The gate of the fortress was breached, and the Sheng Army poured in.

Atop the tower, the bandits were still putting up a fight, but it didn’t matter because the Sheng Army had also begun ascending the tower!

Many soldiers, holding grappling hooks in their hands, hurled them onto the tower to hook onto the wooden barricades, then climbed up along the ropes.

The bandits on the tower had already been scattered by the bombardnt of cannons and muskets, even if they wanted to stop the ascent, it was to no avail.

The Sheng Army that had rushed into Puning Port quickly ford their ranks for the ultimate battle with the bandits within the port!

"Kill the bandits!"

At General Deng’s command, the soldiers all raced to be the first; they had waited far too long to take Puning Port!

Li Hongyun was exceptionally excited, continuously hurling javelins, and soon enough, nurous bandits fell to the ground.

The Sheng Army originally had the advantage in numbers, and now that the bandits had lost their terrain advantage and were cornered inside Puning Port, they were rapidly being pushed back.

However, just as Li Hongyun was vigorously slaying the enemy, a sense of crisis suddenly surged in his heart.

A flash of cold light streaked past!

Li Hongyun, having suffered in this "instance" for a long ti, was highly alert; without seeing the attack clearly, he had instinctively dodged it.

With a "swish," sothing grazed across his chest armor, leaving a deep mark on it!

Had he dodged any slower, that strike might have inflicted a fatal wound on him.

Li Hongyun widened the distance to get a good look and realized he was facing a familiar figure he had encountered before.

The Wandering Warrior!

This warrior wore Eastern Barbarian armor, and the Barbarian sword in his hand was much longer than ordinary ones, with exquisite swordsmanship and formidable fighting strength!

Li Hongyun had already encountered him at the beginning of this instance, where he was beaten so badly he didn’t know which way was up.

Fortunately, General Deng was fierce enough to shoot him dead with an arrow.

Had General Deng not intervened, Li Hongyun feared he would have been pursued and caught eventually. Once they engaged in close combat, there would have been no chance of winning.

But now, more Wandering Warriors had appeared!

The bandits entrenched in Puning Port were indeed elite Eastern Barbarian bandits, including a large number of regular troops, each one looking fiercely violent and incredibly formidable.

One would think that Barbarian swords aren’t suited for hacking through armor, especially since Li Hongyun was a Deputy General, wearing armor far superior to the typical cloth or padded armor of ordinary soldiers.

But at this mont, the bandits had entered a state of desperate struggle; who cared if the Barbarian swords would be damaged?

Li Hongyun’s expression couldn’t help but turn grave.

This was troubleso!

Indeed, this battle wouldn’t end so easily.

In many previous battles, although the bandits had fought with great tenacity, being raiders at heart, they would run if they found themselves overpowered.

But now, with no retreat possible in Puning Port, these bandits, cornered like beasts, were going to unleash a terrifying level of combat strength.

In a one-on-one fight, Li Hongyun had no confidence in defeating this Wandering Warrior.

Just then, soone behind him shouted, "My lord, quick, join the formation!"

Li Hongyun paused for a mont, then realized that several soldiers had quickly stepped forward, forming a group to shield him in the center.

Then, the soldiers ford into an array and launched an attack on the bandits!

The Wandering Warrior’s face revealed a disdainful expression.

Although General Deng had achieved consecutive victories that terrified many bandits, when it ca to individual combat prowess, these bandits always held themselves in high regard.

Take, for example, this Wandering Warrior - his Barbarian sword was long, coupled with his fine swordsmanship. Against ordinary Sheng Army soldiers, he could probably take on more than a dozen without issue.

This gave him strong confidence.

Even though the Sheng Army soldiers had now ford a strange formation and held peculiar weapons, it didn’t matter to him.

As long as his Barbarian sword was sharp, he would cut down anything that could be cut!

"Be careful!"

Watching the Wandering Warrior aggressively swing his two-handed Barbarian sword, Li Hongyun hurriedly warned.

With a "thud," the Barbarian sword struck the lead soldier’s rattan shield.

The battle-hardened Wandering Warrior had thought that his sword would cleave the rattan shield in two as easily as before; however, he miscalculated.

The new-style rattan shield not only possessed a certain flexibility, capable of blocking the bullets of muskets to so extent, but it was also extrely sturdy, and the Eastern Barbarian sword couldn’t cut through it!

The Wandering Warrior certainly tried to find an angle to bypass the rattan shield, but the soldiers wielding it were obviously very familiar with the attack thods of the Eastern Barbarian swords, blocking several consecutive strikes with ease.

The Wandering Warrior beca visibly irritated, but just as he was about to launch another attack, he saw a strangely shaped weapon thrust before his face.

The Wolf Whisker!

