In the world of magic, there were the affinities that anyone was able to learn and gain affinity with. Fire, Wind, Earth, Ice, Lightning, Light, and even Dark. Learning such affinities, and having certain cores, would make it harder to learn other affinities, but technically any mage could learn all of these affinities, and that included Dark Magic.
Raze wasn't special in that departnt; he was just ahead of everyone who had tried to learn that particular magic in the past.
Then there were mages who had unique magic traits, special talents that mages were born with, that only they could do. Along with this, there were also unique affinities-mages either born with or later in life discovering affinities that they could use. Not enough research had been placed into how or why this phenonon had occurred, leading to mages and society in Alterian itself calling these mages the chosen ones.
For unlocking new types of magic, the issue was that with these rare affinities, the power also seed to be dependent on the person, and with so few having rare affinities, in most cases, mages would still be better off learning the other affinities and improving them.
Still, there was no doubt that they had been chosen by the world of magic, just like those with unique traits. Once again, Raze didn't have this. He was never born lucky in this world, born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
Seeing what was happening right now around him-how everyone was still and frozen in ti -it led Raze to think back to these unique affinities.
'This... I've been a mage lucky enough to see sothing like this before. It feels like it's Ti magic, but when I witnessed it, it was on a small scale. Stopping ti on a singular object, or in a small area.' Raze wafted his hand in the air.
It felt like even the air itself had frozen, not moving naturally to how he imagined it.
'For Ti magic to be used on this large of a scale? That has to be impossible, right? It has to be.'
"Will you look at that," a voice said.
Raze imdiately turned his head, and as he did, he could see a light blonde-haired man with round glasses on his face. A tall, slim fra, wearing a blazer that was buttoned up, along with a pair of straight long trousers that suited his long legs.
The man had an air of elegance around him, and based on the way he was dressed, Raze had no doubt that this man was a mage and was the one responsible for all of this.
"It's you. You were the one responsible for this?" Raze asked.
"You are correct," the man said, bowing down to Raze respectfully. "I've really wanted to et you for a long ti. You are quite the talented individual, and I hoped to see you rise the ranks in our organization.
"I guess what I'm saying might not make much sense, so let introduce myself. I am Henio, the leader of Alter."
Raze's eyes widened imdiately. From Charlotte, Raze had learned that the head and leader of Alter was a mage. It was quite clear that they were working with the Grand Magus in so way as well, due to the items they had used.
"In the end, who would have thought that your na would catch great attention from them? I don't see too much of the big deal... that was until now. I honestly thought Red would be enough for this, but I had a feeling that sothing would happen, so I decided to co myself.
"To be honest though, it was pretty scary for to step on this island, with magic not working and all. But then sothing happened, and now, I can use it just fine."
Raze was grinding his teeth and cursing himself in the back of his mind for not seeing this. The head of Alter, being just a 6-star mage? Of course, that couldn't be true. Why would such a person be in charge of a large organization that could even control the Light Faction from the shadows?
Raze had no preparations for this—to deal with a mage with the power of Ti magic like this-especially right now, after taking a Qi pill already.
"Why do this? Why don't you just kill ? You could have done that quite easily," Raze asked.
"It seems you don't know too much about my Ti magic, but I'm not surprised; next to no one does," Henio replied. "Taking you out wouldn't be so easy. And besides, I have been told not to kill you. It seems soone wants to do that with their own two hands."
That wasn't too much of a surprise after how much trouble Raze had caused the Grand Magus -and perhaps even more in Pagna.
"They will live to regret it," Raze said. "And not just them, you will live to regret not taking this chance right now."
Henio smiled.
"That's why I wanted to talk to you right now. This is my advice to you: stay out of it all. Alter, over hundreds of years, has gained countless artifacts. Those that are extrely powerful, that could have changed the state of Pagna long ago.
"We kept them behind closed doors for a long ti. Your factions, your clans, everything you built up even if you were to go after us, it would be a battle that you can't win. Don't be stupid in your actions."
Just like that, after finishing his sentence, Henio had disappeared. The air started to move again, and as Raze looked down at where his hands were, Henio wasn't the only thing that had disappeared.
"What happened?" Zon asked. He had noticed a discrepancy in his system that kept track of ti for him.
"What do you an? Have you gone crazy?" Lince asked. "Or crazier, maybe I should say."
"No, sothing has happened." Zon looked ahead at Raze, who had turned around. His hands were held out, as if he was holding onto an object, yet nothing was in his hands.
"The golden globe is gone... Alter took it," Raze answered.
