Xu Shu had wanted to conduct an experint today to see if he could enhance the quality of the Fate Pool he would receive at the entrance to the safe zone.

Just like yesterday, getting a pool full of Purple Fate Charts—that feeling was simply perfect.

So, at the beginning of the map selection process, he was quite casual and not too particular about it.

According to the rules, after randomizing the world coordinates, the next steps were to choose a "birthplace" followed by a "character na," which is the usual procedure for a second-draw legendary account.

This ti, the world coordinates Xu Shu randomly selected were known as "Abyss Solo."

Strictly speaking, these legendary coordinates had sowhat pleasantly surprised Xu Shu and satisfied him.

Legendary coordinates do not just relate to the background story of the Tai Chu Scroll’s construction or stitching; they also greatly affect the achievents one could attain.

For example, so legends, like those of "Xiangjiang Bygone Days," would have a very limited scope upon reading the title, and the outco could be easily anticipated.

This ti, "Abyss Solo" allowed Xu Shu, a genius at conjuring up stories, to imagine scenarios like a "lone super-soldier fighting at the forefront of humanity in the Abyss."

If that were the case, the difficulty level of maneuvering the narrative would be much lower, potentially resulting in being born into a Transcendent family, making high-level gaplay more achievable.

However, what was more important was to observe the quality of the Fate Pool.

So, Xu Shu was rather impatient. When the "birthplace" options appeared, there were four strange nas: "Salem Land," "Golden Cave," "Mad Mountain Range," and "Roaring River."

Xu Shu felt a certain uncomfortable aversion when looking at these four nas, which just seed a bit off.

Especially with the A and C phenona, they even felt sowhat familiar to him, but he couldn’t quite place them.

Sothing seed wrong, and he decided those wouldn’t do.

Therefore, he quickly chose the very sunny and positive-sounding "Golden Cave" as his birthplace.

Just by the na, one could tell it was a place dripping with wealth—a blessed land indeed.

Great place, that’ll be it.

Having chosen his starting birthplace, it was now ti to select the identity of the character he would play.

Xu Shu knew that character identities were drawn based on the birthplace, and he was presented with four options.

Yet, these character nas were odd as well.

They were "Luther," "Gou Daiying," "Qi Kexiu," and "Alaya."

Xu Shu found them headache-inducing to look at.

Outside, a na is just a na, a code with little influence; but in the legends, nas often have hidden effects to a significant degree.

Luther—was that a play on words gone wrong? Definitely not the right choice.

Gou Daiying? That’d be mocking as "dogged" within minutes. Unlucky, so that’s not an option either.

Qi Kexiu—it seed like a person’s na, but the more he said it, the more it sounded like a curse. Also not a good option.

That left only Alaya, which Xu Shu knew a little about—it seed like a religious term, though he had forgotten the specifics.

These nas were neither here nor there, all tasting strange to an extre degree.

But in comparison to the others, the last one had a touch of the mysterious.

Since the aim of this ti was mainly to test the quality of the Fate Pool, Xu Shu didn’t hesitate for too long and ultimately selected the relatively preferable na, "Alaya."

It looked a bit mysterious at first glance, yet down-to-earth as a person’s na, similar to many others like Alibaba, A Fan Ti, Aguda, Ah Man, Ah Dou, or even A Jiao—invoking a familiar and warm feeling when called out.

After choosing the na, it was ti for the exciting and tense process of drawing from the Fate Pool.

"Your birthplace: Golden Cave, confirmation complete!"

"Your identity: Alaya, confirmation complete!"

"Temporal backtrack loading... loading complete."

"Generating your Fate Chart..."

"You have used 2 Tai Chu Scroll activations and can carry 2 random Fate Charts to bestow upon your legendary identity."

"Please pick up two Fate Charts within five breaths; any uncollected charts after ti runs out will be randomly supplented by the Tai Chu Scroll."

"If I get another Purple Fate Chart, wouldn’t that be..."

Xu Shu felt so anticipation.

Then, as a small fish blurred before his eyes, it zood past with lightning speed.

Whoosh, it was gone.

What color was it?

It seed to be... black?

Xu Shu rubbed his eyes, thinking he had seen wrongly.

But on second thought, he was already at Second Rank—how could he be seeing things wrong?

It really was black, representing the highest quality of "Taboo Level" black!

When had he last seen a black fish? That was during his first legendary initiation, betting all on one go and entering the Ancient Martial Dynasty!

After a month, Xu Shu had once again seen a black Fate Chart.

And in a second-draw legend, no less.

How could this be possible?

According to the rules, wasn’t there only a very slim chance of seeing a Taboo Fate Chart in a third-draw legend?

And the greatest in a second-draw legend’s pool, according to the rules, should only be purple!

Wait, hold on, what rules? These rules were his own deductions, not sothing explicitly written by the Tai Chu Scroll.

In other words, he had gotten it wrong.

Most of the ti, the best Fate Charts were only purple, leading to his incorrect assumption.

But black had appeared!

Xu Shu looked back.

Sadly, just like last ti, this black fish was exceedingly cunning, almost sentient; it dashed ahead, knocking other Fate Charts onto itself, and by now, it had already escaped to who knows where.

Damn, he had missed it!

Xu Shu wasn’t discouraged, though.

If black Fate Charts had appeared, then wouldn’t red and gold ones be easily within reach?

He turned and plunged into the oncoming river of Fate Charts.
