Chapter 382: Chapter 382 : The Revelation

There was a ti when water in the kettle boiled faster than it should be, and it was when people least expected it.

The two steaming tea cups on the table between them failed to dull the sharp stare that Zhang Fengxi gave Qiao Wei, making it harder for the latter to open up.

But of course, Zhang Fengxi was too insensible to notice it.

"Well?"

"Uh, that’s..."

The knot at Qiao Wei’s throat bobbed up and down nervously.

"Sir Zhang... Zhang Fengxi," he quickly corrected himself when one of Zhang Fengxi’s brows arched upward in response. "Have you ever co across another person repeatedly?"

"..."

"No, I expressed myself poorly. What I ant was..."

Qiao Wei opened and closed his mouth several tis in an attempt to explain, but in the end, he couldn’t say anything.

Zhang Fengxi pushed a tea cup toward Qiao Wei.

"Just be upfront, no need to use taphors."

Qiao Wei pulled his lips into a thin line.

"I’ve t you before," he said in a helpless tone. "Several tis."

Zhang Fengxi leaned his head against his palm and furrowed his brows at Qiao Wei.

"When?"

Qiao Wei took a deep breath.

"The first ti we t, I was a droplet of water that fell down the sky."

"..."

Zhang Fengxi’s mouth dropped open slightly.

"The second ti we t, I was a wildflower that grew at the edge of a mountain cliff. You held

to your chest as I slowly wilted away."

"..."

"The third ti we t, I was a tree that grew in a village. I died when the villagers cut

down, and you were there to hold

as I slowly perished."

Once he started, Qiao Wei was unable to stop.

He was not the only one who rembered the many tis they t.

Zhang Fengxi also rembered. The more Qiao Wei talked, the quicker his heartbeat.

"The ninth ti we t..."

Qiao Wei lowered his gaze.

"I was a sheep who got lost and died from dehydration."

Qiao Wei slowly raised his eyes to look at Zhang Fengxi.

"I am sorry, you must have thought that it’s very silly..."

Before he managed to finish his sentence, the table between them tumbled toward the wall before Zhang Fengxi’s brutal shove.

The supre general lunged at Qiao Wei without warning.

With one forceful pull, he dragged the petrified Qiao Wei into a tight embrace.

Qiao Wei’s lips parted in surprise when he was unexpectedly suffocated against Zhang Fengxi’s sturdy chest.

"Sorry," Zhang Fengxi said in a hoarse voice. "Can you please hold still?"

The alpha held a palm upward and called upon the golden lotus flower that harbored traces of Xie Jianyu’s presence again.

The lotus flower barely took form before it suddenly shone with a bright blue color, indicating that Xie Jianyu’s soul resided within Qiao Wei’s body.

Zhang Fengxi’s chest heaved, each breath a ragged sob against the stillness that hung in the air. Tears, like two streams of rivulets, carved their way down his weathered face. In his trembling arms, Qiao Wei stirred.

"Zhang Fengxi, are you crying...?" He asked in bewildernt.

"No," Zhang Fengxi choked out. "I am not. Just... Let

be like this, just for a while longer."

It’s Jianbao.

His Jianbao.

He had finally found his wife’s lost soul.

It turned out that he was around him the entire ti.

Zhang Fengxi breathed heavily against Qiao Wei’s nape. He moved his hand toward the back of Qiao Wei’s head, locking him in place as he bared his teeth, ready to take a bite and mark Qiao Wei.

But then, like a spectral hand reaching from the mist, the Goddess’s warning snagged at his conscience, pulling him back from the brink.

"I hope you did not do anything else to ddle with fate. You know that it will only prolong his return to the Heavenly Realm."

Zhang Fengxi gritted his teeth in fury.

When he finally let go of Qiao Wei, his eyes were red from suppressed emotions, but otherwise, he looked a lot like his usual, gloomy self.

"Are you alright?" Qiao Wei inquired.

"Hm? Yeah. I am good. Everything is great."

Zhang Fengxi pressed both hands against his face and sighed heavily.

He could not interfere in Qiao Wei’s life.

He should continue watching him from afar, making sure that he did not suffer, and await his return to Xie Jianyu’s body.

Qiao Wei was perplexed by Zhang Fengxi’s reaction, but at least the latter did not think that he was a lunatic, and that was a relief.

A series of knocks at the front door broke the silence that hung in the air, causing both n to turn their heads toward the entrance.

Qiao Wei moved to open the door for the guest.

It turned out to be a young woman with a sweet face, a peach-colored dress, and a bubbly personality. As soon as Qiao Wei erged from beyond the door, the young woman lit up and threw herself at his neck.

"Wei Wei!" She cried out with a spoiled voice. "Wei Wei, I miss you so much!"

The mont Qiao Wei put his arms around Bai Ling, he felt an indescribable surge of murder intent emanating behind him.

He turned around, with Bai Ling still holding onto him tightly.

Zhang Fengxi was smiling at them, but his smile seed to be colder than the harshest winter that blew on top of Mount Wu.

Qiao Wei broke into a hesitant smile as he draped an arm around Bai Ling’s waist and said, "Zhang Fengxi, et my betrothed, Bai Ling."

"Little Ling, this is my new friend, Zhang Fengxi."

Malice flashed across Zhang Fengxi’s eyes when he heard Qiao Wei’s description of himself.

Friend, eh, friend???

And what’s with this betrothed?

His wife went into a stranger’s body by accident, and he just had to start his life with a betrothed by his side.

If fate ever manifested itself into a solid form, Zhang Fengxi would et it head-on and beat it up to a pulp.
