Chapter 328: Chapter 328 : The Final Battle (6)

"Big Brother!!!"

Xie Jianyu rushed into the cloud of smoke to rescue Xie Jianshen, but Head Servant Zhou held him back.

"Master, don’t," he said with an urgent voice. "Master, it is dangerous!"

"Let

go!" Xie Jianyu snapped at his subordinate. "Now!"

Head Servant Zhou never defied Xie Jianyu before, but this ti he held his ground.

"No, Master," he said firmly. "This servant must offend Master this one ti. I am willing to accept any kind of punishnt later."

"You...!"

Xie Jianyu strained against Head Servant Zhou’s iron grip to no avail. Just as despair threatened to engulf him, a voice cut through the oppressive silence and made his heart skip a beat.

"Little Yu, I am fine. There is no need to ruffle your scales for my sake." As the billowing cloud of smoke dissipated, Xie Jianshen erged, unscathed amidst the swirling remnants.

"Big Brother...!"

Head Servant Zhou released his master on the spot. Pale from fright, Xie Jianyu launched at Xie Jianshen.

He grabbed the elder oga by the shoulders and examined him from top to toe. Despite the explosion, he saw no injuries on Xie Jianshen. No single scratch marred his elder brother’s pristine form.

Xie Jianyu’s eyes darted past Xie Jianshen, his gaze landing on the spot where Liu Wenyuan lay re monts ago. The grass there was now stained crimson, and Liu Wenyuan was nowhere to be found.

"Big Brother, what did you do? Why was Liu Wenyuan here?"

Xie Jianshen was practically the embodint of innocence when he turned to look at Xie Jianyu. He casually smoothened the crease on his sleeves and said, "Oh, was it him? I did not notice. I was just getting rid of several wild animals who dared to intrude into Fuxi Palace."

As he spoke, he kicked at the bloody carcass of Liu Wenyuan’s spirit companion. With a smug smile on his lips, he then turned to Head Servant Zhou and gave him an order.

"Head Servant Zhou, do get rid of these dirty animals. I want the courtyard to be spick and span before the first rays of dawn illuminate the palace rooftop."

"Yes, Lord Xie," Head Servant Zhou answered with a deep bow.

Xie Jianshen then took his younger brother by his elbow and dragged him back into the palace.

An unsettling feeling lingered in Xie Jianyu’s heart as he turned his head again and again to look at the grotesque scene that played in his palace’s front courtyard a while ago.

"Brother, what did you do to Liu Wenyuan?" Xie Jianyu asked again once he was back on his bed.

"Nothing that he does not deserve," Xie Jianshen’s tone was cold, devoid of any emotion.

Xie Jianyu clawed into his bedsheet, his brows knitted together in distress.

"You are not supposed to act on your own," he said, spoken like a true Crown Prince. The future ruler of the Heavenly Empire held himself to the highest standards, his words carrying the weight of his unyielding commitnt to upholding the law.

Xie Jianshen detested the cumberso titles that accompanied his lofty status. They were, in his eyes, not badges of honor but shackles that impeded his freedom of action.

Unlike most ogas who relished the prestige and power associated with their titles, Xie Jianshen saw them as unnecessary encumbrances that hindered his pursuit of justice.

"Spare

the lecture, Your Majesty," Xie Jianshen said with a haughty smile, his words dripping with sarcasm. "Our father was killed and this vile, little oga ca here to harm my little brother. I am not going to wait until you ascend the throne before I make him pay for his atrocious deeds."

Xie Jianyu’s eyelashes fluttered in distress as he pressed his lips together in indignation.

"I am sorry," he said. "Because of , you chose to dirty your hands."

Within the vast expanse of the realm, only Xie Jianyu possessed the power to lt away Xie Jianshen’s hardened exterior.

With arms outstretched, Xie Jianshen enveloped Xie Jianyu in an embrace reminiscent of the tender monts they shared when Xie Jianyu was but a defenseless child.

"Little Yu, I will always be there to protect you," he said. "You know that, right?"

Xie Jianyu put his arms around his elder brother’s warm body and humd in acknowledgnt.

The tender embrace between the brothers was abruptly shattered as a searing pain lanced through Xie Jianyu’s body, causing him to stiffen in Xie Jianshen’s arms.

"Little Yu?"

The abrupt change did not escape Xie Jianshen’s keen observation.

"What happened?"

Xie Jianyu, his face etched with pain and exertion, clung desperately to Xie Jianshen’s arms. His breathing, just a while ago calm and steady, had beco ragged and labored, each gasp punctuated by a sharp, involuntary cry of pain.

Through a veil of tears that blurred his vision, Xie Jianyu raised his eyes to et Xie Jianshen’s gaze.

"I... I think that the babies are coming soon."

When the first contraction hit him, he tossed out a cry of pain, a visceral, primal sound that echoed through the hushed stillness of the night.

anwhile, in the echoing silence of an empty chamber within Wuyang Palace, two figures crashed onto the cold marble floor with a resounding thud.

One of these figures was Liu Wenyuan, his body battered and bruised, his breath coming in ragged gasps as he lay sprawled on the hard surface. The other one was the Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer, the one who saved him by conjuring a portal to connect the two palaces.

"T-Thank you," Liu Wenyuan stuttered. "Thank you. Heavens. That crazy oga!" Gritting his teeth angrily, Liu Wenyuan slamd a fist against the stone floor beneath his body.

The Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer’s gaze fell upon Liu Wenyuan, her eyes widening in a mix of shock and fright. The oga’s face bore the grueso markings of ghastly slash wounds, their jagged edges etched into his pale skin like the cruel strokes of a madman’s brush.

His elbow and thigh were twisted at unnatural angles, the bones protruding like broken branches beneath the torn flesh.

Liu Wenyuan let out an anguished cry of pain when he recalled the ugly slashes on his face.

"Help ," he begged under tears. "My face. Help save my face!"

The Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer looked disgusted by Liu Wenyuan’s appearance, but she eventually moved to help. But when she tried to move Liu Wenyuan to a sitting position, the latter let out a blood-curdling scream.

"What’s wrong?"

Liu Wenyuan kept screaming like a tortured prisoner, so the Three-Eyed Realm Wanderer stopped trying to move him around. After murmuring a spell, she conjured an orb of fla that hung in the air, suspended by nothing. It floated close to Liu Wenyuan in a graceful arc, allowing her to inspect her ally’s battered form.

A horrified gasp escaped her lips when she saw a weapon’s hilt protruding from Liu Wenyuan’s waist, its blade buried deep within the oga’s flesh.
