Mu Cidian waited all night for a ssage.

He didn’t receive a reply from Xin Zaozao until 2 a.m. It read, "I won’t co back."

Mu Cidian responded to the ssage with a single word, "Okay."

Xin Zaozao stared at the ssage on the screen.

Due to the ti difference, it wasn’t too late for her. However, it must be very late in Jin City.

Was Mu Cidian still awake this late?

Or was he waiting for her reply?

She silently stared at her phone.

Song Lifei looked at Xin Zaozao across from him.

After they finished discussing a deal, they were now having dinner together.

Seeing her suddenly lost in her phone, he was puzzled. "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing." Xin Zaozao put down her phone. Using a knife and fork, she ate a steak and casually responded, "Can we go back tomorrow?"

"We’ve basically settled the plans today. We’ll sign the contract tomorrow. If you’re in a hurry to go back, you should be able to book a flight later in the day."

"Let’s book the early one then."

"You’re going back tomorrow?" Song Lifei confird.

"Yes."

"Alright then." Song Lifei nodded.

At the mont Xin Zaozao was about to send a ssage to Mu Cidian, she thought for a mont and then decided against it.

Who knows if there would be any changes in the plan.

...

The next day.

Mu Cidian called Wan Quan in the morning to tell her he was coming ho.

He got ho a little after two in the afternoon.

Before he returned ho, he had bought many gifts for Wan Quan.

He would always bring many gifts, which greatly delighted Wan Quan every ti.

Wan Quan affectionately held Mu Cidian’s hand, "Tonight, you’ll have dinner with ."

"Okay."

"We’ll eat out. Celebrating your birthday." Wan Quan arranged.

"What do you want to eat?"

"I miss the steak at Shangpin Xuan. It’s been too long since I had it," Wan Quan said, mouth watering.

"I’ll make a reservation."

"Reserve a few more seats. I called so of my friends to celebrate your birthday with us," Wan Quan suddenly ntioned.

Mu Cidian looked at his mother.

"I know it’s a bit pricey there, but we only get to eat there once or twice a year. It’s your birthday today. It’s okay to splurge occasionally," Wan Quan quickly added.

In the end, Mu Cidian agreed.

It’s not that it’s overly expensive.

Indeed, it’s quite expensive, but it’s okay to indulge once in a while.

He just prefers not to be in a crowd.

Before dinner.

Wan Quan dragged Mu Cidian to the mall for shopping.

Wan Quan bought herself so new clothes, increasingly luxe.

She insisted Mu Cidian buy a pricey suit.

Mu Cidian, unable to rebuff his mother’s insistence, bought one.

He put it on.

Wan Quan had tears in her eyes, "Cidian, it’s been too long since I saw you dressed like this."

This way, the way he used to look.

Mu Cidian smiled and comforted her a little.

But at that mont, he thought to himself, he might not have ti to wear this suit again.

At least, not in front of Xin Zaozao.

Wan Quan had the hairdresser style Mu Cidian’s hair.

A few months after his release, his hair had grown quite long.

The hairdresser used hair gel to style his hair, which revealed his full forehead, giving him a fresh look.

Mu Cidian had gained so weight and had beco more robust since he was released. After getting dressed up, he didn’t look much different from the dashing man he used to be.

Wan Quan was very pleased with her son’s appearance.

She comnted, "You look much better like this."

She did not want to live the so-called poor life any longer!

She took Mu Cidian’s arm, and they went to restaurant Shangpin Xuan together.

As soon as they stepped in.

The waitstaff greeted them warmly.

Wan Quan thoroughly enjoyed the treatnt. At that mont, she seed to feel a breath of spring. Her smile was extrely evident.

The waiter led them to a round table near a glass window, which could seat six people.

Mu Cidian and Wan Quan took their seats.

Looking at the panoramic view of Jin City outside the floor-to-ceiling window, Wan Quan said, "Cidian, I thought I would never have a al in such an environnt or enjoy such high-end service again."

"Things will get better from now on."

"You have no idea how afraid I was during the ti you were in prison. It was worse than death."

"I know."

"Cidian, from now on, your mom is really going to rely on you. You won’t leave , will you?"

"No."

"Cidian..."

"Madam," the waiter approached respectfully.

Wan Quan looked up.

"Your friends have arrived."

"Bring them all over."

"Yes, madam."

