"Hm..."
l mused as she road freely around the Central Grand Hall, the marble ceiling reaching skyward, and the room sparse enough to occupy all seventeen students of Elite Class with space to spare.
The Elite seniors roughly filled up the rest, chatting with the juniors they had been acquainted with in Embervale.
"Guess Elite Classes get the Hall for Practice."
A subtle pressure descended on l’s shoulder as she sighed, her back hugging the sidewall idly.
"It’s rely another political asure."
Rosana soon joined her with a taunting smile.
"Elites get the privilege, just as the strong shall hoard all the first choices."
"La."
Lila, again, mimicked l as she leaned onto the cold wall, her back shifting uncomfortably.
"Nobles always have so political agendas," Lila mumbled as she nuzzled her head onto l’s shoulder.
"Must be too desperate to flaunt their status. They should get their own l soday."
"Oh?" l raised a brow. "Is my Lila suggesting to share ?"
Lila rely squinted with a faint blush.
"Can I stop you otherwise? Ah, but either way, they must pass through first."
"Then did I pass through the test?" Rosana inquired, which only elicited a subtle growl from Lila.
"Alright alright." l clapped, signaling as Samantha joined another teacher ahead of the scattering groups of students.
Her relaxed glance then lowered into a subtle glare upon a senior; her purple hair wrapped in a flamboyant, loose ponytail as a rapier dangled at her waistband.
She gripped her fist; Selaria’s crying still echoed aloud in her ears.
Then, as she spotted the teacher beside Samantha, her brow raised with interest.
That old teacher, with that swept back brown hair and sturdy black eyes, wasn’t that the Teacher Head she ’dissed’ yesterday?
As the Teacher Head, Vernon, t her smiling gaze, he rely nodded lightly with his hand placed on his chest; the gesture was quick yet graceful.
"Today."
Yet as he swept over the Elite Classes, the two brows knitted together like a click for his ’work mode’.
"You two Elite Classes will begin group battles against each other."
Group Battles? Just as l recalled the bald Collins ’beat the weak, raise the strong’ tactic, the newly appointed Teacher head instead shouted.
"Specifically, three Juniors will challenge only one senior in a battle."
Noises then sprouted within the classes; most were complaints from Juniors, while the Seniors shrugged as if anticipating the ’beatdown’ tradition.
"Silence."
Samantha clapped once, and soon all lips pursed under her stern glare.
"I presu you all have encountered the Embervale incident, refreshed with a newfound sense of danger."
She then, unexpectedly, bowed.
This shocked everyone, even l, who knew everything about Gluttony from the details of her utterly powerful abilities, to even the color of her diapers.
"Mi-miss Samantha?"
Vernon called out. This is not in his script. Not at all! Stop adding workload if it’s not necessary.
Ignoring him, Samantha continued.
"Here. This Academy, again, was fully responsible for comprising the dangers of many talents in this hall. I would admit it without sha."
Yet, she raised with a sharp gaze, unfaltered even under a strained atmosphere and judging whispers.
"However." She added. "In the Embervale Raid, most of you hid behind the Seniors, the Knights, and l’s summons to prioritise your own lives, didn’t you?"
And then, the silence returned once again, with so casting a guilty look on the cheerful l.
Part of them almost yelled, ’Isn’t this the academy’s fault?’, but little could be said under the only Archon-ranked Professor in the academy.
Though yes. The frustration of that day lived within all the juniors’ chests.
Their inexperience made them useless, with most monsters cleared by l and Selaria’s leadership of the Knights.
"Tch."
A Princess soundly clicked her tongue, yet everyone ignored her.
"Does that not make you furious? Your own fate in the Academy, held by others instead of your own powers, one that I’m sure you all were confident in."
And thus, Samantha ended.
"This is a valuable opportunity. Whether it’s a beatdown for you or the Senior, take the humiliation or triumph and grow properly."
She then glanced at Vernon. "Head Teacher?"
"Ah-ah..."
Vernon remained stoned, along with a perfect poker face.
Though inside, he took a huge sigh of relief.
Great. All students cald, riled up, even.
No nobles rioting, either. As expected of the Archon-ranked, forr Commander.
"We’ll now comnce the practice session."
Vernon gestures. "Seniors stepped aside. Juniors would group up and choose one of you to beat up."
The Seniors all collectively groaned, yet obeyed at their new Class Teacher’s order; Collin would’ve yelled, but they all secretly respected the mannered Vernon more.
Also, none of them thought they would lose. After all-
"Excuse ."
However, a confident, mischievous voice called out in the hall.
And for a mont, Samantha’s sternness threatened to crumple. Her again.
"Do pray tell what it is, l."
Samantha frowned; the distance did nothing to nullify her piercing stare at l’s relaxed eyes.
"Ah. I’m just saying."
l’s thumb casually swung between Lila and Rosana. "We three will team up! And I don’t think any of the seniors could match us!"
The Seniors all grumbled; their absolute humiliation guiding their glare to-
Oh. It’s just l, who practically soloed all the Monsters in Embervale.
Ah. It’s Lila and Rosana, two of the crazy bastards who yelled at each other constantly for ’killcounts’ while leisurely swiping away most of the Monster Hoards.
Then, their survival instinct kicked in, and all stepped aside with shuddering breaths.
Yeah. They’re not ssing with that.
"Oh..."
All except the Second Princess, with folded arms over her chest.
"None could match you, huh?"
The Purple-haired Senior smiled, though her brows remained flat with a restrained ire.
"Yep!"
l heavily nodded, turning her smug look to the Second Princess.
"I greet you, Second Princess Luria."
Though Luria scowled; l didn’t bow, even when the Head Teacher did.
A challenge to the Royal Family.
No, maybe the target was her from the start? Singling her out so she could be beaten down?
A wide, nacing smile soon appeared at Luria’s lips; how blatant.
And if two were playing at the ga-
"I greet you, Friend of my poor, weak Sister."
She alone would co out on top, as always.
Her fist secretly curled into a vice-like grip, yet her fingers danced inside at the palm.
mories of the First Sister almost surfaced, but she swiftly suppressed them.
