Wanwan looks perfectly content and imnsely enjoyed being in Mu Cidian’s arms.
The nanny looked at them and remarked, "I suddenly think that the reason Wanwan can’t crawl might be because the master is always holding her. At ho, whenever he’s free, he always holds Wanwan. She is already accustod to being embraced by her father at all tis."
Xin Zaozao turned her head to look at Mu Cidian.
Feeling her gaze on him, Mu Cidian didn’t turn to look at Xin Zaozao. His attention was still on Wanwan, and he responded indifferently, "I will practice with her more."
That remark was intended for Xin Zaozao.
His voice was cold and detached, showing no emotion.
Completely different from the affectionate tones he used when looking at Wanwan.
Completely different from the tones he used when speaking to Wanwan.
Xin Zaozao bit her lip and stood up from the crawling mat, put on her slippers, and said, "I’m going back to the office."
"Mmm," Mu Cidian grunted in reply.
It was only a grunt, and all his attention was on Wanwan, the embodint of indulgence in his eyes.
That mont when Xin Zaozao left the door, she looked back.
Seeing how Mu Cidian was continuously playing with Wanwan, Xin Zaozao didn’t even realize that Mu Cidian could smile so many tis in a single day.
Of course.
Mu Cidian’s smiles were only for Wanwan. When it ca to her, he was cold and alienating, like two tenants living under the sa roof.
The nanny watched Xin Zaozao leave, turned to Mu Cidian and said, "Sir, I think the madam seems a bit different."
"Hmmm?" Mu Cidian’s attention was entirely on Wanwan.
"When Madam was looking at you and Wanwan earlier, she had such a big smile on her face," the nanny said.
Mu Cidian smirked.
There weren’t any significant fluctuations in his emotions.
He was beginning to gradually suppress his feelings, suppress this emotion that could only be suppressed.
"Perhaps if the master took a bit more initiative..."
"Wanwan needs to be fed, help warm the milk," Mu Cidian abruptly interrupted the nanny.
The nanny knew that the master didn’t want to hear her babbling, and she sighed.
How can they possibly reconcile by being cold with each other like this?!
...
In the afternoon.
Xin Zaozao returned one hour late.
Everyone had already eaten dinner at ho.
The nanny quickly said to Xin Zaozao returning, "We left so food for you, Madam. Because we don’t know when you would co back, we ate first."
It seed like she was making an explanation.
"Mmm, there’s no need to wait for ," Xin Zaozao responded indifferently.
At that mont, she couldn’t figure out why she felt a bit uncomfortable.
She’s not one to be calculative, and yet inexplicably, she was being calculative just then.
The only thing she was worried about was, would he no longer take the initiative to call her?
Xin Zaozao bit her lip, not letting her mind wander.
She just glanced towards the living room.
"Wanwan is asleep, and the master is accompanying her in the room," the nanny quickly said, as if reading her thoughts.
"Okay," Xin Zaozao nodded.
"I’ll warm up the food for you. Go change your clothes and co out to eat."
"Thank you."
Xin Zaozao made her way to her room.
Opened the door.
In the room was a naked figure...
Xin Zaozao paused, dazzled.
Mu Cidian also paused.
He hurriedly turned around and walked into the adjacent closet.
Xin Zaozao bit her lip, her face inexplicably flushing.
She knew that Mu Cidian had just co out of the bathroom after showering, but it was just awkward for them to encounter each other like this...
You should know that in this period of ti, they didn’t even touch hands.
Speaking of it. Usually, when they sleep, Wanwan is in between them, and Mu Cidian is always properly dressed, from neck to ankle, certainly not exposing any additional skin. As for her, she would sotis wear cool nightclothes. Usually, when she wore those nightclothes, Mu Cidian would sleep with his back facing her. His gaze never strayed. After they married, they couldn’t have been more innocent.
Xin Zaozao seed to be stunned for a mont.
By that ti, Mu Cidian had already dressed properly and had co out.
At ho, he usually wears a comfortable set of loungewear, not pajamas, just casual wear.
Xin Zaozao watched him walk out, as if only then she could co back to reality.
