Chapter 551: Chapter 93 Wu Wang City, eting the Goddess

The Underworld, Wu Wang City.

Ao Heng spat out a mouthful of fresh blood, his dragon body covered in wounds, flesh and blood in disrepair, riddled with various poisons, curses, and other sinister ans.

Many of the Demon Sect’s techniques are still in use by cultivators today, having only undergone so transformation from training through killing to other thods.

For example, refining evil qi; the cheapest and most direct way is murder, the most expensive is extracting natural Earth Evil.

The Daoist Sect dominates the world, naturally having the resources to use the latter, regulating Daoist skills to restrict common cultivators from obtaining it.

This ensures that when enemies escape, their severe injuries can cause lasting harm, even if they don’t die; permanent disability can weaken their threat.

Ao Heng bit down on his dragon tooth, forcing out the fragnts of magic artifacts from his flesh, then using a secret technique to heal his flesh, regenerate his scales, and in an instant the surface wounds were healed.

However, black qi still pervaded his flesh and scales.

“The Daoist skills of the Human Race, imitating the myriad forms of nature, are truly diverse. If not for the body of a True Dragon, I wouldn’t have lived long even if I escaped.”

He exhaled a mouthful of dull energy, examined his wounds again, and only after confirming there was no serious injury did he begin to survey his surroundings.

Looking around, everything was shrouded in a gray mist; his divine thought couldn’t extend outside his body, nor could his physical form grasp anything.

It was as if he had beco a ghost.

“Is this the underworld?”

Ao Heng was sowhat uncertain; he had long discovered he could escape into the underworld using his divine skills.

But out of caution, he dared not enter the underworld rashly; Ao Heng had never even borrowed the power of his Dao Fruit.

Because such power was at his fingertips, it made him all the more wary.

Suddenly, in the gray mist, a ray of Buddha light shone, followed by the approach of a female Bodhisattva dressed in light gauze.

A Bodhisattva with a thousand faces, displaying inexhaustible beauty and hideousness, and upon closer inspection, her face was formless.

“Amitabha, the Ghost Emperor should return to his place; please follow to Wu Wang City.”

“Who are you?”

Ao Heng transford into his human form, his handso face full of vigilance.

The female Buddha clasped her hands and said: “I was originally the Buddha Ancestor’s female form, but with the collapse of the Buddhist path, I sought refuge in the underworld, now being Ksitigarbha.”

Ksitigarbha, one of the three supre beings of the underworld.

The other two are Fengdu Emperor, and East Mountain Emperor.

Below them are the Five-side Ghost Emperors, the Ten Halls Yama, and the Six Case rit.

“By rights, you should be counted under my command.”

Upon hearing this, Ao Heng feigned respect, cupping his fists and bowing deeply: “Greetings, Venerate.”

One must bow their head when under the eaves.

Moreover, the self-proclaid female form of the Buddha Ancestor was no simple identity, likely starting as a great figure on par with the Devil Ancestor and Immortals.

“No need for such formalities, I am not fond of these. Co with .”

Ksitigarbha turned around, and Ao Heng followed. The surrounding gray mist began to rapidly recede, their steps spanning countless miles.

After a hundred steps, a towering black wall appeared before them, and a city ca into view.

Called a city, it was actually a continuous expanse of temples, stretching endlessly like a mountain range, with no visible end, and within the city, no distinction between up, down, left, or right, many temples stacked upon each other like paper.

Chaotic, disordered.

In his Qi Sea, the Dao Fruit trembled, thoughts stirred, and he instinctively grasped the laws of this world.

The underworld, the land where souls return, flesh is illusory, the soul is real.

Here, the soul is the body, and the body is as lowly as clay.

At the center of this world was Wu Wang City, the forr residence of the Earth Official, and the place of reincarnation.

Ksitigarbha introduced: “This is Wu Wang City, the only place in Heaven and Earth where all beings can achieve eternal life. Even a mortal can live for millions of years here.”

Eternal life?

Ao Heng’s pupils contracted, his face filled with doubt.

The pursuit of immortality was not exclusive to the Human Race; the Dragon Clan lived long, but even they weren’t immortal. Moreover, they often slept for long periods, akin to cultivators’ ditation and practice.

To beco Immortals was to seek immortality.

For thousands of years, countless heroes had sought these four words: immortality. Now it could be obtained with ease here?

This was impossible!

Ao Heng felt a stifling sensation in his chest, and his Dao heart wavered imperceptibly.

He had yet to transcend, but he couldn’t accept that the immortality he sought was so easily attained. What, then, was the point of his lifelong pursuit?

“Do not be discouraged; beneath transcendence, all beings are but the remnants of saints. The level of Daoist skill achieved by sentient beings has long been predetermined.”

The female Buddha, seeming to understand the human heart, gazed at him with her formless face, revealing a glimpse of Buddha eyes.

His vigilant heart lted away in silence, and like an earnest believer, he asked: “May I ask, Buddha Ancestor, is becoming an immortal also predetermined?”

The female Buddha shook her head: “Heaven and Earth’s extremity is nine; even a saint cannot achieve perfection. Among beings, there is a slim chance of transcendence. But saints are not dead objects; Heaven and Earth Two Saints allow so to beco immortals to limit the successors.”

“Like the Human Race’s Thirty-Six Immortal Skills, and the Devil Clan’s singular Devil Ancestor.”

Ao Heng asked: “Why? Is transcendence harmful to Heaven and Earth?”

“Transcendence inevitably permanently separates a portion of spiritual energy from Heaven and Earth. If the number of transcended beings continues to increase, it will eventually lead to a ti of the end of laws.”

The female Buddha then shifted her tone: “But why take this hypothetical seriously? If you are a saint, so be it; if not, why follow it?”

“…”

Can this even be said?

Ao Heng broke into a sweat. They were under the rule of the Earth Saint.

And now in the underworld, how could this Buddha dare to openly criticize?

“Do not worry; saints are formless and won’t be angered by this.”

The female Buddha, her heart transparent like glass, continued walking ahead, cautioning Ao Heng about various taboos.
