Chapter 298: Chapter 298 : Physician Han’s Prediction

Physician Han ca to examine the progress of Xie Jianyu’s pregnancy every week, but today was special.

Once the pregnancy completed its fifth month, it was customary for expecting mothers and fathers -- or in this case expecting mother-in-law -- to demand an early prediction for the baby’s gender.

Although there was no guarantee for the baby’s gender, the more experienced physicians could usually make accurate predictions based on various factors, such as the shape of the pregnant belly and the baby’s heartbeat.

Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi had conceived a son in their previous life, but this ti around the baby was arriving two years earlier than expected. Understandably, the expecting parents were sowhat nervous about the upcoming prediction.

Zhang Fengxi took off Xie Jianyu’s outer robe and helped his wife to lie on the bed.

"Excuse , Your Majesty," the elder physician said.

Xie Jianyu gave a subtle nod of approval.

Physician Han placed his hands on Xie Jianyu’s distended belly. He ran them gently over his skin, feeling for the baby’s position and shape. He listened carefully to the baby’s heartbeat, noting its rhythm and strength.

Sitting next to him, Lady Song was practically a bundle of nerves. Every ti the physician withdrew his hands, the lady opened her mouth to ask. But then Physician Han continued his examination, and the lady was forced to wait patiently.

After a prolonged examination, even Zhang Fengxi beca frustrated.

He disliked having anyone touch Xie Jianyu’s body, even though there was a thin layer of inner robe to prevent direct skin contact.

"Physician Han, what is it? Just tell us, no need to repeat the examination from the top."

Physician Han laughed nervously.

"Your Highness, please be patient. I need to make sure one more ti."

"Fengxi!" Lady Song hissed behind the physician’s back, only to hover around the elder man and watch his every move like a hunting hawk eagle.

Despite the accumulating pressure from both Zhang Fengxi and Lady Song, Physician Han insisted on conducting the examination with utmost care and precision. After coming to the sa conclusion for the third ti, he bowed deeply before the Xie Jianyu and said, "Congratulations, Your Majesty! Congratulations, Your Highness! Your Majesty is expecting two very healthy princes."

"..."

"..."

"OH HEAVENS! WHAT A BLESSING! I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!"

Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi were rooted to the spot, their faces frozen in shock. They couldn’t believe what they had just heard.

Lady Song, Xie Jianyu’s mother-in-law, erupted in a frenzy of screams and tears. She threw her arms around Xie Jianyu and hugged him tightly.

"Little Xie, you are such a lucky star! I love you, I love you!"

Once she was done with her son-in-law, Lady Song turned her attention to Zhang Fengxi, who was still sitting at the edge of the bed with his lips slightly parted.

"You stupid son!" Lady Song snapped suddenly.

"..."

Zhang Fengxi slowly turned to gape at his mother. He failed to comprehend the magnitude of his stupidity this ti around.

"Your poor performance in bed robs your parents of their sleep at night! But I am so glad, Fengxi, sob, sob, you finally did it. You are such a good son, sob, sob..."

Sobbing uncontrollably, Lady Song launched a flurry of punches at Zhang Fengxi’s chest. The alpha gingerly put his arms around his mother and held her close.

"Don’t cry, Mother," he said. "It’s... It’s all good now."

"What do you know???"

Lady Song lifted her head and glared at her son. He flinched under her gaze.

Physician Han, who had been sitting quietly in the corner, literally jumped from his seat when the old woman addressed him.

"Physician Han!" She cried out. "Now that my Little Xie is pregnant with twins, we need to redesign his daily als and nutrition plan! Let’s teach the palace chefs how to care for his special needs!"

Lady Song grabbed Physician Han’s arm and dragged him out of the room like a whirlwind. The expecting parents, Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi, were left behind to rejoice privately.

Two babies.

Thinking back, I should have known, Xie Jianyu thought to himself.

The Star of Unblemished Virtue did not have the chance to see the world in their past life. This ti, they managed to conceive both the star incarnation and the son they lost.

"Haha... Hahahaha..."

Zhang Fengxi was sitting on the edge of the bed with his back facing Xie Jianyu. The oga could see his shoulders shaking as he laughed.

"... Fengxi, what is happening to you?"

Xie Jianyu wanted to approach his husband, but Zhang Fengxi went ahead of him. The alpha turned around and pulled his wife into a tight hug.

Xie Jianyu lted into his husband’s embrace, feeling the warmth of his body and the strength of his arms. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, inhaling the pheromones that emanated from Zhang Fengxi’s body.

Zhang Fengxi held him close, his chin resting on the top of Xie Jianyu’s head.

"Baby, I am so stupid," he said with a trembling voice. "I should have realized that a lot of things change this ti around. Life and death are yet to be determined, but I trusted Birth Readings blindly. I almost killed our precious, innocent children. Jianbao, I am so sorry."

He then lowered his head and pressed his face into Xie Jianyu’s swollen stomach.

"My babies, I am so sorry. Forgive your father. Let

make it up to you for the rest of my life."

Xie Jianyu slid his fingers into Zhang Fengxi’s hair and gently massaged his scalp.

Fengxi, you are wrong, he whispered in his heart. My death has already been written in the stars before we both go back in ti.

But if we can spend the remaining few months blissfully together, why would I take away such joy from you?

Xie Jianyu swallowed the tears welling up in his eyes and nodded.

"Yes," he croaked, his voice ragged with emotion. "I would love that."

Zhang Fengxi raised his head and captured Xie Jianyu’s jaw. He ran his thumb across Xie Jianyu’s luscious lips and gazed at Xie Jianyu’s bewitching eyes.

The alpha whispered, "I am not going to ask anymore."

He leaned in and captured Xie Jianyu’s lips in a fiery, all-consuming kiss. Their tongues danced passionately, and their bodies lted together as they lost themselves in the mont.
