Xin Zaozao ended up getting into Mu Cidian’s car.
Without uttering a word, both Xin Zaozao and Mu Cidian were silent, but it was apparent that Mu Cidian was in a good mood.
He parked the car at Xin Zaozao’s apartnt complex.
Xin Zaozao got out of the car.
Mu Cidian followed and got out of the car as well.
Xin Zaozao paused, "I’ve arrived ho, you can go back now."
"I’ll escort you to your door."
"Mu Cidian."
"I regret not being with you throughout your whole pregnancy, I can only do as much as possible to fulfill my duties as a father as you are about to give birth."
Xin Zaozao gritted her teeth.
She persevered.
They entered the community together.
Seeing them, the security guard quickly ca over with a beaming smile, "Mr. Mu and Miss Xin have finally made up."
Mu Cidian lightly laughed and nodded.
Xin Zaozao said, "He’s not from our community, don’t let him in again."
"Young folks love to flirt." The security guard laughed heartily.
Mu Cidian openly laughed at the side.
Xin Zaozao shot a glance at Mu Cidian and headed inside.
Upon reaching her door.
When Xin Zaozao assud that Mu Cidian would insist on following her in, Mu Cidian paused, holding out his laptop for Xin Zaozao, "Don’t work too hard, call if you need anything."
Xin Zaozao looked at him.
Mu Cidian stood at the door, grinning at her.
Xin Zaozao quickly slamd the door shut.
Watching the closed door, Mu Cidian slowly left Xin Zaozao’s residence.
Everything in moderation.
Everything must be kept in moderation.
Back in her room, Xin Zaozao felt a strange oppression in her heart, but found no way to vent it. She tried to keep herself calm.
Only after a while did she pick up her phone and dialed Song Lifei, "How’s everything at Lei Family Village?"
"Still investigating. The police are currently questioning the villagers, but progress has been slow. Although we suspect that Lei Qiang is involved, I’m having people look into Lei Qiang’s finances. It may take so ti."
"Inform once there are updates."

"No." Xin Zaozao denied, "A family devoid of love is the biggest harm to a child."
"But you both have love."
"I don’t want to discuss my private affairs with you." Xin Zaozao responded bluntly, "After my prenatal check, I’ll be back at work. You can co to my office alone to fill in on the investigation at Lei Family Village."
"I thought you wouldn’t be coming to work." Song Lifei said.
Eight months along, 34 weeks now.
Just six more weeks till the birth.
Still working so hard.
"Before I stop coming, I should first get my work in order. I understand my health condition well. I won’t push myself."
"Suit yourself."
It seed that Song Lifei couldn’t persuade her, either.
Probably no one could stop her.
Afer hanging up the phone, Xin Zaozao felt the baby move inside her.
She naturally began to stroke her belly.
While doing so, she rembered the heat of Mu Cidian’s hand on her belly...

Now at nine months, or 36 weeks pregnant.
Starting from this week, Xin Zaozao had to do a prenatal check-up every week.
While dialing Song Lifei to discuss work issues, she went downstairs to take a car to the hospital.
Just as she reached the community gate, she paused.
Song Lifei called out to her, "Chairwoman, any other instructions?"
Xin Zaozao turned around, "Hmm, no."
"Alright then."
Xin Zaozao hung up the call.
She saw Mu Cidian parked at the entrance in his car, her driver was nowhere to be seen.
She furrowed her brows.
Mu Cidian said, "He’s not feeling well, I told him to go ho and rest, I’ll take you."
"Why didn’t he take leave through if he’s unwell?"
"Maybe we should fire him for disrespecting his leader." Mu Cidian suggested.
Xin Zaozao was gritting her teeth.
Mu Cidian always could say sothing that made her instantly furious.
He clearly knew she wouldn’t do that.
Mu Cidian opened the car backseat door, "Get in."
"I’ll take a taxi."
"Where are you going to find a taxi in such a high-end neighborhood?" Mu Cidian asked.
Xin Zaozao glared at him.
"I’m the father of the child, everything I do is for the child..."
Xin Zaozao got in.
She really didn’t want to hear Mu Cidian keep saying that he was the father of the child.
So what if he is the father of the child?
Mu Cidian watched as Xin Zaozao settled in, then he returned to the driver’s seat.
He drove off.
Xin Zaozao stared out the window.
Mu Cidian said, "I hope Miss Xin can adapt to my presence."
"Why should I adapt to you?"
"Because I’m the father of the child, I have a responsibility to care for her."
"Mu Cidian!"
"Have you made the choice I presented to you before, Miss Xin?" Mu Cidian asked.
"There is no choice!" Xin Zaozao answered.
Mu Cidian’s mouth curled slightly, he didn’t ask any further.
Arriving at the hospital, they went to the examination room.
At 36 weeks, there was a big full-body check-up, the greatest check-up apart from childbirth itself during pregnancy.
There were several items to check.
Mu Cidian followed her around, running to and fro.
At first, Xin Zaozao rejected it, but gradually let it be.
She was now lying in bed undergoing a 4D ultrasound scan for the baby.
Mu Cidian was also standing by her side.
"You go out and wait for ," Xin Zaozao said.
"It’s fine, dads can be present too," the ultrasound doctor quickly replied, "Sotis it’s better to have the dad around. The little one tends to cooperate more and shows us everything."
Xin Zaozao was at a loss for words.
Mu Cidian gave the doctor a charming smile.
The doctor also had a slight smile on his face and the nurse lifted up Xin Zaozao’s maternity gown.
It was the first ti Mu Cidian saw Xin Zaozao’s belly. It was round and very white. The bulging area was even cuter than he had imagined.
And so, he watched.
Xin Zaozao blushed in embarrassnt, "Look at the baby!"