She slowly entered the room, hearing Mu Cidian saying, "I didn’t expect you to suddenly return."
It seed like he was explaining why he wasn’t wearing any clothes.
Xin Zaozao bit her lip and nodded.
She didn’t really mind much, but the sudden sight earlier had caught her off guard.
Besides, they already have a child, she wouldn’t be so prudish about it.
On the contrary, it was Mu Cidian. He very seriously said to her, "I’ll be more alert next ti."
After saying that, he walked out of the room.
After he left the room, he closed the door behind him.
Xin Zaozao looked at the firmly closed door. For so reason, her heart felt stifled.
It felt as if she had been scratched by a cat – a mix of pain and itchiness!
She gritted her teeth, taking a look at the sleeping Wanwan. She took a deep breath, changed into a fresh set of clothes, quickly washed up, and left the room.
As she left the room, Mu Cidian, who had been in the living room, entered the room.
As if purposely avoiding sharing the sa space with her.
Xin Zaozao was eating dinner.
The nanny sat beside her, "Madam, does the food not suit your taste? If you want to eat sothing else, just tell , I’ll have the nutritionist prepare it tomorrow."
The nanny has had a lot of free ti lately.
She was originally in charge of taking care of the baby.
But now, the baby is mostly not taken care of by her – rather, the master spends most of the ti with the baby.
He barely lets her take care of the baby during the day and night. She feels sowhat idle, and since her wage is the sa as a top-level nanny, she feels a bit guilty. So, she tries to find sothing to do around the house.
"No," Xin Zaozao shook her head.
"It seems like Madam is not enjoying the food. Is sothing wrong at work?" The nanny started a conversation.
"No, I had so tea in the afternoon, so I’m not very hungry." Xin Zaozao made up an excuse.
"Oh," the nanny nodded, not asking any further.
Xin Zaozao quickly finished dinner.
The maternity nurse was clearing the dining table.
By this ti, Wanwan was also awake.
Mu Cidian held Wanwan until Xin Zaozao finished eating, then he handed Wanwan over to her.
It seed to have beco a habit that when Xin Zaozao was ho, Wanwan was primarily with Xin Zaozao, Mu Cidian seldom interfered.
Other than when she was sleepy and needed her father, Wanwan was easy to take care of.
Xin Zaozao took Wanwan.
After handing over Wanwan, Mu Cidian walked away.
Xin Zaozao was not sure why Mu Cidian spent his free ti at the computer; she thought he might be doing this to maintain a distance from her.
She spent the evening playing with Wanwan.
The routine of bathing, feeding and putting Wanwan to sleep before bed was all done by Mu Cidian.
Xin Zaozao was mostly just watching from the side.
Once Wanwan was asleep, Mu Cidian would sleep beside her; he usually took his bath before bedti.
Only after Wanwan was asleep did Xin Zaozao go for her bath and then to sleep.
When she ca out of the bath, Mu Cidian was often not asleep yet.
The room still had so light on.
Today, on top of bathing, Xin Zaozao also washed her hair and lingered a little. Coming out of the bathroom, she found Mu Cidian seed to have fallen asleep.
His regular breathing indicated that he was sleeping. His hand softly rested on Wanwan’s little belly. Upon careful observation, you could see that he only supported his hand slightly and didn’t really press on Wanwan. This was probably because he was afraid she would kick off the blanket, so he kept his hand next to her.
Xin Zaozao’s heartbeat beca erratic.
Lately, her emotions had been fluctuating whenever she was around Mu Cidian.
She quietly lay in bed.
As she lay down, she reached out, cautiously touching Mu Cidian’s hand.
She thought sleeping with his hand propped like that must be uncomfortable for Mu Cidian. She was a light sleeper and would notice if Wanwan kicked off the blanket.
As her hand got closer to Mu Cidian’s, the mont her finger touched his finger
Mu Cidian suddenly woke up.
He opened his eyes and looked straight at her.
It was as if he hadn’t been asleep at all; there was no trace of sleepiness in his eyes.
Xin Zaozao involuntarily pulled her hand back.
