Yang PeiMin graduated.
She turned down the opportunity at a state-funded research institution.
Instead, she continued to grow her own costics company in T City.
In just over a year since its inception, the brand had gained so notoriety. When people talked about buying face cream, her Taotao brand could now be compared to other well-known brands like Friendly.
Tang Zhao and Li Yue had also stayed. Now they were part of the sa team and felt a sense of superiority and accomplishnt when the products they researched together were welcod by a wide consur base.
However, Yang PeiMin felt it was still not enough. The raw materials and efficacy could be better. They were preparing to train the team to head to Europe for more targeted raw materials—Yang PeiMin knew of a few that could only grow in that environnt.
There was much more to research and improve; she knew there was still a lot to be done.
After another eting concluded, the summary for the first half of the year and the plan for the second were settled, and Yang PeiMin was quite pleased today.
At work, unless she was heading into the lab, she always opted for a more professional attire, her hair neatly coiffed and dressed in a business suit, rediscovering the workplace feeling that was once elusive. In etings, she was serious, but outside of them, she beca kind and gentle.
She knew many people thought she was too young, which sotis affected their trust in her, so she made an extra effort with her appearance.
Today was the day before Mid-Autumn Festival, and Yang PeiMin instructed her staff before tidying up early to leave work.
Shen Yiguang had the day off as well and specifically drove to pick her up.
Shen Yiguang’s jeep was also a new one, not like the old one that was half for carrying people and half for hauling goods. Now, this vehicle was entirely for passengers.
He had another driver but usually did not need one for personal matters.
After Yang PeiMin finished her handover, she grabbed her personal items, picked up her handbag, and, together with her secretary, left the office.
They were among the last to leave, but there were still others around.
"Mr. Yang."
"Mr. Yang."
Yang PeiMin smiled and nodded, "Be careful on your way ho."
Secretary Xiao Tian was in a hurry to pick up her younger brother from school and catch the bus. Just outside the factory gate, she smiled and pointed ahead to Yang Pei, saying, "Mr. Yang, your loved one has co to pick you up."
A smile played on Yang PeiMin’s lips as she saw him walking towards her, tall and upright in military attire, his eyes smiling warmly at her—a perfect blend of rugged charm and tenderness.
Xiao Tian winked at Yang PeiMin, "Your military beau really is as dedicated as ever. You’re not rushing ho to take care of the kids, are you?"
Yang PeiMin looked at her, "Aren’t we?"
Xiao Tian suggested, "With ti to spare, you could catch a movie."
Shen Yiguang had already approached by the ti they finished speaking.
Xiao Tian hurried off.
Shen Yiguang raised an eyebrow, "Did your secretary say sothing bad about ?"
"Not at all," Yang PeiMin laughed and shook her head, taking Shen Yiguang’s arm, "Why so early? Do you have sothing planned?"
Speaking of which, they had been married for over five years with kids, and the opportunities to go out alone were few and far between.
Shen Yiguang looked at her and quickly caught on, "I passed by Jiefang Road earlier and saw a Western restaurant. I’ve heard it’s quite the spot for couples to have a date, and we’ve never been. Maybe we should check it out."
Yang PeiMin laughed, realizing she often preferred the local big als and snacks, and hadn’t fully explored all the local delicacies yet. She hadn’t had the leisure to visit a Western restaurant, let alone dine there, especially when going out with the family could be a major undertaking just to manage the three kids. Rare were the tis when if she wasn’t busy, he wasn’t.
She hoped to slow down in the coming years, to truly enjoy family ti. At the garnt factory, she hardly needed to get involved anymore, having trained her own people, just waiting to collect dividends.
Her main focus was still on the costics side of things, and now that she had graduated, she didn’t need to go back to classes. This ant she had so more ti on her hands.
"Welco!"
Engrossed in thought, she realized they had arrived at the entrance of the Western restaurant.
"May I ask, is it for two?"
Yang PeiMin smiled and said yes.
The two found a seat and sat down, and the waiter brought over the nu.
Yang PeiMin handed it to Shen Yiguang.
"I’ve already ordered, you have a look for yourself."
In fact, there was nothing particularly special about these Western dishes. It was just the usual few types, which she could na over ten of with her eyes closed.
Shen Yiguang thought she didn’t like them.
Yang PeiMin laughed, "I want a borscht and a well-done steak, a bottle of red wine, no dessert. If there’s ice cream, let’s have so."
Shen Yiguang just casually ordered a couple of items.
Shen Yiguang felt quite awkward handling the knife and fork.
Despite this, he managed to cut the steak with precision, as neat as tofu.
Yang PeiMin watched and couldn’t help but laugh. She simply let him cut hers as well, too lazy to do it herself, and then ate it directly with a fork.
The Western restaurant looked pretty nice, the decor was exquisite and particularly romantic.
Full-length transparent windows, clean and bright.
On the west side of the restaurant was a small stage, with a piano on it.
Coincidentally, today a mother was celebrating her birthday, and her daughter went up on stage to play the piano for her.
The birthday mother happened to be sitting at the table next to Yang PeiMin’s.
The sound of their conversation could sowhat be overheard from here.
It looked like the mother, who had brought her daughter for a blind date, was listing her daughter’s rits to her date’s face.
A significant rit was that she had returned from studying abroad, had mastered the piano, and had an incomparable temperant, among other things.
Yang PeiMin couldn’t help but gossip and cast a glace at that incomparable daughter. She did sit at the piano with a proper deanor. Yet, when the music started, Yang PeiMin could only say that she played a standard tune quite ordinarily to its end.
The mother clapped vigorously and kept telling those around her that the perforr was her daughter.
Especially to those close to her, like Yang PeiMin’s table, she ntioned it three tis.
Yang PeiMin also politely nodded to her.
The feelings of a mother, she could quite understand. If it were Zhang Minghua, she felt she would probably do the sa.
So each of the three tis the mother approached her, she responded with a smile.
The mother, seemingly having found a kindred spirit, sat in her seat and went on and on about her daughter’s study abroad experience.
At that ti, going abroad for studies seed quite face-saving.
No wonder she acted that way.
Her daughter’s date also looked over, seeming puzzled by the way this mother appeared to have found soone familiar with her alma mater, but when he saw Yang PeiMin, his eyes brightened.
