The Dark Guild mbers were unmistakable. Even in the chaos of the Underside, where spells clashed, dust clouds rose, and bodies darted in every direction, their presence stood out sharply. Their long, heavy robes, enchanted to obscure their faces in shadow, made them appear like dark phantoms gliding across the battlefield. Compared to them, everyone else was painfully easy to distinguish.

Those who belonged to the Underside wore whatever they had managed to salvage from their lives below the surface. Even after being patched up by helping hands from Pagna and other allies, their clothes were worn, their bodies thin, their features hardened by years of malnourishnt and struggle. No enchantnts hid their exhaustion or fear.

The attackers hired by the Gizin Guild were the opposite, equipped with gear that was uniform, polished, and professional. They moved with discipline but lacked the eerie presence of Dark Mages.

And then, of course, there was the Dark Guild, robed, masked, and unmistakably sinister.

So when the next wave of them stepped out from the alleyways, appeared atop the rooftops, and rose into the air, Alen’s group instantly understood what was happening.

No discussion was needed.

"No hesitation!" Alen roared.

He blasted himself upward with a burst of magic, flas igniting at his heels as his body shot through the air. The mont he gained height, he threw his arms forward and fired two massive fireballs toward the advancing Dark Guild mbers.

From below, several Dark Mages reacted instantly. Dark beams lanced upward, colliding with the fireballs in violent explosions, scattering embers across the alley walls.

But Alen didn’t care. He didn’t expect his first strike to kill. This wasn’t a battle where one attack would win the tide, it was going to be brutal, grinding, and relentless. He had accepted that before even stepping forward.

The second his boots hit the ground, he pivoted sharply and swept both arms out, flinging several smaller fireballs toward the enemy line. Flas burst from his palms, lighting the battlefield in quick flashes of orange and gold.

Then he planted one foot, igniting the ground beneath it. Fire exploded upward, pushing him forward like a rocket. Even with his clothes enchanted heavily to withstand high temperatures, he still felt intense heat building around his ankle. Pain pulsed up his leg, but he gritted his teeth and pushed harder.

He shot forward, straight into the face of a Dark Guild mber.

His hand lunged out, stopping inches from the man’s mask. Alen flicked his fingers.

A fireball detonated point-blank.

The robed figure erupted into flas and collapsed before he could even scream.

There was no room for hesitation. No room for rcy. Alen and his remaining teammates had been waiting for this mont, anticipating the betrayal Harvey had unleashed. The fury that had built inside them finally found release.

Around them, reinforced earth walls rose from the ground, forming barriers against the incoming attacks. Each ti dark magic slamd into the walls, vibrations shook through the dirt and rock, but the structures held, at least for now.

From behind those walls, Alen’s people responded with coordinated spells. Large-scale magic erupted outward, roaring toward the Dark Guild in sweeping waves.

But Alen’s group was small. Too small.

Out of the original force, barely twenty of them remained, mangled, exhausted, but refusing to back down. They had been the ones willing to return and defend the Underside. They understood what was at stake, and they chose to stay.

Defending the shelter gave them a slight advantage. Their positioning was better, and they could funnel the Dark Guild through narrower paths. But even so... they knew the truth.

Eventually, they would be overwheld.

Especially as more Dark Guild mbers poured in from every corner of the Underside, drawn toward the shelter like a flood of shadows.

Alen refused to slow down. He flipped backward, landing lightly on one foot, and fired two fireballs from his palms. They struck their targets, but the protective robes of the Dark Guild absorbed a surprising amount of the impact.

His attacks were connecting, but they weren’t hitting hard enough. Not decisively enough.

There was a reason mages didn’t typically adopt close-quarters combat styles like his, it was too risky, too draining, too vulnerable. And now, in the thick of the fight, the flaws of his approach were becoming painfully clear.

The Dark Guild was not composed of fools. They saw exactly why they were struggling to push forward. Alen was the lynchpin, the core of the defense, the one holding everything together.

So they coordinated.

The mont Alen landed from his last flip, three Dark Mages extended their arms.

Ice magic exploded across the ground.

In an instant, frost wrapped around Alen’s legs, freezing him in place. Jagged shards of ice crawled up his boots and latched onto his ankles, locking his movent entirely.

He could burn through it, but it would take precious ti he didn’t have.

Because several other Dark Mages were already raising their hands.

Dark Pulses ford in their palms, swirling with lethal energy.

"Did you forget that we can use other magic besides Dark Magic?!" one of them shouted.

Two Dark Pulses launched straight toward Alen.

He braced himself, unsure if he would deflect them in ti.

But the blows never reached him.

Two Dark Pulses flew from the side, colliding perfectly with the incoming attacks. The spells canceled each other out in bursts of dark crackling energy.

"What the, ?!" The Dark Mages recoiled in shock.

Two hooded figures, wearing the sa Dark Guild robes, appeared beside Alen. Even Alen himself stared wide-eyed, unsure what was happening.

Then, a small black cat leapt up onto one figure’s shoulder.

Recognition hit imdiately.

At the sa mont, both figures tore off their robes and tossed them aside.

Gasps spread through the Dark Guild ranks.

Because standing there, openly defying their faction, were Kelly and Londo.

"We can’t do this!" Kelly shouted. Her voice trembled, not with fear, but with fury. "We can no longer accept the Dark Guild if this is what they’ve beco!"

"She’s right!" Londo said firmly, stepping forward beside her. "I know the Dark Magus wouldn’t want this. That’s why, we are no longer part of the Dark Guild!"
