Zhou Ziang was slightly embarrassed, but he couldn’t help it; working as a temporary doctor at the 411 Hospital, he would occasionally encounter so minor patients. To convince the kids, he actually brought a lot of candy.

The candy was handed over, and the little girl hesitated for a bit. In the end, she couldn’t resist the temptation of the few pieces of candy that looked delicious. She snatched the candy and forgot to block the door, allowing Xiao Xian to slip in.

As soon as they entered, a pungent, warm wind rushed towards them, and a dark shadow charged over.

"Be careful," the situation was urgent, and neither had ti to use their Spiritual Power. Zhou Ziang’s hand reached out to block Xiao Xian, almost synchronously, both of their feet seed to have an understanding, and they drifted out together.

The little girl, with candy in her mouth, made a strange murmur. It turned out she was not a Korean, nor was she ignoring Xiao Xian; she was a complete deaf-mute.

The creature rushing toward Xiao Xian was a white-haired big dog, indistinguishable whether it was a wolf cub or a dog cub. After hearing the murmuring, the big dog lazily retreated.

With montum quick as a gust of wind, it suddenly perford a huge 180-degree brake. Its white-haired forelimbs curled up, its hind legs forcefully rebounded downward, and when it stood up, its body, now only the height of a person, had curled into a snowball-like shape, rolling across the floor covered with grass.

In just a breath or two, the big dog had returned to the position it had been in before the little girl opened the door, squatting in the corner closest to the stove, squinting and warming itself by the fire, completely ignoring the two strangers who entered.

"Hey, Xiao Xian had never seen such a smart, long-haired animal. Its ferocious appearance a mont ago and its ta deanor now seed like two different creatures."

The little girl seed to think that the two had entered the house to avoid the snow. After letting them in, she ignored them, sat aside, and focused on eating her candy. After finishing one piece, she couldn’t bear to eat another, simply playing with the shiny candy wrapper.

Xiao Xian and Zhou Ziang knew that language was not communicable, so talking more would be useless. They picked a spot closer to the stove, maintaining so distance from the white-haired big dog, and started to beat the snow off their boots.

The warmth of the stove was comforting, causing Xiao Xian to doze off for a while, eventually unable to stay awake, she slept against Zhou Ziang’s shoulder.

Not knowing how much ti passed, Xiao Xian was awakened by so voices. When she woke up, she found herself being held and placed on an old recliner, covered with Zhou Ziang’s down jacket, which had puffed up with the heat, emitting a clean feather sll.

The little girl, seeing Xiao Xian awake, made a face at her, her eyes seemingly mocking her laziness. Looking around the room, Zhou Ziang was holding a rice-washing basinfeaturing a few round potatoes and so soaked beans.

Perhaps it was nearing alti, and the little girl, thinking of cooking before the adults at ho returned, Zhou Ziang gestured with his hands, indicating that he would cook.

He had lived alone abroad for so many years and was quite capable of taking care of himself. This was sothing Xi Lijuan, his mother, was proud of. She often said that she had trained a good husband for his future wife.

In such snowy and icy conditions, the only edible things available from the mountains were tubers like potatoes dug from beneath the snow and flat beans collected in autumn; they could only make a soup like Russian borscht with potatoes and beans.

Peeling the potatoes and draining the beans, they needed so firewood to boil the soup, but when they brought the chopped wood inside from outside, they realized that the wood was all damp from the snow, too wet to light.

"Is this stumping you?" Xiao Xian didn’t want to be the lazy big sister scorned by the little girl for being idle. She had slept enough, and the discomfort brought by the "Inch Land Skill" earlier had also eased quite a bit.

"With him here, I can’t really make a move," Zhou Ziang saw her awake, his face still flushed from just having woken up, and his heart couldn’t help but flutter.

"If the chopped wood can’t be used, find big chunks of wood. These people who live in the mountains must know how to preserve firewood in winter," Xiao Xian pushed open the door, pulled the hood of her down jacket over her head, and then made a wood-chopping gesture to the little girl.

The little girl curiously watched this big sister, then looked at the similarly surprised handso big brother, and stepped outside the house, poking an inconspicuous pile of snow next to the wooden house.

Xiao Xian stepped forward, brushed aside so snow, only to find that it was not a pile of snow, but rather a pile of logs tightly covered with animal skin. Each log inside was only half a ter high, showing neat cuts, indicating that the adults of the house knew the wood would get wet from the snow and had prepared accordingly.

Xiao Xian picked the log on the top and also took down the axe leaning against the pile of wood. She walked out through the snow, her steps deep and shallow.

"Let do it," Zhou Ziang understood that Xiao Xian was going to chop the firewood again and rolled up his sleeves to step forward.

"This kind of work isn’t for you; this is my trade," Xiao Xian grinned, her eyes narrowing.

She lightly tapped the wood with her hand, and the half-person high log sank straight into the snow, motionless.

The handle of the axe was pressed against the palm of her hand, her eyes targeted the middle layer of tree rings on the round wood, Xiao Xian’s waist powered up, and with a "crack" sound, a log as thick as her waist was neatly split in two.

"Clap clap clap," the little girl who had previously looked down on Xiao Xian was clapping vigorously at the side, her hands turning red but showing no sign of stopping.

Xiao Xian made a face back at her, proud to be known as the wood chop girl from Yunteng.

Zhou Ziang watched from behind, mist forming in his eyes. Within the mist, the figure before him was deeply etched into his mind, a sight that could never be wiped away. (To be continued.