In a soft voice, she said, "I thought you were pressing on Wanwan."
"Mmm." Mu Cidian pulled his hand back, but offered no explanation.
Xin Zaozao re-adjusted Wanwan’s blanket.
The three of them, each with their own blanket, shared the bed.
In reality, Wanwan was well covered, and Xin Zaozao was rely trying to hide her embarrassnt.
Mu Cidian turned over, his voice deep, and asked, "Shall I turn off the light?"
"Okay."
Mu Cidian turned off the light.
He turned his back to Xin Zaozao and Wanwan for the entire night.
Xin Zaozao stared at his silhouette.
She could strongly sense Mu Cidian’s rejection of her.
Late into the night.
It was probably very late.
Wanwan had almost stopped drinking milk at night, but there were occasional nights when she would suddenly wake up.
Hearing Wanwan’s cries, Xin Zaozao quickly sat up and turned on the dim light in the room.
To her surprise, Mu Cidian wasn’t in the bed anymore.
Xin Zaozao quickly picked up Wanwan.
At 8 months, she hadn’t weaned Wanwan off breast milk, but she didn’t directly feed her anymore. So sotis when Wanwan woke up at night, it was Mu Cidian who ward the milk for her. At the mont, Mu Cidian was nowhere to be found.
She picked up Wanwan and got off the bed.
Just as she got out of bed, Mu Cidian ca out of the bathroom.
"She woke up and started crying suddenly," Xin Zaozao explained.
"Mm, I’ll warm the milk for her."
"Okay." Xin Zaozao continued to comfort Wanwan.
Mu Cidian ward the milk, put it into a bottle, took Wanwan from Xin Zaozao’s arms. Wanwan was much calr in her father’s arms.
Wanwan got especially excited seeing the milk in her father’s hand.
Mu Cidian put the bottle’s nipple into Wanwan’s mouth. The mont she tasted the milk, she quieted down and began gulping it down eagerly.
Wanwan had a good appetite.
Not only could she drink a whole 240 milliliters of milk in one go, she also ate a full bowl of solid food every ti.
The doctor suggested that if Wanwan continued eating like this, she might need to diet, and reminded them to be more cautious.
Plainly, Mu Cidian couldn’t bear to let their daughter go hungry. As long as she wanted to eat, he would make sure she got enough.
Xin Zaozao stood by the side, watching Mu Cidian feed Wanwan.
Mu Cidian did not look up, his gaze focused on Wanwan’s face. He said, "You should go to sleep. I’ll put her to bed once she finishes the milk."
Xin Zaozao, at this ti, was not really sleepy. It was challenging for her to get out of bed when she was awakened by Wanwan’s cries.
Yet, she just nodded.
She turned around and went to the bathroom. As she sat on the toilet, she inadvertently noticed a pair of underwear in the trash can next to the toilet.
A pair of... n’s underwear.
Xin Zaozao stared at the underwear, as if discovering sothing.
She shifted her gaze, choosing to ignore it.
When she ca out of the bathroom, Wanwan was still feeding. She laid back down on the bed.
Lying on bed, she watched Mu Cidian quietly feeding Wanwan.
Xin Zaozao felt her face growing hot.
Mu Cidian, oblivious to Xin Zaozao’s gaze, soothed Wanwan to sleep after she finished feeding. Wanwan fell asleep shortly, probably due to hunger.
Mu Cidian put Wanwan on the bed, covered her with a small blanket, and then noticed that Xin Zaozao was not asleep yet.
He said, "Go to sleep, she will not wake up again."
Xin Zaozao snapped back to reality. She felt embarrassed as her mind had been preoccupied with the n’s underwear discarded in the bathroom.
Seeing no response from Xin Zaozao, Mu Cidian did not say anything more.
Mu Cidian turned off the light in the room.
The room was once again darkened and quiet.
So quiet that hardly any sound could be heard.
Xin Zaozao was restless, her heart felt like it was at the heat of a burning fla. She had the strange urge to let it burn.
The man beside her, on the other hand, seed to be sleeping soundly.
