"Mmm,"

The sun had risen and its rays of light entered through the window, shining upon Ember’s face who was sleeping on her bed.

"Ahh,"

With a small moan, the girl slowly turned to her side, because, the heat of the sun was affecting her sleep, and she was a bit uncomfortable.

This, however, didn’t last long and after a few monts, her mind was slowly regaining consciousness, and her body began to move a bit before her eyelids started to open.

"Urg,"

A small groan left her mouth, and the girl’s hand touched her forehead, as it was hurting a bit.

"What... what happened?"

She was a bit confused and wasn’t able to rember what had happened yesterday, or the night before.

’Ah, right, the Dungeon. The monsters. Nell. Where... Where is he?’

Many thoughts ca rushing inside her head, as her mories soon returned, and the girl rembered the events that had taken place.

’Nell...’

Despite being inside her house and on her soft bed, the first thing, the first thought, the first na, that ca to her mind was none other than her husband.

She didn’t notice any change in her surroundings, the softness of the bed, or even the feeling of the light shining upon her.

Nothing.

"I have..."

These two words were barely a whisper, but the emotions she had put in them were not sothing simple, and they were enough for soone to know the girl’s feelings.

It was a kind of emotion, a kind of feeling, that no matter what, was not sothing one could hide or run from.

Love.

However, it wasn’t the only thing she was feeling.

Despair.

Regret.

Pain.

These were so of the other emotions she had inside her heart.

And, if anyone were to look inside her heart, they would see that those emotions were mixed with a bit of madness.

A bit, because they were not as intense as before, but that didn’t an the girl had recovered from her madness to find her husband.

"I have to find him. I have to save him."

Saying that the girl, subconsciously, moved her legs to the side of the bed as if she already knew where she was but didn’t realize it.

Because, it was her brain, yeah, her brain, which had already known it and had accepted it the mont she woke up.

But, it didn’t register it, as her mind was not in the best condition and it was still trying to process everything.

Nevertheless, the girl slowly moved her feet to the floor and placed them on the ground.

It was just then, that her ears caught the sound of the door’s lock being opened, and her head moved a bit as a faint screeching noise was heard.

’Nell, is it Nell? Is he alright?’

The questions entered her mind, and the girl couldn’t stop her heart from beating fast.

She thought that her husband was going to co inside the room and wrap her in his arms.

’He will say he is okay and will comfort . He will hug and tell everything is okay.’

However, the girl was completely wrong.

Because the person who ca inside the room wasn’t the person she wanted it to be.

"Oh. Ember, you are awake?"

The words reached her ears, and the girl’s breath stopped for a mont before her lips parted slightly.

’W-who?’

A frown surfaced on her face, and her eyebrows scrunched before the girl’s mind began to think about who this was.

This voice felt familiar, and in a corner of her mind she could feel like she knew this person, but she couldn’t pinpoint who it was.

Regardless, it didn’t take long for her to figure out who the voice belonged to.

Even if her brain was a ss and wasn’t working properly, still, there was still no way the girl could forget this person’s voice.

"Ma... Marine?"

A slight tremor could be heard in her voice, but she wasn’t surprised, no, instead, her eyes were wide open and she could feel the blood drain from her face.

’No... No way. Was she the one–’

She couldn’t complete her thought as the person whose na she had called, responded.

"Yes, Ember, it’s , Marine."

A sweet smile blood on Marine’s face and she walked toward Ember before placing her hand on her shoulder.

"Don’t worry, Ember. You are safe now."

With that, she sat beside Ember, and then continued, "We are in your ho, and I was taking care of you, because, you were injured."

Marine spoke, and the girl didn’t reply as she didn’t seem pleased with her statent.

Because there was nothing pleasant about the situation, also it was not what she was hoping to hear.

"Nell," A weak voice left Ember’s lips, and a slight pause entered the atmosphere, before she continued, "Where is my husband?"

She asked out the question she was dreading to ask, which caused the smile on the woman’s face beside her to fade.

"Your husband, Ember, he..."

A pause entered Marine’s sentence, and Ember’s heart began to beat fast as she waited for the next words to leave the woman’s mouth.

"We couldn’t find him. We scanned the whole dungeon and couldn’t find any trace of him."

A bit of sadness could be heard in the woman’s voice, but the girl didn’t care about it, and her hand clutched the bed sheet tightly, as she didn’t want to believe the next words.

"Your husband, Nell, is missing."

The woman finished, and a heavy atmosphere descended on the room.

"No. That’s not possible. I... I will go and search for him. I will-"

Ember spoke and was about to stand up, but Marine quickly stopped her and grabbed her wrist.

"You are in no condition to move. You have to rest, and besides, the dungeon has disappeared. You can’t enter it now."

Hearing the woman’s words, Ember’s mind froze, and her body began to tremble a bit.

’Disappeared? The dungeon is not there?’

She didn’t believe it at first but then her husband’s words echoed inside her head which forced her to believe it.

’Dungeons are not permanent and will disappear when they are cleared. But, sotis, dungeons remain open forever even after their completion.’

Those were the words that Nell had told her alongside many other things when they were inside the dungeon, and now, rembering them, a feeling of dread crept inside her heart.

’It... It...’

Her mind was filled with chaos, and the girl couldn’t think straight anymore, because, the possibility that was slowly forming in her mind, was not sothing she could accept.

’Is he... Is he gone?’

With the thought, the girl’s heart trembled, and a sudden realization dawned on her, making her unable to breathe.

anwhile, Marine was staring at her, and she could see how hurt the girl was, but she didn’t know how to comfort her.

So, without knowing what else to do, she grabbed Ember’s hand and placed a small necklace in her palm, then began speaking.

"Here, this was the necklace we found in the pocket of Nell’s shirtpiece while we were searching for him. Take it."

Saying that she let go of Ember’s hand and continued, "Maybe, it’s not much, but I am sure Nell wanted to give this to you and wanted to see your reaction when he did."

Marine finished, and the Ember’s fingers curled around the necklace, before holding it tightly.

’I-it was his present.’

The girl was a bit shocked and wasn’t able to utter a single word, but she didn’t waste any ti and imdiately wore the necklace.

After all, it was sothing her husband had intended to gift her.

Moreover, a strange feeling suddenly surged inside her heart, and Ember felt that wearing this necklace made her feel connected to her husband.

She wasn’t sure, but, it was as if the man was close to her and was with her at the mont.

Nevertheless, she didn’t get to enjoy the necklace as her attention was soon focused on sothing else.

Sothing much more important to her.

"Marine,"

Ember called out the woman’s na and, in response, a soft ’yes’ was heard.

"Do you know the place where the new Heroes get registered?"

Hearing her words, Marine’s eyebrows raised, and she looked at the girl with a baffled expression, because, the request was not sothing she expected to be heard so soon.

But, she didn’t question her, because, it was all in one of the things Nellas had told her to do.

"Yeah, I know it."

Upon getting the answer she wanted to have, Ember, without hesitation, said her next words, "Then, can you take there?"

"Huh, right now? But why?"

Marine was a bit confused, but seeing the serious expression on the girl’s face, she didn’t deny her request and replied, "If you can move, then I don’t see why not."
