Chapter 33 Fight With a Treant
After handing the seeds to these five hundred people, Richard imdiately ordered them to start working.
As for the remaining people, Richard didn’t let them rest either.
“Everyone, take your tools and start building a road from Eagle’s Domain to the forest from today onwards!”
With Richard’s command, everyone sprang into action.
After a month of training, these people no longer had the chaotic scene they displayed at the beginning.
The twenty-five production team leaders imdiately began directing their subordinates. They organized their teams according to Richard’s ideas, dividing tasks clearly and managing everything with high efficiency.
A team initially assembled for clearing wasteland suddenly transford into a massive workforce, heading toward the broken road leading to the forest.
Fortunately, this road was part of Richard’s plan early on, so space had already been reserved during the clearing process, and all that was left was to clean up the weeds.
But even so, the stones, uneven and rugged sections, and the occasional swampy areas on the road all needed to be dealt with.
“Ali!” Richard called out to a knight squire by his side.
The man imdiately ca before Richard.
“My lord, what are your orders?”
This man was also soone Richard brought from the Duke’s domain. Although young, he was calm, decisive, and usually responsible for the overall coordination and command of the workers.
Of course, the specific orders for the command naturally ca from Richard.
Richard called him now, indicating it was ti to set the specific work standards.
Richard said, “According to the width of our carriages, this road must be wide enough to allow three carriages to travel side by side, understand?”
Richard wanted the width for three carriages to ensure that if the carriages carried items that were too wide, there would be no problems when they passed each other.
Leaving so extra space was also for future convenience.
Ali imdiately took out paper and pen to record Richard’s instructions.
Richard continued, “To ensure the road is durable and of high quality, you can’t just flatten it and call it done. First, I need everyone to dig down three feet into the road’s surface, compact it, then lay a layer of crushed stone and soil, and compact it again!”
“We need to lay down five layers, compacting each layer with a large hamr until the roadbed rises above the surface level, to ensure that even in the rain, the road won’t flood!”
“Once the sides of the road are secured, dig trenches for irrigation of the surrounding fields. The trenches should be half a ter away from the roadbed and should also be compacted.”
As Richard spoke, Ali quickly noted everything down on paper.
Richard glanced at Ali’s notes and, seeing they were correct, nodded slightly in approval.
The main reason for building the road was to facilitate the cutting down of trees in the forest for future construction.
At the sa ti, this road would eventually extend deeper into the forest as Richard gradually took control, making it easier to gather resources and transport them quickly.
After all these instructions, Richard ordered soone to inform Charles to bring out the five hundred people from the militia training camp.
They hadn’t been out hunting for a long ti, and now that everything was on track, it was ti for him to stretch his muscles a bit.
As for these militia mbers, they also needed to face so real combat experience.
Of course, militia mbers were not yet qualified to engage the swamp witch, so they were left for now; this would be a basic combat training exercise.
Under Richard’s lead, the militia quickly entered the forest.
As they went deeper, the militia mbers displayed varying qualities.
So were timid, so were eager to fight, while others were cautious.
But as they began killing wild animals like wolves and boars, the militia’s blood started to boil with excitent.
Suddenly, a panicked shout ca from the side.
Richard turned to see a militia mber being lifted into the air, entangled by a mass of vines.
These vines were clearly not ordinary; they were tightening around the soldier’s body, and they were attached to a towering tree covered in similar vines.
Or rather, those weren’t vines at all—they were branches extending from this strange tree.
“A Treant?” Richard sneered, glancing at the retreating militia mbers. He shouted to Charles, “Charles, Helen, listen to ! If anyone dares to retreat, execute them on the spot!”
“Yes!” The two grasped their long swords, casting a threatening glance at the group.
The militia imdiately halted their retreat, evidently more intimidated by Richard than by the Treant.
Richard observed the Treant’s attributes.
Judging from its attributes, he could handle it on his own. Since he could control the situation, it was an opportunity to give the militia so hands-on experience.
“Everyone, aim at the openings on the tree trunk and fire!”
Following his command, a flurry of arrows was unleashed. The Treant shuddered in pain, its branches spread wide, reaching out across a great distance.
The militia mber who had been ensnared was flung away, crashing through several branches before safely landing outside the Treant’s range.
He had barely escaped with his life.
[Giant Treant: Transford into a Treant due to the influence of blood from a passing supernatural creature, absorbing earth and wood elents from the forest to grow.].
[Level: Beginner!].
[Attack thods: Tentacle-like branches, leaf projectiles!].
[Weaknesses: Vulnerable to fire attacks, mouth exposed to attacks!].
Richard squinted at the surroundings. Due to the Treant’s dominance, no other trees existed within a wide radius—only wild grass grew there.
There was no risk of a fire spreading, so he ordered everyone to use fire arrows to target the creature’s mouth.
Richard himself drew his knight’s sword and moved in to draw its attention, preventing it from using its leaf projectiles against the militia and forcing it to focus its branches on defending against his attacks.
With their coordinated efforts, the Treant finally exhausted its strength, and Richard delivered the killing blow with his sword!
[Congratulations! You have defeated a Treant and obtained its branches, heart, and bark…].
Richard used his sword to prod the Treant’s remains, extinguishing the flas with each stroke.
During the battle, he discovered a newfound skill in controlling fire.
He could both ignite and extinguish flas, giving him more freedom to unleash his full power in the forest.
The militia mbers were thrilled to realize they had helped their lord defeat such a monstrous creature like a Treant.
Despite so of them suffering minor injuries from the leaf projectiles, they were more exhilarated than fearful.
This experience significantly boosted their courage and determination!
