"Sister-in-law, you’re really not going over?" Shen Yiyue asked with so curiosity.
Yang PeiMin chuckled and shook her head, "I’m not foolish enough to give her ’face’ after she drove out."
Shen Yiguang smiled as he looked at Yang PeiMin with a supportive expression.
Shen Yiyue nodded, then glanced at Zhang Minghua and whispered, "It seems like your Third Aunt wants your grandma to move out as well. I was just thinking, if your grandma also called for you, would you still go? I think your cousin must regret what she said. After all, it ant saving face for her, and to say such words... it’s really..."
Yang PeiMin shook her head and smiled with a wink, "There’s no way grandma can persuade . I’m known for my fiery temper and spoiled, willful nature. No one can change my mind, and don’t think that just because I’ve llowed out a bit these past couple of years, I’ve lost my temper. She’d be wrong."
Zhang Minghua listened, torn between laughter and tears, then glanced at her son-in-law. Her eldest daughter really dared to speak her mind. She didn’t know what to say and wondered if her son-in-law would mind.
"Ah Guang, don’t listen to her nonsense. Which unwed girl doesn’t have a bit of a temper? They’re all treasures in their families. However, Minmin has indeed matured a lot these past two years..." Zhang Minghua explained to Shen Yiguang.
Shen Yiguang smiled and shook his head, "I’m actually fond of Minmin’s personality. Only a girl who is pampered can have such confidence. I’m grateful I can provide that for her, and I hope she remains like this forever, as well as our little Tuantuan."
Zhang Minghua’s heart swelled with emotion as she looked into Shen Yiguang’s eyes, finding a deep and steadfast sincerity. Her heart felt ward and smoothed as if an iron had pressed over it.
Shen Yiyue was almost spellbound, her eyes fixed on her brother without blinking. Wow, where did her brother learn this trick? No wonder he managed to marry her sister-in-law.
Yang Peiying was a bit slow on the uptake.
Yang PeiMin smiled and nodded in agreent, "That’s what I think too."
Everyone enjoyed a delightful al, and sure enough, it wasn’t long before soone ca to persuade Yang PeiMin to co over for a visit. It was Second Aunt Yang, representing Grandma Yang’s wishes, "Grandma didn’t get a good look at you earlier; there were too many people around, and she couldn’t chat with you. You haven’t been back in two years; she misses you greatly, especially since you’ve given her three great-grandchildren. She wants to have a good look at them. Why don’t you and your son-in-law co over? She’s old and doesn’t want much, just hopes that you all do well and co to see her once in a while."
Yang PeiMin responded to Second Aunt Yang’s visit with a great attitude, keeping the mindset of a younger family mber, "Once the guests leave, I’ll go over and have a proper chat with grandma. I miss her too. There are still guests around, and it would be rude to just go over and monopolize grandma’s attention. These three kids of mine are a handful, they get sleepy right after eating. Without there to put them to bed, they’ll give you a headache. The eldest is even more so; once the novelty wears off here, he’ll start fussing to go back..." She didn’t ntion that it was because of Yang Peidi that she didn’t go over.
Second Aunt Yang sighed, "Minmin, are you still angry with Peidi? She’s always been sticky, and if soone says a few words to her, she believes them wholeheartedly. Your Third Aunt isn’t the strict type and hasn’t taught her well, so Peidi ended up like this. Don’t be too harsh on her. She knows she said the wrong thing now and didn’t an anything by it. She was just speaking thoughtlessly, seeing that you and Yang Peiyan don’t get along. She wanted to separate you two, hoping for a harmonious atmosphere. Today is her wedding day, let’s not make it awkward. Give Second Aunt so face and co over for a bit. Drink a cup of tea and then leave, alright?"
"Second Aunt, you don’t need to persuade . I get annoyed just by seeing Yang Peiyan and her sister. You know that they’re like enemies to . Now I understand; Yang Peidi’s marriage was arranged by Yang Peiyan’s mother, right? Of course, the two families would be in cahoots, breathing through the sa nostril. Yang Peidi was helping Yang Peiyan squeeze out. I don’t have such a good temper to go over and give them face. The fact that I didn’t slap her on the spot already gave them enough respect. You know I can do it, Second Aunt. I’ve done such things before."
The original host had indeed done things like this, not just once or twice. Although she wasn’t as physically strong as others, she could throw a fit, get sick, and tattle. Her parents favored her; seeing her in such a state, even if she was wrong, they would coax and indulge her. She was invincible back then, whether it was people from the village or her own family; no one dared to provoke her lightly.
Now, even though I have co through and lost that ability, the original host’s influence remains.
Second Aunt Yang’s face stiffened.
In the end, Second Aunt Yang left in defeat.
Peimin watched her leave with a chuckle, then turned to Yiguang and said, "No matter what I do, you have to have my back."
Yiguang nodded hastily, "If there’s any problem, don’t handle it yourself, just rember to use ."
Peijun and the others had also returned. Seeing that the hotplate tools had not yet been cleaned up on Peimin’s side, they exclaid in surprise, "No wonder we didn’t see you guys just now, you were here enjoying the good stuff. You’re really not loyal, not calling for such a great feast!"
Saying this, he took the griddle from Peiying’s hands and set it up over the stove again.
Peimin looked at him in surprise, "Didn’t you already eat?"
"Who says you can’t eat again after eating?" Peijun said matter-of-factly, and Peimin had no retort. Alright, you’re ugly, but you make the rules.
What Peimin said to Second Aunt Yang wasn’t completely false; after lunch, she really did have to put a few children to sleep.
So she had given Zhang Minghua a heads-up.
Zhang Minghua wanted to help her carry the children into the room.
"Mom, I’ll do the carrying," Peimin said.
Zhang Minghua gave her a pointed look, "I haven’t had enough fun being a grandma yet."
"Alright, you’re the grandma, you call the shots."
Yiyue also ca in carrying a child, while Yiguang chatted with so uncles.
Lele had been sleepy for a while and started dozing off before even entering the room. The twins had slept for a bit in the morning, but now it was their usual nap ti, and Peimin didn’t want to disrupt their biological clocks.
Zhang Minghua asked if she wanted to carry the two children on her back to coax them to sleep since that’s what was done when Peimin was little.
Peimin said there was no need, to just let them lie on the bed, and there was no need to fuss over them.
