"Dian Dian, your Brother Fan ran away with soone else!" Xie Rui nudged Wu Lingyu's shoulder and pointed towards Xiao Ruawen and Xu Qingfan as they were escaping the crowd.
Wu Lingyu tightened her grip on the teddy bear biscuit she held in her hand. She had wanted to find Xu Qingfan and then walk and eat with Brother Fan.
"Let's go back too," she said, her eyes slightly downcast, a faint sense of loss welling up inside her.
Xie Rui stuck out his tongue, feeling like he might have said the wrong thing just now.
"So are we going back to class now, or to the snack bar?"
Wu Lingyu, watching the two disappear from sight, forced a smile and said, "Let's go back to class."
Xie Rui noticed she was still holding onto that pack of teddy bear biscuits and couldn't help feeling sorry for his friend and close buddy.
"No ti to explain, hurry up and get on!"
Xie Rui tried to cheer her up by suddenly pushing her from behind and running.
"Ah~ Xie Rui, slow down." Wu Lingyu, evidently no longer feeling down, was startled.
The two didn't run through campus hand-in-hand, like the celestial couple Xu Qingfan and Xiao Ruawen.
But considering Wu Lingyu's extre beauty and her bouncing twin ponytails as she ran, she still attracted quite a few glances from the other students.
With teddy bear biscuits and Xu Qingfan's favorite twin ponytails, Wu Lingyu clearly ca prepared.
But unfortunately, the heartless guy didn't even glance at her and just ran off holding another woman's hand. It would have been strange if Yu felt happy!
"Alright, alright... Xie Rui, it's downhill ahead, be careful!"
After they had run a distance away from the crowd, Xie Rui gradually stopped.
"Your Brother Fan just ran this way, how co he's nowhere to be seen?"
Wu Lingyu rather enjoyed hearing Xie Rui call him "your Brother Fan." She also looked around, but he was nowhere to be found.
"Maybe he's already gone back."
After she spoke, the brightness in the girl's eyes seed to dim a bit.
Xie Rui linked his arm with hers and comforted her, "Hey, you'll see him at lunch, you're just missing one encounter during the break."
Xie Rui didn't have soone he liked, therefore he didn't understand that a chance eting during the break could make the heart race more than any planned encounter.
"Okay, let's head back too."
Wu Lingyu untied her twin ponytails; with Brother Fan not around, she didn't want to wear them for anyone else.
"Hey~ Yu, you must like Brother Fan, right?" Even though Wu Lingyu hadn't told her, Xie Rui wasn't blind and could tell.
"Yeah." Yu readily admitted.
Xie Rui's eyes widened like saucers, his gossip-loving soul thrilled, "Dian Dian, you knew Brother Fan since elentary school, right?"
"Yeah, since first grade."
"When did you start liking him?" Xie Rui squinted his eye mischievously.
"Ah?" Wu Lingyu paused in her stride, lifting her head to reflect seriously.

Monts later, she spoke with great conviction, "From the first mont I saw him!"
"Whoa~" Xie Rui acted as if he had stumbled upon so scandalous news, excitedly dancing about.
Wu Lingyu felt like laughing but, being professionally trained, she held it back.
After a good while, when Xie Rui's ancestral traits subsided, he continued to inquire, "Hey~, was it like Brother Fan standing all handso at the podium doing his self-introduction and then swept you off your feet? You were so young then, did you even understand these feelings?"
Wu Lingyu calmly shook her head, "Brother Fan and I weren't in the sa class."
"Ah?" Surprised at first, Xie Rui then looked at her with eager, sparkling eyes.
As they resud walking, Wu Lingyu nostalgically shared, "I t Brother Fan the latest among everyone else. Xiao Xiao and Brother Fan are neighbors, and have known each other since they were little; Wanning, Yiyi, Xiao Xiao, and Ruan Wen were all in class sixteen like Brother Fan in elentary school, while I was in class three."
"And then? And then?" As she seed to digress without getting to the main point, Xie Rui impatiently urged her on.
Wu Lingyu continued at her own pace, "The first ti I knew of Brother Fan was after the midterm exam because... Brother Fan had helped Yiyi punish those who bullied her, but also got himself a reprimand from the school because of it."
"The first ti I heard the na Xu Qingfan was at that disciplinary hearing, with Brother Fan standing in front of all the students and teachers reading his statent of remorse.... and then... pfft."
As she reminisced with a smile, she continued, "Then the principal called up the students who won the math competition to give their speeches, and Brother Fan hadn't left the stage yet when he had to turn back because the first na the principal called was Xu Qingfan."
Xie Rui, trying to envision the scene, thought: not just Yu, but any girl would have been deeply moved!
"Talk about a campus heartthrob!"
"Not just you, even I'm getting heartsick hearing this!" Xie Rui exclaid, striking his own palm.
"Huh?" Wu Lingyu suddenly looked over sharply.
"Ha... I'm talking about the achievent, not the person!" Xie Rui quickly declared his loyalty, then curiously asked, "But you've talked so much, and you still haven't said how you t Brother Fan?"
Her distraction worked, and Wu Lingyu took her gaze back.
Thinking back on her interactions with Xu Qingfan, her face brightened with a smile as radiant as the sun.
"January 30, 2003, I will never forget that day..."
Wu Lingyu wasn't a gifted storyteller, her words were plain and simple: taking her mom to the doctor, helping her mom at the stall, not discriminating against Yu, even tutoring Yu...
To others, these might seem like insignificant little things.
