"Red Moon, curfew, the eerie lantern carrier... No wonder this ruins have those spine-chilling rules, indeed sothing is amiss."
Xu Shu glanced at the lantern carrier, realizing he was also being watched.
Because of the distance, Xu Shu could not imdiately ascertain the level of this clearly abnormal lantern carrier; he only knew that it seed off, shrouded in a black robe, with arms like withered wood extending from the sleeves.
However, perhaps because he hadn’t broken the "don’t go outside after midnight" rule, the lantern carrier rely glanced at Xu Shu without taking any further action.
Seeing this, Xu Shu naturally didn’t want to stir up trouble.
He looked around, suddenly stunned for a mont.
Because all the windows of the nearby buildings were shut off from light, it seed as though nobody lived there.
But under Xu Shu’s astonishing eyesight, he discovered that behind each seemingly vacant window, there were one or more pairs of red eyes lighting up.
There stood indistinct human-shaped shadows behind, as if soone were crouched at the window, quietly peeking out.
There were many of these figures; Xu Shu glanced briefly and found at least several hundred around this area.
Everyone, stealthily, had their gaze fixed on him, quietly observing.
Silently,
Watching...
"Hmm?"
Oh no, coming for ?
Xu Shu raised his eyebrows, feeling inexplicably tense.
Could it be that everyone in this small town is fake?
All are deceitful monsters with human skins?
Thinking about it, Xu Shu naturally didn’t want to beco the target of all; he imdiately prepared to draw the curtains.
First obstruct these creepy things’ view, then talk.
Just then, a rather rough and sowhat familiar curse suddenly echoed from the street below.
"Damn! What the hell is wrong with the town today?
"Summoned us here from afar to find people, and in the blink of an eye, everyone vanished without a trace?
"Where did those little punks go!"
The curses moved closer and further away, and a group of about a dozen people erged from the nearby theater.
Xu Shu fixed his eyes on them.
What a coincidence!
The leader was a burly man in a suit, with a square face, whom he recognized.
It was that warden subordinate whose team captain was nad Zu Wandai, whom he t earlier outside Wulaozhuang.
"As expected, those in reality at Wulaozhuang will be enveloped within the ruins, but they seem still unaware of what transpired here..."
"Strange, did the ordinary residents originally turn into red-eyed monsters?"
"Why are they affected and mutate, while people like Zu Wandai aren’t?"
"Can one avoid it with Transcendent training?"
Within a few quick thoughts elapsed for Xu Shu, the street abruptly transford.
Zu Wandai led his n, walking up the street and observing around.
They naturally saw the only person on the empty street, which was the hunched, black-robed lantern security personnel.
At this mont, everyone else vanished; only one pavilion was particularly conspicuous, standing above the rest.
Boldly, in such bizarre and sinister environnt, they imdiately took their group and surrounded the lantern carrier’s pavilion, aggressively.
Zu Wandai spoke brusquely: "Who are you? I am the captain of the seventh squad of the garrison, Zu Wanren... cough ah!"
His words were only halfway when suddenly from his throat emitted a horrifying cry of "hoh hoh".
Only to see an eerie, rusty anchor, about a foot wide, darting out from the lantern carrier’s back, unexpectedly piercing through Zu Wandai’s chest, penetrating him thoroughly.
"Who are... you..." Zu Wandai helplessly grabbed the anchor chain with one hand, trying to pull sothing out of his pocket with the other.
However, the lantern carrier rely emitted a low, hoarse growl: "Violating... curfew... punished!"
Crackle.
His body twisted under the black robe a few tis, like a yellow eel spinning rapidly inside, and suddenly the anchor chain pulled back, crackling as it retracted.
Zu Wandai’s eyes glaring wide, his mouth slightly ajar as if wanting to say sothing.
He couldn’t shout it out, because with a plosive crack, his body was torn apart, shattered into pieces scattered on the ground.
"Capt... Captain?"
"What the hell did you do!"
The garrison mbers were dumbfounded.
In just a monts’ work, their captain was instantly killed by the monster before them.
This bloody and sudden scene threw everyone into chaos.
Is this still Wulaozhuang?
How co they are at Wulaozhuang, on their own turf, attacked by such bizarre individuals!
One by one, the mbers showed extrely frightened expressions, bodies trembling, constantly retreating.
But among them, two released angry shouts.
One of them slid sideways, even while dodging, pulling a gun, firing off a burst of bullets;
While another’s muscular physique suddenly inflated, growing over two ters tall, punching out with a roar.
"Criminal" skill, "Furious People"!
This scene naturally stimulated the others’ hot blood.
The anger from the assault temporarily suppressed the inner fears.
People raised their weapons one after another, organizing an on-site counterattack, releasing triggers, a volley of gunfire.
Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang!
Crackling!
The gun muzzles belched flas, constrained by the "Criminal", the other mbers’ bullets, recklessly, poured onto the lantern carrier’s hunched body, the once peaceful little town suddenly beca lively, like celebrating New Year.
