Chapter 159: Chapter 159 : The Bird’s Judgnt (2)

The bird blinked at Zhang Fengxi once and then, as if it heard nothing interesting, continued preening its feathers.

Xie Jianyu shot a furious glare at Zhang Fengxi, who broke into a chuckle.

"I told you that the bird is broken," he said, as if he just successfully proved a point.

Xie Jianyu harrumphed in distaste.

"Obviously, because the one you love is Liu Wenyuan."

The last word barely left Xie Jianyu’s lips when the bird jumped frantically on the table and cried out in protest.

"SQUEEE!!!! SQUEEEE!!!"

"..."

"..."

Both Xie Jianyu and Zhang Fengxi widened their eyes at the bird.

"Shshshsh yes, yes, I get it. Calm down. Ouch!"

The bird began pecking at Zhang Fengxi in a fit of fury. Zhang Fengxi hissed from pain. Within a few hours, the bird had had the pleasure of attacking him aplenty.

"Ouch, ouch, ouchhhh! Xie Jianyu, do sothing!!!"

Xie Jianyu pulled the bird away from Zhang Fengxi. The bird squeaked noisily, but then it rubbed its head against Xie Jianyu’s palm, like a child expecting praises. Xie Jianyu petted him nonetheless.

"I guess we can say that it passed the test. It just responds to truths, not lies."

"No," Zhang Fengxi slowly said. "It responds to lies."

Xie Jianyu furrowed his brows at Zhang Fengxi.

"... What do you an?"

Zhang Fengxi did not expect to tell the truth about Liu Wenyuan to Xie Jianyu this early, but oh well. Xie Jianyu was going to know sooner or later.

"I am breaking up with Liu Wenyuan for good. I need this bird to help

prove a lie."

"... Is this about Liu Wenyuan’s pregnancy?"

Zhang Fengxi raised an eyebrow at Xie Jianyu. "So you have heard."

Xie Jianyu gave a brief nod.

"I heard that he was released from the Golden Dragon Palace’s prison because he was found to be pregnant."

Zhang Fengxi smiled.

"Your brother must be quite disappointed," he remarked. After getting to know Xie Jianyu for so ti, Zhang Fengxi realized one thing. Xie Jianyu was not the type to actively lift a hand and cause doom to his personal enemies.

The one who swung the blade had always been either his father or his elder brother.

Xie Jianshen disliked Liu Wenyuan from the mont Liu Wenyuan’s spiritual companion attacked Xie Jianyu. And for a good reason too, it turned out.

Oh, how scarily instinctive ogas could be...

"What about you? Are you not relieved?" Xie Jianyu asked in return. But then his face darkened when he continued, "Don’t tell

that you are dumping him because he’s carrying your child out of wedlock."

Zhang Fengxi scoffed.

"Xie Jianyu, I am not that kind of person. Also, it isn’t my child."

"How are you so sure?"

"I have never slept with him. How did this child co to be?" Zhang Fengxi said in retaliation, answering the Crown Prince’s Question with another question.

"I don’t know," Xie Jianyu said after a while.

The conversation topic made him uncomfortable.

"Anyway, if you have nothing else to test the bird with, you should go. It is ti for my afternoon sword practice."

Both of them rose to their feet at the sa ti. Zhang Fengxi grabbed Xie Jianyu’s wrist and prevented him from leaving.

"Xie Jianyu, I do not lie. You know that, right?"

"It is none of my concern," Xie Jianyu said ekly.

Zhang Fengxi ignored his words and continued.

"I already submitted a formal letter to Wuyang Palace to end my engagent to their prince. Liu Yichen will surely drag

to court based on the lie that Liu Wenyuan spread about . Will you bring this bird to the court and support ?"

The bird was supposed to be Zhang Fengxi’s most loyal ally, but its inexplicable antipathy to the alpha so far made it appear as his bitterest foe.

Xie Jianyu withdrew his hand from Zhang Fengxi’s grip.

"If I bring the bird to the court, then it is to unmask the truth. The rest is between you and Liu Wenyuan. I do not wish to interfere."

That was good enough for Zhang Fengxi.

"Thanks, Xie Jianyu. I will inform you about the date and ti of the court summon."

"Mmm."

Zhang Fengxi excused himself, and Xie Jianyu was left alone with the bird.

He stroked the bird’s head and back because it kept asking to be pampered.

"Zhang Fengxi does not love ," Xie Jianyu whispered to the bird. "You were wrong about that."

The bird disagreed. It flapped its wings aggressively and squealed loudly.

"You are wrong about that one," Xie Jianyu insisted. "But otherwise, you did a very good job."

"Squeeee!!! Squeeeee!!!"

Zhang Fengxi’s prediction was on the mark. Liu Yichen demanded an audience with the Heavenly Emperor as soon as he received the formal letter from Longjing Palace.

"Your Majesty, this is unheard of!" so the Wuyang Palace Master lanted. "Prince Zhang Fengxi refused to honor my oga son, Liu Wenyuan, and grant the child in his womb a rightful status! I demand justice!"

By the ti Zhang Fengxi received the imperial edict for the court summon, he was more than ready.

The group from Longjing Palace arrived at the court hall almost at the sa ti as the group from Wuyang Palace.

Liu Yichen gritted his teeth as he raised a trembling finger at Zhang Fengxi.

"Young man! You have deeply, deeply disappointed ! To think that I, this foolish old man, allowed you to hurt my darling son so!"

Zhang Zhiyuan shot his fellow palace master a look.

"Wuyang Palace Master, please maintain your dignity. Let the children fight it all among themselves. We are here just to straighten their backs!"

Liu Yichen let out a booming laughter.

"Very good!" He cried out full of indignation. "Father and son are both the sa! And I thought that the Longjing Palace was known for its righteous path!"

Zhang Fengxi did not bother partaking in the insult exchange. His palms were drenched in cold sweat. Where was Xie Jianyu? Where was that bird of his?

And then, to his greatest relief, Head Eunuch Gao announced Xie Jianyu’s arrival.

"His Majesty, the Crown Prince has arrived!"