Mu Cidian snapped back to reality.
As he ca to his senses, it seed like Xin Zaozao’s face had turned red.
He shifted his focus to the computer screen.
He asked, "What’s this part here?"
"This is the baby’s head."
"What about this part?"
"These are the baby’s little legs. Looks like she’ll have long legs."
"And this part?"
"This is where we determine the baby’s gender."
"It’s a girl," Mu Cidian said confidently.
The doctor simply smiled without saying a word.
And so it was.
He was basically right. That mont, a small flower blood in both Mu Cidian and Xin Zaozao’s hearts, though neither spoke a word.
"Now let’s listen to the baby’s heartbeat," the doctor said.
Then, they heard a sound like a rumbling train, quite clear.
Mu Cidian took out his phone, "Can I record this?"
"Of course," the doctor quickly replied, "The baby’s heartbeat is very strong."
Mu Cidian recorded it.
The doctor said, "Let’s take a look at the baby’s face."
Mu Cidian kept his gaze fixed on the screen.
"These are the baby’s eyes."
"This is the baby’s nose."
"This is the baby’s mouth. She’s yawning right now," the doctor said.
Both Mu Cidian and Xin Zaozao couldn’t help but laugh.
The doctor continued while performing the ultrasound, "Today, the baby was really cooperative. Miss Xin, do you rember the first ti when we tried to capture the baby’s face? It took us the whole day."
Xin Zaozao nodded.
"Indeed, the baby wanted to show her face to her dad," the doctor said, "It generally seems like daughters are closer to their fathers. This seems to be true."
Realizing he might have said sothing inappropriate, the doctor quickly changed the subject.
Xin Zaozao had a prenatal check the night before..
The baby was now around 11 lbs, which the doctor said was just right. For now, they could prepare for a natural birth.
Mu Cidian kept holding the colored ultrasound paper.
There were photos of the baby on the ultrasound paper.
It wasn’t really a clear image.
But he couldn’t take his eyes off her. He wanted to rember all her features, from her nose to her eyes and mouth, examining her bit by bit.
"Give the check-up report," Xin Zaozao finally couldn’t stand it anymore.
She reminded him.
She needed to compile all these check-up reports into a folder, so she could easily find them when needed.
Mu Cidian reluctantly took his eyes off the report and handed it over to Xin Zaozao.
After Xin Zaozao organized everything and exchanged a few words with the doctor, she and Mu Cidian left.
Mu Cidian drove Xin Zaozao ho.
Xin Zaozao said, "Can you drop off at my company?"
Mu Cidian looked at her through the rearview mirror, "You’re still working?"
Xin Zaozao didn’t want to answer.
She just didn’t want to talk to Mu Cidian.
So, Mu Cidian didn’t ask any further.
The car drove slowly.
Very slowly.
Xin Zaozao fell asleep inside the car due to the slow drive.
When she woke up, the car was parked in front of a shopping mall.
She turned her head to Mu Cidian, "Why did you bring here?"
"Didn’t the doctor just say that we need to prepare the delivery bag beforehand?" Mu Cidian asked directly.
"We still have a month. There’s no need to be so proactive."
"Anything could happen," Mu Cidian said firmly.
Xin Zaozao looked at him.
Mu Cidian had already gotten out of the car.
He walked towards the back seat and opened the door for Xin Zaozao.
Despite her doubts, Xin Zaozao got out of the car.
For so reason, she felt like she was being led by the nose by Mu Cidian.
They entered the baby care section.
As far as the eye could see, there was all baby stuff. At that mont, the reality that a new life would co into their lives seed to finally sink in.
Mu Cidian led Xin Zaozao into a baby store.
The staff arranged a delivery bag for them. Just as Xin Zaozao was about to leave with the delivery bag, Mu Cidian held her back, "Wait, we’re already here. Let’s buy so more stuff for the baby."
"Yes, we do have a lot of items for newborns here." The staff mber quickly said enthusiastically, "Do you know if your baby is a boy or a girl?"
"A girl," they both said in unison.
The sales assistant smiled, "Parents who are having daughters are always so happy."
Xin Zaozao stopped smiling.
But Mu Cidian continued to beam, "Do you have any little dresses or sothing?"
"We do, we do." The sales assistant quickly led him there.
There were many baby dresses, most of which were princess dresses. They looked unbelievably cute in the display window.
At that mont, even Xin Zaozao was starting to be moved.
Mu Cidian said, "Buy one of each in the smallest size on the mannequins."
"All of them?" the staff mber asked.
"Yes."
"Alright." The staff mber quickly agreed.
Mu Cidian then walked around, "All these are toys for newborns?"
"Yes."
"Then buy one of each."
"Of course, boss." The staff mber was so excited that he almost jumped in the air.
"What’s this?" Mu Cidian asked.
"This is a special service we offer. After the baby is born, you can use her footprints or her hair to make a keepsake. We have many types of keepsakes. You can choose one."
"One of each style."
"Alright. I’ll make a note of it. After your baby girl is born, we will co to your ho to help you. Do you want us to help you hire a personal photographer for your baby? They can take photos at birth, after a month, after a year..." The staff mber enthusiastically went on and on.
Mu Cidian ended up scheduling the planned albums for the baby until she was 10. If Xin Zaozao hadn’t stopped him, he might have booked all the way till she got old.
Even then, if it wasn’t for Xin Zaozao pulling Mu Cidian away, he probably would have bought everything in the store.
She didn’t think Mu Cidian was a person who didn’t care about spending money. It was not about the money, any sensible person would know that baby stuff gets replaced quickly, buying this much was just unnecessary.
But at that mont, Mu Cidian’s attention was completely focused on the feel of Xin Zaozao’s hand in his.
