Really, there’s no need to ntion such things to your mother."

Pause for two seconds.

"Do you an Mr. Dubian is very good?" Jiutiao’s mother eyed Dubian Che appraisingly.

"....Mother, you don’t need to know about these things."

"I’m considering your happiness!"

"You’re thinking too much."

During the conversation, the lody of "Prosperous Four Seasons" began to play, and the two quieted down.

First ca winter, with the main lody carried by a crisp flute sound, followed by a storm-like blend of sounds.

As winter slowly passed and before spring arrived, a brief oboe solo served as a bridge.

Because of what the Wind Instrunt Club Minister had said, the audience paid special attention to the oboe, straining their ears to hear in the silent gymnasium.

Like a watercolor painting in a Western fairy tale on a red brick house wall, a cluster of tiny flowers slowly blood.

At the forefront were vibrant greens, the white petals tinged with yellow, imparting a gentle and pure sensation.

With the ocarina-like oboe sound, everyone was deeply moved by the vitality of the plants, holding their breath.

"Is this Mr. Dubian’s performance?" After the solo, as spring fully arrived with a symphony of blooming flowers, Jiutiao’s mother asked admiringly.

Jiutiao iji slightly squinted her eyes and said nothing.

She looked at the young man on the stage, her lips curving into a faint smile.