The waiter departed.

Wan Quan was in high spirits.

The waiter walked over with several won of about the sa age as Wan Quan.

Wan Quan stood up, "You’re finally here. I’ve been waiting for you for a long ti."

"We were afraid that we might have gotten the wrong place. This is my first ti visiting such a high-end restaurant." One of the won complented hurriedly, "I always hear you boasting about how impressive your son is, eting is better than hearing about, you really are a wealthy woman!"

"Look at what you’re saying." Wan Quan motioned for everyone to sit down and said to Mu Cidian, "This is Aunt Lin, Aunt Fang, and Aunt Wang."

"Hello, aunts." Mu Cidian politely greeted.

"Wow." Aunt Fang looked at Mu Cidian with stars in her eyes. "Wan Quan, your son is so handso!"

"We made a special effort to dress up today. Usually, he’s just so-so," Wan Quan appeared humble.

"What are you talking about? Isn’t it because of his good foundation that he can be dressed so elegantly? By the way, does your son have a girlfriend yet? Does Aunt Lin need to act as a matchmaker?"

"My son is indeed single, but I’m afraid the resources around you can’t match my son, so you don’t need to worry." Wan Quan bluntly remarked.

Aunt Lin’s face turned sowhat awkward.

Clearly, Wan Quan invited them tonight to show off.

During their usual Mahjong gas, it was either you showing off or boasting, especially Wan Quan who always loved to praise her son. They had always thought she was bragging, but at this mont, they were indeed looking at her differently.

"Madam, have all of your guests arrived? Can we serve the al now?" The waiter was extrely respectful towards Wan Quan.

She was watched by the other three won.

Indeed, this was their first ti visiting such a high-end restaurant, and they were a little envious and jealous.

"Serve the al." Wan Quan appeared very composed.

Being a frequent guest in high-end places, she naturally handled these situations with ease.

Wan Quan looked at the three won in front of her, who were obviously surprised, and felt a little smug.

The waiter set the dinner on the table.

Wan Quan stated, "These are fresh cowboy steaks air-shipped from the S Country, you’ve never eaten this in your life, have you?"

The three won felt sowhat uncomfortable.

It was obvious that they could hear the boasting in Wan Quan’s words.

"Don’t worry if it’s not enough, just eat. We can always order more. But these steaks are very expensive. However, for my son, this is just small money, so eat as much as you like." Wan Quan said generously.

"We’re really thankful then."

"What’s the big deal? If I invite you to eat, it must be a good al. Besides, this money is nothing to my son, so eat freely."

The won reluctantly went along with it.

Their hearts were indeed uncomfortable, it wasn’t pleasant listening to Wan Quan boast. Usually, they would retort with cold sarcasm, looking down upon her, thinking she’s just boasting, but at this mont, her words left them speechless.

Mu Cidian remained quiet at the dinner table.

Quietly cutting his steak, eating in silence.

Ever since Wan Quan ntioned she wanted to invite a friend over, he knew she wanted to show off.

She must feel the need to prove herself after having endured hardship for so long, craving for others to acknowledge her.

Human nature.

So, he understood her.

He even thought his mother must have been subjected to similar scorn before, which would explain why she felt the need for others to see her in a better light.

But.

If she continues to show off like this, he wouldn’t be able to stand it.

He put his fork and knife down, and said quietly to his mother, "I’m going to use the restroom."

He just didn’t want to stay in such an environnt any longer.

Wan Quan didn’t care, she just nodded.

Mu Cidian got up and walked towards the corner.

In such a high-end restaurant, there is usually an outdoor garden for guests to relax. He was about to go there when he passed by the entrance of the restaurant, and his eyes paused.

The person coming in also paused.

The two people’s eyes t for two seconds.

Song Lifei looked at Mu Cidian, sowhat surprised, he asked, "Cidian, are you dining here?"

Mu Cidian moved his gaze away from Xin Zaozao.

She said she wouldn’t be coming back yesterday.

His mouth cornered slightly, and he responded, "Yes, I’m having dinner with my mom. I was just about to leave."

"Is that so, I was going to ask if we could dine together." Song Lifei invited.

Mu Cidian smiled and politely declined, then turned and walked back into the restaurant.

Song Lifei watched Mu Cidian’s retreating figure.

Suddenly he thought of sothing, "Mu Cidian, is your birthday coming up?"