This weapon was made of bamboo and was much longer than a spear, with small iron spear tips tied to the branches of the bamboo. These iron tips were all aid at the rebels, looking like a porcupine, leaving no place to bite.

At the very front of the Wolf Whisker, like a spear, was a large tip, posing a significant threat to the rebels.

The Wandering Warrior didn’t give it a second thought; in his eyes, no matter how fancy the weapon was, it was still made of bamboo, and his Eastern Barbarian sword was sharp enough to cut it apart effortlessly.

Li Hongyun couldn’t help but feel sowhat tense.

Although he had read about this weapon in history books and knew it was an effective tool against rebels, he had never seen it used in actual combat.

And he had seen the sharpness of the Eastern Barbarian swords.

In the first battle, while wielding a long spear against the Wandering Warrior, he had confidently thrust it forward. However, the Wandering Warrior, looking utterly relaxed, held the extended version of the Eastern Barbarian sword and cut through one side of the spear, then with a combination of parrying and chopping, he had broken the spear shaft with a single blow.

Clearly, these rebels had so insights into dealing with long spears.

Previously, Li Hongyun had also seen so records in General Deng’s fragnted mories, such as:

When the rebels wield their Eastern Barbarian swords, they advance with a flash of dance, and our soldiers are overwheld already... Those encountered by them often have their bodies cut in two, because the weapons are sharp and used with both hands, the strength is heavy... As the rebels co out of the sentry post, our soldiers rush forward with their spears, and with one slice of the rebel sword, a dozen spears are broken at once, and the soldiers flee unard...

This ant that the reason why these rebels were difficult to deal with was that they held their swords with both hands, moved quickly with fierce strength, and were good at leaping to close the distance quickly.

When the soldiers of the Great Sheng Dynasty thrust with their spears, the rebels could easily break them, aning the concept of long weapons restraining short weapons could not be realized at all.

Although the Wolf Whisker was made of bamboo and seed much longer than a spear, it was still a bamboo structure after all, and it wasn’t certain that it could block the Eastern Barbarian sword as smoothly as tal weapons could.

Evidently, the Wandering Warrior thought the sa.

He tried to cut into the Wolf Whisker just as he had done with the spear, using the sa thod of parrying and chopping, to break its long shaft.

However, what happened next was completely beyond his expectation.

The sword simply couldn’t cut through!

Because the Wolf Whisker was full of various branching bamboo twigs, and although these twigs were not thick, there were many of them.

The long spear didn’t have these branches, so after the Eastern Barbarian sword cut vertically into one side, it t no resistance on the spear shaft.

But these branches on the Wolf Whisker had posed an obstruction to the Eastern Barbarian sword from the very beginning. Before the rebel could exert any force, the sword was already entangled.

He tried to exert force, but with the tangled branches, only a small portion of the blade’s power could be transferred to the shaft. Moreover, the old bamboo was very tough, and in the end, only two or three small branches were chopped off, leaving a shallow mark on the shaft which did barely any damage to the weapon!

Instead, it was the spear tip of the Wolf Whisker that thrust towards the Wandering Warrior!

The spear tip of the Wolf Whisker was even larger than that of a spear, and if it made a real hit, the large wound would have been enough to cause the rebel to lose fighting capability instantaneously.

After all, he was a battle-hardened Wandering Warrior, who quickly dodged to the side to avoid the spear tip of the Wolf Whisker.

However, the densely-packed tiny spear tips on the Wolf Whisker’s branches pricked the rebel’s body!

Not deadly, but very annoying!

In his fury, the battle-hardened Wandering Warrior tried to retract his Eastern Barbarian sword, but it was quickly thwarted as the small branches on the Wolf Whisker entangled the blade once again.

Originally, this extended Eastern Barbarian sword had been his unbeatable weapon, allowing him to cut through the enemy’s lines with its length advantage, but now, this length had beco a cumberso hindrance.

In the face of the Wolf Whisker, the most exquisite swordsmanship couldn’t be executed at all.

While the two sides were at a stalemate, two long spears thrust from the side!

The Wolf Whisker could easily shield against the slashing and hacking of the Eastern Barbarian sword, but the spears faced no such impedints.

Had it been an ordinary rebel, he would probably already be skewered to death by now, but this battle-hardened Wandering Warrior, with great ferocity, forcibly twisted his body and dodged the thrusts of the two spears.

Not only that, but he swung his Eastern Barbarian sword fiercely in an attempt to cleave a bloody path out of the situation!

But just then, a loud "bang" echoed by his ear.

Then, his chest gradually turned red with fresh blood.

The Wandering Warrior looked up incredulously to see Li Hongyun with the smoking barrel of a gun in his hands, pointed right at him.

"Have I heard that your sword is fast?

"I’m sorry, my musket draw is even faster!"
