Chapter 1530: War On Glory Guild (Part 1)

Hearing their next target, both sides naturally had questions. It was expected. The mont Raze suggested the Glory Guild, the room had shifted, a wave of unspoken doubts passing between the gathered allies. He knew they would ask. He had prepared for it.

“The Grand Magus are already guarded,” Raze said, his tone calm but firm, “waiting for us to strike directly. But if I know the Grand Magus well, then I know this, each one of them will be more concerned about protecting themselves than protecting anyone else. That selfishness has always been their greatest weakness.”

His eyes flickered toward Harvey, then Alen, before settling on the soldiers who had gathered.

“With Enaxx gone, the Glory Guild is open. The Glory Guild was Enaxx’s domain, his personal force, and Enaxx was practically under Idore. While so of their strongest mbers still remain, the balance of power has shifted. If we want to weaken them, if we want to remove another pillar, then we have to strike now before they can recover.”

He straightened, his voice sharpening.

“For this reason, rather than splitting our strength, rather than sending one group to delay the Grand Magus and another to attack, I say we combine our forces. We eliminate the Glory Guild completely before they have ti to react. This will be our first joint strike, our first test of cooperation, before we turn to the greater task of dismantling the Cerebus Guild.”

Harvey was nodding before Raze had even finished. His mind was already burning with old mories. He rembered the ti he, Kelly, and Sophie had clashed with one of the top mbers of the Glory Guild. Even with all their strength combined, they had been close to death, only just surviving the encounter. To him, this wasn’t just strategy. It was personal. He wanted to see how much he and his guild had grown. He wanted to asure himself against them again, to prove that all of their pain and effort had not been wasted.

“Can I ask,” Varkos spoke, his voice breaking the mont of silence, “is there anything the Glory Guild has done that we should know about? Sothing that makes them deserving of this? We are already aware of the things the Cerebus Guild has done, things far worse than most realize, things that even interfered with our own military affairs. But the Glory Guild… even if they were under Enaxx, are they truly deserving of being eliminated?”

It was a fair question. Even Raze could not deny it.

“I looked into them,” Alen added, stepping forward. “When I was researching Enaxx, I ca across more than a few reports. Many of the Glory Guild mbers are past criminals, not unlike those in the Dark Guild. The difference is that they were absorbed into the guild, their records conveniently cleared or hidden. And guess who handled that? The Cerebus Guild. They washed their hands clean.”

Alen’s expression hardened as he continued.

“On the surface, the Glory Guild has done many missions and presented themselves as respectable. But behind those missions, there have been countless ‘accidents.’ Civilian deaths. Collateral damage that was never publicly reported, never admitted. The pattern is clear, this happens most often around their higher mbers, those who hold real power.”

The group exchanged looks. From what Raze was suggesting, he wanted the Glory Guild gone, erased entirely. But if Alen’s reports were true, then not every single mber was guilty.

“If you want,” Harvey spoke up, his tone sharp with eagerness, “we can handle the dirtier work. You and your allies can take a supportive role. Use your magic, use your skills to weaken them, and leave the rest to us. We will stain our hands with blood if that’s what it takes. If that makes it easier for you to sleep at night.”

“Do you think we aren’t willing to take lives?” Mordain asked suddenly, his voice edged with steel. “Every person who joins the military knows the risk. They know there will co a ti when they must take lives, or risk their own being taken. Do you think every soldier we’ve killed was a bad person? That isn’t how war works. Sotis, it’s orders from soone far away, soone who never risks anything, that decides it. But we still fight. We still bleed. We still kill.”

He took a step closer, eting Harvey’s eyes directly.

“If we are to strike, then we need to understand why. We need a compelling reason. Not excuses. Not shadows of truth. A real reason.”

Raze nodded. He was thankful, in a way, that both sides were thinking clearly. The Grand Magus held all the power of Alterian in their hands. If they wanted to bring them down, they would need to cut away at that power. Even if it ant the innocent would be caught in the flas. Even if it ant blood that could not be justified would still be spilled.

The discussion ended there. Both groups knew there was no more ti. The attack had to happen imdiately, before the Dark Guild’s growth was discovered, before the Grand Magus had ti to prepare for what was coming, before hesitation could creep into their hearts.

The Glory Guild was not a place open to the public, yet its presence dominated the heart of the city. Its main building sat atop a wide staircase, the grand courtyard stretching proudly at its base. The structure itself was enormous, decorated with towering pillars that rose high into the air, showcasing the guild’s prestige and wealth.

Though the doors were closed to outsiders, the Glory Guild’s reputation drew people from all over. Citizens often climbed the great staircase simply to take pictures in front of the building, eager to capture themselves before one of the most respected guilds in Alterian. On that day, thousands of people stood on the platform, tourists and residents alike, snapping photos, laughing, and admiring the architecture.

And among all of them, hidden in plain sight, was the perfect place to begin the attack.

“I’ve pinpointed them all,” Liam whispered, his eyes narrowing as the information from his system burned inside his mind. “Are we ready? Three… two… one.”

On cue, Liam launched himself forward, his body surging with Qi. He moved so fast he was nothing but a blur, appearing instantly behind one of the guards. His sword flashed, and with a single swing he cleaved the man’s head from his shoulders. Blood sprayed into the air as the body collapsed.

In the sa heartbeat, Liam switched to his other sword, raising it high before swinging down in a powerful arc. A surge of dark energy followed the strike, tearing into the ground and shaking the air.

Beatrix, Da, and Safa moved at the sa ti. Each struck with sudden, overwhelming force, their attacks landing on the guards in their paths. One by one, the protectors of the Glory Guild fell, cut down in an instant, their bodies dropping before they could even react.

The coordinated assault was overwhelming, a storm of strength that shattered the guild’s outer defenses in the blink of an eye. The once-crowded courtyard filled with screams as people realized what was happening.

And now, with the guards gone, the way forward lay open. The soldiers and the guild mbers surged ahead, moving toward the grand entrance. Behind them, the crowd began to panic, scattering in every direction. But nothing could stop what had already begun.

The war against the Glory Guild had started.
